When You Are Ready to be the One

We’ve talked in the past about the process of driving depth.  You want to be helping your people go level after level of depth, by facilitating home meetings for them.  But there’s another part of the equation…

You don’t ever want to do things for people that they can do for themselves.  How many times are you throwing life preservers to someone the universe is trying to teach to swim?

And that applies to you and your sponsor…

You want to get to the point that your sponsor isn’t doing meetings for you – as quickly as possible.  Because remember why they are doing them:  They’re looking for a leader.

The biggest decision you will ever make is when you decide that YOU are that leader.

Your sponsor will still help you.  But you want it to be through counseling and major events.  You want to get to the point that you don’t need help with home meetings as quick as you can.  And then of course, you want to duplicate the process.  That’s when you’re really rockin’

  1. Each one teach one! Do the first few for them while they take notes, let them do a portion (or half) for a few, then they can do their own and also walk their new distributors down the same path. Lead by example!

  2. Hi Randy,

You must be the person for some time before becoming the person.

The ones who can embrace the uncomfortable feelings associated with growth jump the be/become gap pretty darn quickly. They become the ones who start doing the meetings on their own, the people who become leaders.

As you note the sponsor is always there for support. But by being a leader consistently and leader-type decisions you prepare yourself to be a leader. When prepared, you are ready to become the one.

As Vincent notes above it is about working yourself out of a job. You always have more people to recruit as long as you’re enjoying the gig but each person you groom to become a leader can eventually handle things on their own, with your gentle nudges here and there as a supportive sponsor.

Thanks for sharing your insight Randy. Have a prosperous day.

  3. D.oing absolutely everything 4 a downline leads to mental laziness, it is the responsibility of an upline to teach downlines how to go about the biz and subsequently, leave the downline to do it himself, this is encapsulated in the principle of teaching people how to fish and not fishing 4 people indefinately

  4. DOING VIRTUALLY EVERYTHING 4 A DOWNLINE LEADS TO MENTAL LAZINESS AND PARALYSIS, THE RESPONSIBILITY OF AN UPLINE IS TO TEACH/ GUIDE THE DOWNLINE HOW TO GO ABOUT HIS OR HER BUSINESS @ THE BEGINNING AND AFTERWARDS ALLOW HIM OR HER TO DO IT HIM OR HERSELF, THIS IS ENCAPSULATED IN THE PRINCIPLE OF TEACHING PEOPLE HOW TO FISH AND NOT FISHING FOR THEM PERPENTUALLY.

  5. Greetings Randy,

Yes it is good to be prepared to BE THE ONE. You just never know where it can lead you.

My sponsor quit our business so I needed to step in asap. and I was prepared.
Now I do the same with those who show they would like to learn. Some people just do not have the desire to be in front of the room BUT they can still have GREAT success because they focus on what they can and want to do.
They focus their effort on BITS and BITS and BITS. (butts in the seats)

Either way, being in front of the room or putting people in the seats for the person that is in front of the room is the KEY that unlocks the door to success.

Preparation and Proper Participation, Produces Winners!

    Be Blessed,

  6. Hey Randy,

There is a saying like this. If you want to help a hungry person for the the short term, give him a fish to eat, but if you want to help him for the long term, teach him how to cath fishes for himself.
i don’t do things for people that they can do for themselves, but teach them” how to cath fishes for themselfs”
