Work and Life Worth Living
I was shocked when I arrived at the batting cages Thursday to learn of the death of Michael Jackson. Of course Farah Fawcett had died earlier in the day. Farah was expected; Michael was a complete surprise.
But people have those kinds of surprises every day…
A little while back, I saw a post on Twitter, about a woman who had missed the Air France flight that crashed, only to be killed in a car crash a week later.
I didn’t click through and read the story for prosperity reasons. But I think it’s a safe bet that it dripped with the irony of her death so short after escaping it in the plane crash. Probably talked about what a tragedy it was. And certainly any death is.
But I also see another side to that…
I think about what those extra seven days meant to her. I bet she relished them, rethought her priorities and did some things she had been meaning to do. Bet she told some people how much she loved them, gave some extra hugs, and some extra empathy. And if that is the case, we can celebrate that extra week she had.
The point in all this is we never know what is around the corner. Our business is about so much more than making money. We give people a chance to escape poverty and bondage, to create freedom, belief, and self-esteem. We allow them a chance to live a life of meaning with significance.
What you do is important.
And you don’t know when your time will come. So let me ask you this:
Have you done your best? Have you provided for your loved ones? If this were your last week, would we look back on it with celebration of how you lived it? Because there’s still time…

Reading this reminded me of when my father passed in 2002. My first few years in the biz I had dreams of being able to do things with my dad once I got the biz to a level that I could walk away from my job. I hadn’t gotten to the level that replaced my day job income at the time my dad was diagnosed with Leukemia. Unfortunately he passed 6 months later. It was a big wake up call & seriously woke me up to what I was capable of doing. From there I stepped up & made life happen. If you were given $1 million & 90 days to live what would you do different than you are doing now? If you’re answer is everything it means you are doing nothing you want to do. Why settle for that? You were meant for greatness! Live!
The truth is, I say I work hard to play hard – but often I just work hard and forget to play!
Thank you for this very real reminder to live this one wild and precious life!
How true Randy, this is Francis (Malaysia) … people are just call back within a short time by God. Well I’ve slow down in prospecting because if not because of God’s prompting after seeing a prospect to visit my sick godmum, I guess I’ll will never had the last two days with her before she pass on in May 15, last month.
Randy, Great blog post. You have a unique way of helping people rethink, refocus and recharge. I know I certainly haven’t done my best yet in business, fitness or prosperity yet. We never know how much time we have left and I’m blessed that I have the opportunity today to work on being the best I can be and appreciate life to the fullest!
Randy, Thank you for sharing your thoughts and insight. I am new to network marketing, I believe in my company and people, have been orphaned and hang-dog lately; but you have been a tremendous blessing to renewing my “mojo” and faith in I do make a difference in peoples lives…if I expose them to what I am doing. Thank you so much!!
Nice post. We all need to sit back and analyze ourselves. If what we do is to create a better lifestyle, then are we living the lifestyle we are trying to create?
I always think of family, especially my son and wonder if what I do in life is the right thing to do for my child’s future, YES!
You are so right!
I have been thinking about that very thing lately. If I don’t go after my dreams, I am the one who will live or die with regrets.
In conjuction with that, I no longer let people influence my decisions about what I should be pursuing in life.
For the most part it does not concern them, and it is afterall, my life to live as I see fit.
Once again, thanks for the reminders,
Lucinda
Hey Randy, Very true and another great Blog. Life is and always will be… What are beliefs and dreams are. We can determine our out come based on our thoughts… yet we have so many people and things pulling us in all different directions, using up our valuable time. Lets face it, time is something we don’t have a lot of and we will never get it back. Remember… never focus on your negative thoughts and to always be in the present. Our relationships mold on us on who we are. Value them all and live life.
Randy,
Thanks for the insight you give on life and how we should enjoy it more by not taking it for granted, because it certainly is not. We do not know when our next breath will be our last so I like to live like this may be my last minute.
We should look at life in that way and think about what we say, do, and think all the time. Make sure we let our loved ones and friends know how much they are loved and appreciated. We all have put off things longer than we should have and I am sure I will have regrets about some things I did not take care of or do.
Randy -when you shared this with us yesterday when we were in Dallas – it completely woke me up. I joined our great profession so that I could provide for my three children, live my best life, enjoy every moment and help others do the same. I haven’t done a good enough job – we get caught in complacency and take things for granted. I have hardly touched my bucket list lately or stopped enough to enjoy each day or my children enough. My step dad has onset of Alzheimer’s and he is best when my mom and him travel – new stimulation, but they can’t afford a lot of travel right now! I want to give my mom and Gary the best life they have left before this horrible disease completely takes over. Thanks for the wake up call to not waste one minute or under-appreciate that minute. “There is not such thing as time, and death does not exist”…
Time is not a real thing- ask any mathematician, and they’ll tell you that.
Ask any spiritual leader, and they’ll tell you death is just a transition.
So if I only had a final week here on Earth, I guess I’d be doing a LOT of things differently- why bother being healthy? Why bother sleeping? Why not run around naked, kissing everyone, and see who gets the prize?
Interpret that as you will…
I guess what I mean is that there are a great deal of things I would do differently if I didn’t think I had time to let one day add to the other…
For example, I would NEVER read any blog posts….!
I took a course several years ago and the instructor suggested an excersice that we all do throughout our lives. It works quite well in seeing your life: Take a pad of paper and a pen/pencil; Find a quiet, comfortable place to sit. Now, close your eyes and pretend you are 90 years old and you are looking back on your life. What are the things you haven’t done but wish you had? What are your regrets? What are the changes you wanted to make but never did? Write them all down and then realize that you are not 90 and still have the time to make those changes and live a fuller life. Yes, our number can be up at any time, but living a healthy life with a positive attitude can help prolong our time on this rock.
What a great idea! I’m going to do this.
I saw Revolutionary Road last night and realized we aren’t living in the 50’s anymore although a lot of people’s mentalities still are.
I also flew back home last night from a remarkable conference and thought to myself that if the plane I was on went down, I definitely wasn’t ready yet.
Yes Randy the time is now to always reflect on what we are doing each day because it may be our last.
In The book: The Slight Edge Jeff Olson points out a time line of life filled with doing the Right things consistently brings a life full and a life filled not doing brings a life of regret and blame.
In the book: Simon Says by Chuck Goetschel we learn how to prepare, find and live a purposeful life of OUR choice.
In the Greatest book ever written: The Bible, we read how we are designed to live a life as God desires we live. Seeking FIRST, Him with a direct purpose to helping others along the way.
If the above is followed there will NEVER be a time of looking back and having regret.
Just think of how many others each one of us could touch in a positive way living as given above.
For those of you reading this….
What are YOU going to do Now?
God Bless,
Robert
Randy,
These thoughts are on my mind often, since I am a senior citizen caring for other senior family members.
At the same time I’m working on building a business to make life easier financially for us and for others. You have made some very good points which I find encouraging
Thanks
That was great! Thanks for the thoughts today Randy!

Worst thing is these people did not die a natural death, but people are too gullible to realize this…
Please, don’t make this into yet another marketing and sales pitch…

Every day am reminded of Gods great gift of life. There are miracles everyday surrounding us. At one point I was working 3 jobs to raise my children. I was a single mom and took my responsibility very seriously. I didn’t have time to enjoy and live a life I wanted. With this business I now see what God intended for me. This business opportunity was given to me as a gift for all my years of hard work. With each rank advancement I achieve, and in the process help others like myself, I am finally enjoying life! And yes, If my life ended today I know I have accomplished almost everything I set out to do. But like yourself I still have a lot of life in me, especially with grandchildren now!!
Thanks for the thoughts Randy! It’s good to take some time to think about our priorities and see if they are aligned with our values.
Some months back a lady in our mastermind group was having doubts about herself which caused me to have doubts I thought a lot about what had been said and sent her these thoughts. Reflecting on what was said I was having doubts myself and I remebered my history or some of it, in school I had a fist fight with a teacher he had said some untruths about my father in front of my mates he lost the fight I lost the war they said I would end up in jail and never amount to anything. When I met my wife , my family said it wouldnt work she didnt know one end of a broom from the other. When I wanted to join the Royal Canadian Mounted Police they said I couldnt I didnt have enough education. When I said I wanted to learn to fly they said it cost too much and it wasnt practical. When I said I wanted to start a grocery store they said I couldnt do it I didnt have enough money and it was risky. When I started networkmarketing they said I wouldnt make a dime. So who are they anyways. What happened was I finished school a bit late studied law and accounting. I didnt end up in jail but as a member of the R.C.M.P. I did help put a lot of dummies in jail, I was attached to work with the F.B.I. and was one of only four people to be trained for the position and was taught how to fly, ending with several hundred hours of flight time. My wife and I have had forty two years together we have owned a 29000 sq ft grocery store. Since I started networking I learned a lot about making money and keeping it. My wife and I often say that if we had not made money in networking what we learned would have been worth it. We have made good money from networking, we live close to a lake with over two hundred miles of shore we have no debt and have three awesome sons and four wonderful grandaughters. I play at fishing riding my snowmobile or atv. I say all this not to brag or puff me up. Beacause after reading about that lady with only one week I realize that I have fallen short and it is time to get to work. By only starting one more person today we could leave a legacy behind, you never know that person could be the next Rady Gauge. We shouldnt listen to the people that are so broke they cant pay attention. Thank you Randy for this I know for me it has caused me to get off the side lines and get moving. It is time to get a bigger dream again thank you Randy
Thanks Randy, good insight!
Thank you, Randy. It really go to me when you shared these thoughts at Master mind yesterday. Your influence continues to grow…thank you, Randy.
As always Randy great blog. I’ve had several moments recently thinking about mortality and am I doing enough with my life. Loosing my Dad, facing my brother-in-law’s cancer issues and having a disabled daughter all keep me focused on the WHY. I hope i’m doing enough. Can always strive for better. You are a incredible blessing in so many lives. Great thoughts to ponder….Thanks RG
Hi Randy
This hits home I live with a time bomb inside me every day I just wait for it to go off. It really does make you think twice it is very hard on my family to live like this. But what are you to do? nothing you can do except live every day to the fullest.
In networkmarketing profession, unlike other professions, when you are alive, you are responsible and respectful of your people because you uplift the LIFE of the people in all aspects.Imagine for a moment lakhs of your team members are attending your death funeral from all over the world. EVEN DEATH IS RESPECTFUL IN NWM
Life is an opportunity. Rise to it!

Hi Randy
people seems to take life for granted.. I live one day at a time my health is very bad. you have to keep going the best you can
It’s good that we don’t know when it’s time to go … and unfortunately that’s the reason that we forget to live too often
Hi Randy,
remember the time on Sunny Isles Beach……..20 years ago…… I’m back to help, will you join one of the meetings ? http://www.meetup.com/DoctorEnergizer/calendar/10747877/
Randy,
Extremely thoughtful words. I totally agree. None of us know when our no. is going to come up; i am a 14 yr cancer survivor, and I made a commintment a long time ago to not ever take life for granted, and to always thank God for his blessings. This extra time I was given here on earth has allowed me to watch my grandchildren up, totally priceless.Anyway, my mission now is to help them to become debt free and have the freedom and the time to spend with their loved ones. Maybe I can convince them on day to stop trading time for money.
Thanks
For goodness sake stop chewing on the bones of people just to sell a few more boxes… Is this your idea of leadership…???
Today I celebrated my 30th wedding anniversary, I never looked forward and wondered would we ever make it.. We just did what we needed to do and continued on..Am I where I wanted to be, not yet.. But the accomplishments are many and many with eternal results, My children are strong and accomplishing adults, each chasing their dreams with great focus..My wife and I have never thrown a harsh word at one another, nor ever went to bed with anger in our hearts, I expect that the next thirty will be even better because we learn as we go and hopefully we’ ve paid attention. Our goals are still for the betterment of our lives and to be able to enjoy our children during their adult years and their accomplishments, we also want to watch our grand children grow as well..Was the first 30 good, yes but not as good as the next thirty will be…Thanks Randy you are the master at prompting us to think about that which is important…
Thanks Randy for the beautiful insight. When my father was very ill in 2004, I beg him not to go yet because that time I was still struggling with my MLM business. I still remeber the exact words that I told him while I was crying ” Please don’t die yet, I am not yet rich and I have not yet fulfilled my dream of you, riding in my brand new car”. He fought for his life and he lived for three more years. Three weeks before he died, I visited him in the province with my brand new Grand Starex, we drove around the town and he asked me, Are you wealthy now? And I saw the look in his eyes that he was so proud of his daughter. I know that he died a happy man because he knew that I am very successful in what I am doing.
Our MLM business can make life more meaningful not only for ourselves but for the people around us. Every time I hear good stories how the business changed the lives of people in my group who were losing hope, I am glad I did network marketing. Let’s help ourselves become successful and be an inspiration to a lot of people out there. For me, I am living my life to the fullest that when my number will be called, I will thank the Lord for MLM-an instrument that gave realization of my dreams.
Randy,
You have turned on a switch that have illuminated my path. Certain things that I used to take for granted, now come into sharp focus
Thanks for a great article.
Hey Randy …keep on flying dude….Don’t stop till you get enough…MJ did that song awhile back…..remember…Billionaireship…here we come!
