Is It Real?

Here’s what I know about you.  Right now you’re facing one of two scenarios.  And they both spring from one of the deadliest threats to our business:  Doubt.

Scenario number one is when you doubt the business.  You doubt whether it’s real, whether people really do make money, whether duplication really works, whether it can all work for you.

The truth is, there are lots of people struggling in our profession.  People face rejection, people drop out, and there are always new challenges.

Another truth (though not well known) is, a lot of the “successful” people in our business got sweetheart deals that you don’t have.  And others don’t really earn much money from the actual business, but “mine the miners” and get their income that way.

And that creates doubt.  Big doubts for a lot of people.  Maybe even you.

But I want you to know, the dream is real.

Yes there are challenges, people struggle, and there are people with questionable ethics in our business.  Just like there are challenges, people struggle, and there are people with questionable ethics in every business.

But our business is different…

Because we really are the last bastion left in the free enterprise system where someone without degrees, connections or money can still become free.   I know because that is my story.  I didn’t get a deal, I didn’t have those degrees, connections or money, but now I am free.

What we have to offer is better.  And the dream is real.  I just wanted you to know.

Next post we’ll look at the second scenario…

  1. I can attest to the fact that the dream is real and worth pursuing even with the setbacks that will sometimes come, even for successful distributors. It’s hard and frustrating work at times. You really do need to somewhat detach your emotions from your business, but I know that it can become really emotional for people when you put all of your energy into your business.

If you are feeling extraordinarily frustrated, take a break and do something fun. Give yourself a day or two. Spend a little time reviewing your strategy… don’t just keep doing the same thing over and over… although you need to set a direction and stay with it a while, then review and make tweaks, then try again. Get feedback from people when you can, but don’t take serious negativity to heart.

  2. Its’ simple but not easy… there are ups and downs but we need to stick through
    it…. the dream is real,

  3. Randy: Oneof the worst things that happens in our profession is when someone gets a sweetheart deal but doesn’t owe up to it. Example: You’re at your annual conference and some hot shot is introduced as one of the top earners. You find out later that the hot shot was recruited away from another company, got $$$$ for making the move and took his best people with him/her. Another example is if you’re in a nutritional company and you meet someone who rose throught the ranks quickly only to learn that he/she is a doctor or chiropractor. The person has a built in dedicated audience – of course they are going to rise to the top!

The rest of us – like me – realize that those types of situations are the smoke and mirrors of our profession and not the reality. The reality is that you have to work smart, hard and take consistent action. This is an wonderful profession with fantastic opportunites. JL

  4. Thank you Randy! We all have these thoughts or feelings from time to time so thank you for the encouragement! The dream is real and alive! Take care…

  5. Thanks for the message of hope Randy. It helps to have a mentor who has gone through all of the trials, that we can identify with and learn from, so that we know that if we continue to learn and grow, we too will realize our dreams. David

  6. I for one know its real! Not only for me but for many people working with me. There are many, many success stories…and we do have to remember that success comes in different sizes and shapes for each person.

There are sweetheart deals in every profession. Life is NOT fair. But in our profession they are not taking away our opportunities….that’s the difference…there is room for everyone’s success. The system will work for those who persevere. I think one of the most frustrating things a leader can go through is when you see someone giving up on their dreams, when you KNOW that just a little more effort and persistence and they would have been THERE! You try to tell them : Nooooooooooooo! You’ve nearly made it. Dont stop now!
So go for it you doubters…Its real!

  7. The more time I spend learning and doing this business, the more I appreciate it and love the human drama that we all experience. It is real as we make it to be. I am so grateful to be in MLM.

  8. I’ve met you before in Cleveland and think what you teach is great. But If you our a straight shooter, let me ask you this what made more money? Consulting and training, your book deals or your Mlm business, I know you struggled at first you’ve stated that in the past. Companies folding right at the 2 year mark.So what really made you stick with it? You know what with a mortgage and all the bills to pay .
Sorry I’m trying very hard to stay optimistic.Trying to let the tools talk etc. And after two years still haven’t made it to the break even point.

  9. Having your dream keeps you going and alive. There will always be doubt, but you must believe in yourself and what you are doing. Seek advice from the ones who struggled and succeeded.

  12. Most people don’t realize it actually takes work to make it in Network Marketing. Most quit before they make it. But some have figured out the way to make it and replaced their full time paycheck with a bigger one, part time. The dream is real like Randy said, we just have to be willing to get. Great insight Randy

  16. Thanks Randy! The dream is alive and so real in this great business of Network Marketing!
Glad to be part of it.
    Make it a great day!
    God Bless!

  17. For beginners it always looks magic how the leaders built this big teams.

What really helps is to ask one of the leaders in your upline to show you exactly how he developed his business beginning at the first guy who joined his team.

I did it and it was a really great experience!

Now I have an exact picture how it can happen and that there is no miracle, no hidden trick or some secret that our upline doesn´t tell us.

It is only work and mindset!

    Best regards

  18. Randy, after spending 6 hours with you at the Malaysia Leadership Session, my biggest takeaway was your rock-solid INTEGRITY. Thank you for anchoring my belief, even stronger, in the industry, our company and the leadership. Have a safe trip home!

  19. Many a times I can see IT is real for many others around me who have achieve successes. And many a times, I hope I can see it being real from myself real soon. And very often, I just can’t see how it can be real from me. And that leads me to doubt myself. I trust you, Gage. So I choose to believe, ‘Because we really are the last bastion left in the free enterprise system where someone without degrees, connections or money can still become free.’ Very well said. I shall press on, aspire to be a network marketing professional.

  20. Randy:
Still holding on to the dream. Lost faith in my company (XXX). How do you know when to make a change?
    God bless us, every one.

  21. I agree the dream is real. The doubts will always appear. If you have a real commitment to keep you moving through what YOU have to go through the journey will be more important that any mornings set of doubts. If what you have is a wish or a good idea the doubts will disappear any chance there is in accomplishing what has to be accomplished for your dreams to be fulfilled.

  22. Excellent Randy. The dream is real there are ups and downs but we need to stick through coz its a wonderfull profession with fantastic opportunities. Thanks for reminding us,l appreciate all you do to keep us on track.

  23. I know the dream is real. But wont fool myself. Ive been in 5 MLM’s in thee past fifteen years and my list? Everyone that sees my name on caller id about every 2 years know why Im calling. And they run!!! I guess cold market is my only choice. I dont have much free time with 4 kids all about to start collage and I work shift work.. What now???

  24. That’s EXACTLY where I’m at right now. I’m at the end of month one, no sign-ups. Been really training and learning as much as I can, and am now approaching people daily. Gets frustrating as I constantly ask myself “is this real?”
