The Discipline of Self Discipline

Dilute your focus and you will also get a corresponding dilution of the results you achieve.  It’s easy to get consumed with busy work.

Remember how you get paid…

You get paid only when your product or service gets to the end consumer.  So the only rainmaker activities that produce profit are activities that get a new customer, or get a new team member who will use the products and bring in other team members or customers.  Without self-disciple you create busy daily routines on meaningless avoidance behavior.  And that makes you broke.

There are other activities that are necessary: organizing your desk, planning your schedule, etc.  But none of those make you money.

You only make money when you get prospects in front of a presentation.

Somebody say BOOM!

  1. Dear Mr.Randy
I am wondering how to keep my self discipline while something will blow on my side and distract me from way that I am going to??
I always trying to keep my focus and my discipline but always something came up and mess up everything.
    Thanks in advance & BOOM.

  2. Randy:

Back in the days when you started,How did you created self-discipline and stay focus? What was the critical step you use from “failing” for five years to becoming succesful?and How long did it take you to make your first million in NM?Ten years?

  3. Amen! Gosh I needed to hear this again. I’m going to print this post out and place it directly in front of me in my office and ADHERE to it.

Thanks Randy – you are the Master!

  4. Boom baby boom! 😉 hey rocksta, why don’t you put in the livefyre platform here too please? I wanna like some comments :))) xoxo

  5. Actually I think regular counseling & daily self-tracking is so crucial to help hone the art of self-discipline, in our business and totally applicable to every part of life too. it helps reveal all the “filler” non-productive activities I personally get involved with. I’m working this strongly in my team now.

  6. Hi RG,

    Effective, profit producing acts count.

All the other stuff are little games we play with ourselves, to get all ready and raring to do the profit-producing stuff that many dread.

The ego is like that. It will tell you that non-money making activities are oh so important. And the games continue, until you are either flat broke or have some other impending situation which pushes you outside of your comfort zone into effective, money making acts.

I suffered from this delusion from time to time. Turns out, I was afraid to share my opportunity. Lesson learned. I engage in stuff which puts cash in my pocket and of course, helps my team and prospects do the same.

All the other stuff I put off until the next rainy day, and it’s not raining much during high season here in Laos.

What you focus on expands. Focus on BSing on social networks, that will surely expand. You become real popular, and might get a serious ego boost from big numbers too, but who cares? Not putting money in your pocket. Been there, learned lesson.

Same deal with comments. I wrote really deep comments for a minute. Then I switched it up, rushing stupidly and unintelligently through the commenting process. Assanine mistake that caused me traffic and money. Of course, the root was in moving away from a strategy that helped make me money to one that did not put money in my pocket. Lesson learned.

Keep the focus on prospering, and meeting as many live bodies as you humanly can who are hungry to eat what you have to serve.

    Thanks for sharing RG.

  7. BOOM!
I finally think I’ve made room for being able to get out of my house and get in contact with people, so I can for good start my networkmarketing business. Have had to make some huge changes in my life to make that happen.
Thank’s for this article, and I’ll most certainly follow your blogs, as I’ve done for a long time now. You are my mentor Randy.
    XOXO

  9. A great reminder… A sort of “Boom” without saying “Boom”.
Although one does need to tidy one’s desk and prepare presentations, we must remember our main tasks – the moneymaking ones.
    Thank you RG

  10. Hi
Not facing up to the fact that you are not talking to enough people to make money, is a feeling that many might recognise. However it is just a feeling, it does not means that you can’t actually do it.
So being successfull is about controling your feelings, so that you can do what you need to do! People are concerned and anxious about going to the dentist, but they still go because the benefit is greater than the cost!
We need to value our business IPA’s in the same way!

  11. Thanks Randy for the reminder on doing the right money-making/business-building activities. It couldn’t have come at a better time than early in the new year. Thanks once again

  12. Too true. Always remember on one of my very first 3 way calls years back my sponsor said to my new team member ‘ ok enough of sharpening the pencils already.’

Think she nearly fell off her chair!

Thanks for the reminder as this is something that can trip us up continuously.

  13. Boom! Boom! and BOOM! That’s right on Randy. I would add that putting yourself in the Red to attend a national conference/vacation is not a money making activity either.

  14. Hey Randy,

    Here is big Boom!
Self- disciple , focus on the target and the way how to get it ,
are the component of success in every thing in life.

Thank you,for this post came at the nick of time.

Not being self-disciplined enough to follow strict
schedule- doing the right thing first, more often
than not leads to no success.

    I will adhere to it.

    Thank you once more.

  16. I love this post Randy,
This morning I was meditating why I did not make money last week.
    I have discovered the reason.
Self discipline TO DO activities that directly generate sales-PRESENTATIONS, PRESENTATIONS, PRESENTATIONS…BOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!

  17. Indeed BOOM! Have had a number of presentations to prospects who later join but seem so relaxed like they have all the time in the world. They move so slowly sometimes even take a break. What must i do?
