Are You Facing Ridicule?

So has anyone made fun of you this week?  Told you that you’re wasting your time?  Has anyone in your family suggested you should quit the business and stick with a real job?

Well if not, you’re probably not working.

For every person seeking greatness, there are dozens more charged with safeguarding mediocrity.  And if there is anything mediocre people hate, it is seeing someone building their dreams.

So how about you re-frame your mindset on rejection, ridicule and criticism?  Because if you are facing this stuff, it means you’re actually building your business and moving forward.  And if you’re not facing it, you’re not.

I earn millions of dollars in the business, destroyed my alarm clock, and have a dream lifestyle.  And still have people that look down on me when I approach them because they think MLM isn’t a “real” business.  I even get some snarky comments or ridicule.  Now naturally I think they’re crazy, but I have learned to celebrate such ignorance.  Because it means I’m in action.

If you’re not getting some blowback, it means you’re not moving on.  So that brings back the original question…

Has anyone made fun of you this week?

  1. Bang! You hit the nail. Finallly.

I feel a burden leaving my back. Rejection and ridicule really is the stairs to climb to the peak of the mountain. It is how I choose to define (or redefine) it that will give me the gas to keep moving.

If I’m not facing rejection, them something is not going the way I want to.

Thanks Randy. This one hit home.

    UHUUUUUUU

  2. Hey Randy.

    You hit the nail. Thanks.

It is how I redefine rejection and the ridicule that will allow me to go up the stairs needed to get to where I wish to be. Not only in MLM, but in any area of my life.

Your example is soooooooo great, because it doesn’t matter how good or wealthy or prosperous I am, people will still do it. It is their reaction, their way of acting.

Great message. Thanks from the heart.

  3. Hi Randy. While I agree that some people will be wet blankets to your dreams, I would also suggest that when approaching people, knowing the answers to the following questions may help:

    1. What does your business do? Very important to have a concise (short) answer.

    2. Are you selling or recruiting? What kind of prospect are you looking for? Rather than recruiting everyone, seek people who fit your profile. “Do you know anybody who…”

    3. Are you serious about being in business or are you looking to get rich quick? Serious business people will get more credibility.

Understand too that you build an image for your business over time. Be the person you want to be and eventually people will see it in you.

Don’t give up on your dreams because of one negative person but make sure to always be improving your skills.

  4. Are you serious?People are making fun of you because you are making a 6-figured income a month in Network Marketing?
I even get some snarky comments or ridicule. Now naturally I think they’re crazy, but I have learned to celebrate such ignorance. Because it means I’m in action.
They are probably are afraid of their own greatness. I was.

  5. Scepticism and negativity are the fuel that powers the engine of success. Channel it, use it to move you toward your goal and show them all just how wrong they are. Dream killers are self serving in that they stopped dreaming long ago and can’t take the chance that you might achieve your dreams when they couldn’t.
Through our success we can only hope to be an example to those that they can dream again. Never let anyone tell you what you can’t do, show them what they can do by example.

    1. Hi Randy,
Being a retired health professional, it was not easy to recruit people in the MLM either they smirk (at distance not to my face) saying it’s only a big scam, only the top people make the money.
They tend to diminish something they don’t know or the worst are the one who believe the entire smock they read on internet. I’ve been in MLM for 15 years now and 14 of those were done part-time, made my first million while part-time and even that couldn’t convince some of my confreres.

      Love your blog

  6. Why is it that people do like to belittle others that are trying to better themselves? Is it jealousy or it makes them feel inferior because they have nothing going except an 8 to 5 job, and then they go home to watch tv for the whole evening?

  7. Of course! Got it today. My husband doesn’t see this industry as a real business. It just fuels me more, to prove him wrong! 2010 is going to be my year. I know it, feel it, believe it! : ) Watch me grow!

    Gina

  8. Of course, It is like they say, :are you still doing that?” and i tell them hell yeah and proud of it

  9. so true, Kristen

I get it all the time, like why do I bother trying!!! but I still keep plugging away!

    great message!

  10. Thank you Randy for this post. As i was reading it in my mind pop up some citation – “life is10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it”.

  11. Wow, that´s a great post today.

    Thank you, Randy!

I have to tell this my team at our weekly meeting today in the evening.

I have never seen it in this way and it is always a topic.

    Best greetings from Austria

  12. …of course Randy! Can I say often? It is! But it’s like that and I’m not troubled about! With my best wishes for 2010

  13. YESSS! every day. I’m imagining myself polishing a truckload of rocks that someone unloaded on my yard. In there I can and will find 5 diamonds that will make me a residual income of $25 000, each per year. There is going to be a lot of “rocks” to throw away. Who´s in a hurry?
Thank´s Randy for your thought´s and insigt´s. You are a great inspiration to me. Se you at the top!

  14. I grew up in a large extended family that spread from northern Minnesota through Wisconsin to Chicago. Making fun of each other was for babies. The practice of ‘Cut Up’ was almost mean spirited and cut as close to the bone as words could and often shredded your heart into ‘crazy bone’ stinging size pieces. Being able to take it AND destroy your cousin with one sentence that put them into tears or a rage was a game built to toughen you. No stranger has the ammo that family has. The art of the poignant comeback either wrecks your chances, creates an opening for further conversation or creates instant friendship. As you say, “You cannot say the wrong thing to the right person.”

For some I say “Don’t have a lot friends do you.” and one that works for all ages now is “So they wouldn’t even let you fill out an application at McDonald’s huh.”

Rejection always returns me to my childhood and sometimes the winner just smiles and says “Thank you” with a perfect gratitude tone.

  15. Hey Randy
“Has anyone made fun of you this week? “.

rade on the donkey. anther man saw them and commented:”what a bad ather who make his young poor boy to go on foot.when he ride on the poor donkey/
the father get down, and walked on foot neer his son and the donkey.anther mansaw them walking and commented. “look at those stupide ersons, which walk on foot beside ther donkey.at last the father and the son became confused from all the comment of the persons in ther way, and did not know
what to do fo not to get more commens. the took the donkey on ther back and contiued to go on foot.

  16. Absolutely!!!! You know I have gone from counting “No’s” to to counting how many time folks make fun of me. I’m always nice to them cause you never know when their light bulb MIGHT come on one day and want to join me. And for the others,,, well,,,, Somebody has to serve us dinner, clean our boats and tend to the landscaping on the property.
Remember, It you’re not having fun, Don’t do it! 🙂

  17. It’s funny Randy,

when I started to read your post I felt embarrassed because the things you were saying had just happen to me, but when you say that if it hasn’t happened to you it’s because your not working hahahahahahaha, I just started to laugh, I felt the immediate connection, you get it. Sometimes I forget that the ones that got already to the top struggled with all this stuff too!

Thanks a lot for this one, it reinforced me!

    Diana.

  18. Yes, Randy. I use to see snarky comments on your pages. Now I understand that it means you are in action. It’s so great. I love the way you transform black into white. Thanks for your sharing!

  19. Thanks Randy.
Needed to hear that today. Never thought of rejection and ridicule in that way before. Time to take more action and stir up some more stuff.
    Make it a great day!
    God Bless,
