Touching Hearts Vs. Convincing Minds

One of the biggest breakthroughs you’ll ever get in the business is when you realize it isn’t just about disseminating information.  If that’s all it took, all you would have to do would be handing out DVDs at the shopping mall.   This was a tough lesson for me to learn…

I’m a pretty logical, rational guy.  And when I got started in network marketing, I assaulted everyone I knew with all the rational, logical reasons they should do the business.  I won all the arguments, but didn’t win many hearts.

And that is where the real rewards – the lifetime relationships, creating legacies and true residual income – come from.  And if you want to do that, you have to “tap root” and get down into the group, helping new people develop while you’re helping build depth for your personals.

That means driving to new people’s homes to do meetings.  And going to far away cities to support long distance lines.

Hearts are won by getting onto airplanes and into living rooms.

That’s when people know, really know, that you are their partner for success.  And they will stay with you forever.  It won’t matter what deal comes along, if you have locked arms with them and demonstrated that you really are there for them, they’ll remember that always.  That’s the kind of leadership that breeds new leaders.

In almost 25 years, I can only think of two instances where I partnered with someone and they left me for a deal on the other side of the fence.  And in both cases it really was more about a question of character on their part.

So how are you doing on this?  Are you down in the group, helping your team reach their dreams?  Or are you sitting behind your computer screen, trying to manage your way to success?

  1. Thanks for the reminder, Randy!

It isn’t always about me and my success.

As one wise man said: He who would be the greatest among you let him be the servant of all.

And as another wise man said: The formula for success is to get a large group of people… (I think you would know this one!)

  2. Uau, fantastico.

  3. Greetings Randy,

I am a lot like you in many ways it seems.

When I started my career in this industry back in 1996 I to followed the typical training, presenting etc. Heck it made sense to me to be involved so why not everybody else…… you know.

As I developed, I too changed and began to see and learn where people were in their life, what were their needs, hopes, dreams and desires.

I then worked to create the value for THEM to see this industry could help them also, without pressuring of course. Some still walked away which was their decision and rightly so.

When someone did decide they wanted to follow, it was up to me to make sure they became successful for THEM. It is my belief I am secondary as I coached trained and mentored them.

As you well know this industry is really all about networking NOT marketing.

The larger your network is, of people working together, for the common good of all, that is when True relationships are formed as you indicated. When bonded in that manner people not only follow you, they stand beside you and it builds from there into their groups and so on. It really is about creating a culture of respect.

The picture I could paint would be how the redwood forest has survived all the thousands of years they have been standing.

They stand tall and their roots are intertwined in such a way that no tree stands alone.

I hope those that read your message today will take heart and begin to build their business as you have indicated.

It really is the Difference Maker to long term success. Whatever business you may be involved in.

    Be Blessed,

    Robert

  4. Hey Randy Gage

I think that you are a real leader to your organization. A leader is one who is partner in success for his team, and standing for all that is possible for them in business.
People join to people and the best way to motivate them is “Touching Hearts Vs. Convincing Minds.

  5. Thank you for the reality check Randy, that is true some times we get side track and think that sitting behind the computer and spending time on those chat sites it is the best way to grow on our business, thank you for the reminder!!!

  6. Randy,
Your wisdom is appreciated. It is very hard being new to network marketing and hearing self proclaimed gurus talk about THEIR programs that will bring you 10,15, and even 20 thousand dollars per month. Just buy and watch their videos and you to can be RICH beyond your dreams. Having had a business for 20 years with employees and supplies and customers to keep up with I KNOW that nothing lasting comes quickly. I have spent 8 to 12 hours per day studying and absorbing the true wisdom of MENTORS like yourself. Thank you for not pushing smoke and mirror programs. Thanks for not saying words to tickle the minds of people who are trying to find a better way and truly accomplish the AMERICAN DREAM. Thanks FOR BEING REAL in an UN-REAL WORLD.
    Your Friend and Student,
