Why You Have to Travel

Great to see the response on the last post about paying the price.  I’m writing you today from San Jose, Costa Rica, where I’m conducting an event this weekend.

It started with a meeting with the leaders tonight.  Tomorrow I’ll do an overview of the opportunity for guests, followed by training for everyone.  There simply is no other way to get the results I am getting here.

Yes webcasts are great, so are conference calls, online videos, DVDs and chat rooms.   But none of those things will produce what I am producing being here in person.

I’ll get more new members enrolled, more volume produced and most importantly, more in the “trust, belief and relationship bank account” than I could have created any other way.  I will meet new leaders, learn their names, look into their eyes, find out about their families, goals and dreams.   And that’s a price I’m willing to pay.

I hope you are too.

  1. Too many are very successful with only telephone and computer contact for any of us to say that this is only a face to face business. Granted the face to face has the better ratios. Now, answer the why question. Is it the trust factor or relationship between two people one who brought the other? For me the question is whether or not these attraction marketing system are effectively providing qualified leads that can become solid through establishing a relationship?
Yes, saying it the right way is important. Yes, offering it to a group of people in person is a better use of personal resources with greater success rates.
God bless you one and all, Richard

    1. A lead is just a lead Richard. Networking is about a relationship … too much emphasis is placed upon high tech instead of high touch … I left my kids at home tonight, drove 20 miles into town to attend a “party” with one of my leaders who was sharing the product with 5 new people. I could have done the whole thing over the phone or had them sample the product and wait for the conference call on Monday but by my being “there” for my leader, the people there bought the product from him – leading to my group volume. Their belief in him changed just because I was there. THAT is why you have to be willing to get out of your house to do this business … hope that helps

  2. What we think and believe is limited, held inside the box of what WE believe is possible, by our basic life principles. As long as this is true the difference I can make is also limited by what ‘runs’ me. If your basic life principle is ‘looking good’ or another version of the “I’m too cool” disease going to meetings make no difference. Adding an eye dropper of yellow die to a sea of green is still green. IF that is where you come from you will prove by attending it cannot make a difference. Humans are making themselves ‘right’ machines. We do it constantly and without thinking.

The fear of getting up on stage, inviting people or whatever stops you now is always used as the excuse not to do anything else! IF you will begin doing what you can do, what you are willing to do and work in the direction of the summit… you will not have to get up on stage for a long time…. until you actually request it. If you do what you are willing to do, what you can do comfortably in the beginning suddenly you will attract people who want to have that ‘spark’ that has appeared and they will want to know what you are doing, what you are up to and the natural progression will have you inviting.

If you can or are willing to commit to reaching the summit without knowing how you will accomplish it your ability to see and find the path will appear. If it doesn’t appear you have not made the commitment. The cost benefit analysis MUST be made before the commitment not after. When you do flying to San Jose is a natural expression of your commitment. If you make it afterwards you are still in the stands of your life deciding if you can figure out a way to sleep in.

For a day come from, have your basic life principle be ‘Who I am makes a difference.’ From that position the adventure of spending a day in San Jose is exhilarating, powerful and DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE as long as you know that EVERYONE makes a difference. If you believe that some don’t you will only be helping out and looking good.

Thanks Randy for allowing me to have a say.

  3. You are full of reason Randy!!! It’s Really like that, face to face is very important in our business. Have a nice day.

  4. Randy, you are so right on about meeting face to face which makes it all so real for those who attend and for us as leaders! This business is all about building real relationships and long lasting friendships.

Today Costa Rica … then this coming week looking forward to meeting up with you in Rome … then we are off to Sydney!

What a way to SEE the world … MAKE a Million friends … and LIVE LIfe on PURPOSE!

    Big hugs, Ann

  5. Hi Randy,
    Excellent points.
Network Marketing is a wonderful industry that is all about relationships with people. If you are not building them face to face and person to person then significant sustainable growth will not be possible.
Thanks for your leadership and continued support for us all who are working hard to create a life for themselves and many many others in this great profession.
    Make it a great day!
    God Bless!

  6. Great philosophy. Being a people person who thought of myself as a loner, I can only agree with you. I have changed and continue to do so.
    Thanks for your advices, Randy

  7. Yes, I realize we all have to pay the price if we want success. I am not willing to pay every price though. My family and especially my grandson have priority number one for me! Don’t want to miss it when he’s growing up. He’s 2 now and I think it’s important to have a very nice and good relationship with him, and with my daughter and son-in-law too.
If I have to choose between success and lots of money at one side and my dear family at the other, I really choose for my family!
But hopefully I do not have to choose! I’m trying to do both. Babysit for my grandson, help out my mum (who’s 81), help out my “foster”daughter (from Ethiopia, I kind of adopted her) AND do as much work for my business as I can.

Thanks Randy, for pointing me at this.
    Kind regards
    Stella

  8. Randy,

you really are on to something here, I believe the internet has come to breed a lot of scumbags who hide behind websites, email etc… I mean nobody wants to even pick up the phone anymore. So Randy, do you do more home meetings or hotel or both?

  9. Funny how most people still think that this business isnt really a business. If they thought of it as such they would see it as normal to have to “pay the prïce” . What business exists that doesn`t need study, investment and dedication to be sucessful and make a living.
They often turn to me and say that they are not willing to dedicate the time I do. And yet they still expect to make unlimited amounts of money!I always say that you will get back according to how much you put in. And this is one of the only industries that doesn`t pre select people according to their education, position, expereince and you are never too old for!
And yes…I am willing to pay the price!

  10. Hi Randy, here Isabel Ituiño, senior director from spain, I trully thank you for sharing all your background with us. I also absolutely agree also with your manifiesto,
You know, my country is very talented but has almost not experience in MLM. That is why trying to stablish MLM fairly as an innovating way to do bussiness is specialy important for us. I am landscaping architect and my husband former president of Universal Music in Spain, never worked together before, and you know what I believe is our success so far? Our house is always, constantly me open for pbr, nmo, meetings and enjoying of all our team and friends.
If you ever come to Madrid I would love to have you at home so you could see how for us the price “we are willing to pay” is also the greatness of MLM bussiness, “meeting new leaders (friends), learn their names, look into their eyes, find out about their families, goals and dreams…”
Hope to earing you in Rome, best regards Randy.

  11. Hi Randy,

Today, it’s easier to enroll any body in other countries and cities because of the tecnology.

When do you think it is appropiate, or ok to travel to support the new team member in other market?

I think that new team member, first, have to demonstrate his really interest to do the bussines and then i have to travel to support them.

Do you think is this right or do you have another suggestion to this?

    bye

    -GJ

  12. Sponsor someone today in other countries or other cities is easier than before by technology.

When do you think it should start flying to support your new sponsor in another market?

In my case, I think we should start flying once the new team member (my new sponsored) have shown real interest in doing business in earnest, following a system and putting into action the things you indicated from the outset, such as making a list, make the first call and make the first meetings in which one supports it through a third party call, skype or something.

If the new team member shows their real commitment and the team starts to grow, I think at that time should start travel to support it.

Do You think something different or are you agree?

Do you have any additional recommendations or any input on this commentary?

    Thanks

    -GJ

    1. I look for whether they follow the core qualities, are on autoship, and are loyal to the system. Then I look for a “beachhead,” meaning that they have a group of people that are also doing these things.

  13. I am currently in Istanbul and doing very similar work to what you are doing- training, ,personal meetings, presentations and I agree with you .there is absolutely a huge difference between personal meetings face to face and internet meetings. this business is about trust first. and nothing beats face to face in order to create trust .

  14. I agree with your to a very large extent even though I believe so much in the attraction model, because it really serves some sort of purpose, but then we must be able to draw the line and also use the face to face model also – really MLM is a people’s business.

    Ride on Randy!

  15. And that’s a price I’m willing to pay.”

Meeting people face to face and person to
person is the best way to establish
real and stable connection, and relationship.
everyone who want tobe succesful networker ,has to
built real connection with persons, him leads and prospects.
injoy your jerney and pay the price on something you like to do/

  17. My way of paying the price is by participating in companies DVD program for the following reasons:

    1. It saves me time. I know right away who is serious about changing their lives. Many say they want to change, but few are willing to do what it takes.

    2. It has a tracking system with databases, training, goal setting, etc

    3. When I follow up on the telephone, if they watched the DVD and show interest, then I will invite them to a meeting. Now, if they are ready to sign up over the phone, then I will help them..

If on the day of the meeting, they do not show up or come up with some last minute excuse such as my car broke down. the cat got a tooth ache, my kid got sick, I have to go bowling. I have to go to work, they go to the bottom of my list. I am done chasing people. I realize this is part of the of the business.

    4. I am being compensated for my efforts. All I need to do is pass out 25 DVDs a month for 12 months and they will compensate me with 10K. I realize in the world of some network marketers this is pocket change. However, I guarantee that a majority of the people in the industry do not make amount, ever.

The meeting are great, but I feel you should qualify that person to see if they have the right mindset and are open to new ideas.

  18. We just came back from Osaka, south to Tokyo, where we have a good group of people building. We have been talking on the phone with the group but meeting up with them this past weekend made a huge difference (to them and to us).

I love the technology today and it has helped us expand worldwide in ways we never imagined a few years ago. We can even do webinars to see each other without leaving our home.

But I think nothing beats the personal contact, looking into each other’s eyes, feeling the energy from our bodies, the “human warmth” of a handshake or a hug. We are in fact human and technology just doesn’t have that human touch (at least for now ;-)).

We love traveling so it puts just a bit more meaning to our travel. We’re in this business because we love traveling and meeting people so it’s a perk for us!

  19. Hi Randy,
