Developing Your Next Leaders

So we’re dealing with the issue Meitham raised about the people that stay below the radar and don’t bubble up as leaders for a long time.  As he rightly pointed out, this business is about growth and development, and giving people a chance to blossom.

But that doesn’t mean you can drag them across the finish line.  You can’t…

More than likely, they will be trying to drag you backwards in the meantime.  So how do you best deal with them?

Well of course we want to love them and let them grow.  We need to be supportive in the meantime and offer help when asked.  But until they make a move the best way you can do that is with group resources.  Things like webcasts, conference calls, and your regular events are what allow your people to “get it” and begin to develop.  And probably nothing does this more than the major events.  That’s why you must push these strong and create a culture where everyone attends these.  Nothing bubbles up potential leaders more than major events.

Unless it is your personal development program.  Which is the other thing you have to create a strong culture behind.

If you have all this group infrastructure in place, you will have a steady stream of people raising their hands and making moves.  Then go down and work with these potential leaders and you’ll create excitement all the way up the line.

  1. Hi it’s Peter Beckworth here, in relation to the answer of the chess match principle, people need to rember just one thing, WHAT’ was the reason for joining this this wonderful company in the first place and WHY have I changed because the company has’nt. Before i go to sleep each night i make sure that i Have’nt forgotten MY WHY. Learn to Keep your MIND on the thing’s you want to do. and OFF the thing’s that are unimportant to your furture..C O U RAGE . IN THE END, THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO FAIL, ARE THOSE WHO DO NOT TRY. So re build that PASSION you once had, RE_ find the that person that started out with YOUR WHY. Have a GREAT DAY………..

Is there a book,a CD your recomend to every new person you sponsor one? Like, okay,buddy- Trust the process– this is how it works.
    1) This is the book you need to read
2)This is the CD’s you need to get to start your personal development journey.

      1. If I may, I would like to add another book to your list that is a good starter. It is “The Go Giver” by Bob Burg and John David Mann. I add this one so that a new person to networking gets their priorities right from the start. It may save a lot of time and money. For those who have not read this book, it talks about the Five Laws of Stratospheric Success. For the most part it stresses service to others as most important.

  3. Yes, group events are extremley important. But we can help them additionally with some little, but quality privat time. As I came from the field of holistic therapy, I know from experience, that there are two things done at the same time, which can really catalise growth in another person: to be really present for them with real attention, and asking the right question from them. The question, what challenges them enough, without being frightening: just makes them to think. It does not have to take many time – just a short, but intense, privat time.

  4. The Networking Profession should be called Follow-The -Leader.
Networkers new in the business need to understand this profession is built on relationships and leadership development. To become successful in this profession a follower at some point must develop leadership skills.
    Happy New Year Randy !!!

  5. “about the people that stay below the radar “.
here is a proverb in my laguage, “when the
pupil become ready, his guru will arive for him.

  6. I have found the old saying of those you think will won’t and those you think won’t will. Randy, I like using your Chess game strategy.

    Books, Think and grow Rich
CD’s almost anything from Jim Rohn to start with.

    1. Hi Hortonal!

Please can I add something to your comment. People will join your business for their reasons. They will get motivated for their reasons. Sometimes its not so easy to see their reasons, but they are worth searching for! Getting them to recognise their reason will have a major effect on your recruiting.

I spent a lot of time asking people if they wanted to join a business opportunty, without success. Now I ask them if they want to make a change. Its much more effective!

  7. Hi everyone and a happy new year!

I think the hardest thing about leadership is letting go of a distributor who just isn’t motivated. They get the picture but not the real desire.
I am starting to think this is my fault in that I am not recruiting properly or not being selective enough in the first place. Perhaps I should be reading the signs sooner?

    Have a good 2010!

  8. Hi Randy.

On your question about how to deal with those who probably will drag me backwards I would just say…Leave them be!

If I have given somebody an opportunity that they don’t get and I can’t figure out how to make them understand what they will miss by not join the business, I don’t put more energy on them.

I can’t be disappointed on other peoples mistakes, I can only blame myself if I let others affect me and my belief in this business.

We are different and that is a challenge sometimes. I learn new things about myself in every meeting with a new person and I develop more and more confidence, and that is a really good thing for me.

Those people that will drag me back, are probably not mentally ready and perhaps not the leaders that I want to cooperate with.

I can’t force anyone to feel the same enthusiasm as I do about this business. They will be aware sooner or later that this is the future professional that common people wants to have in the future.

Some people get it at once and for others it takes longer to analyze and figure out that this is a wonderful chance for them to create welth and health.

I want to be professional and I want professional people around me that behave human, realistic and that not feel fear.

    Have a great 2010, everybody.
For me this is gonna be a fantastic year, I feel it in my fingertips.

    Thanks,
    Viktoria

  9. Hi Randy,

    First – Happy New Year!

This is in regards to the believethemovie site you mentioned in your last email blast.

I checked it out and I have two comments.

First: Thank G-d for the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. Allowing anyone the ability to communicate whatever they want even if it is out of spite, cynicism and ignorance.

Second: This just reminds me all the movies made about teachers and teaching by people who have never stepped into a classroom to teach. They feel that they can accurately portray what is like because of whatever distorted view of “understanding” of knowing what it is like. I have been a teacher for 20+ years and movie portrayals of my profession (good and bad) have not stopped me from my goals of being an effective educator and neither will this movie from network marketing.

Remember all movies are either all fiction or a biased perspective of the truth. Even documentaries because they still put out the message based on the point of view of the filmmaker.

i wonder if he realizes that he is using MLM to promote his movie. Let’s see: word of mouth, asking people to share the message, offering his product for sale online with the ability to have a discount for quantity purchases.

  10. This is amazing stuff Randy. You are a true inspiration and leader to us all.
Thanks for sharing this with us. I believe that we all struggle with the balance of helping people along and wanting to force them along to “get it”. We all grow at our own pace. The best we can do as leaders is to continually feed them with the awareness of things that can help as well as you mentioned, invite them to major events and activities happening in your network marketing company. They will come around at their own time. Thanks again.
    Make it a great day!
    God Bless!

  11. You know, what I have learned is that if your system is tight and it has the ability to serve people through lead generation, conversion, and profit. Your leadership ability and everything that falls under that embrella becomes easy. Most people on this page, you all are all leaders. But think about it 90% of the people that enter our business are “lost sheep in the slaughter” and they have no idea what it means to take real responsibility for their financial lives – and don’t even have a clue. Bottom line – if people make money and see “real” profit in the early stages of their business they will never need motivation.

Keep up the great work network leaders and keep the mission of helping all these lost souls!

  12. One experience we made in our small team:

Everybody that have been on at least one major event of our company have never left our team until today.

And our small but very nice team is four years old now.

So I can strongly recommend to promote all major events of your company and bring new members of your team to join it as soon as possible.

    Best regards

  13. The link for the MLM Satire film was great….

I see growth as a product of online systems rather than the meet and greets phone calls etc etc

Randy I know you see it otherwise, perhaps a combination is best, but horses for courses.
