Why I Believe in MLM

Wow, what a firestorm created from the comment from anonymous in yesterday’s post. If you haven’t read all the replies, I suggest you do so.  Powerful opinions on both sides.  And some good marketing insights.

Rather than responding to so many individual comments, I thought it better to share my thoughts on the issues here.  So here goes:

Many years ago I received a challenge to appear on a nationally syndicated radio show debating Network Marketing.  The host was up front and told me that he felt MLM was a scam and wanted someone to debate him live on the air.  Naturally I jumped at the chance.

A lot of what was said there is completely relevant to the discussion we’ve had on the blog over the last few days…

The host pounced right away with the argument, “Randy, isn’t it true that only five percent of the people get rich in network marketing?”   I responded that this was very likely.  And also challenged him to name other businesses that had a higher percentage of people that became wealthy.  I reminded him that most businesses would have a smaller percentage.  Things like real estate, which certainly had created many millionaires, probably had a rate less than one percent.   The host was forced to concede this.

Then to explore it deeper, I raised the following scenario:  Let’s suppose someone joins Herbalife, Shaklee, USANA, or some other nutritional company and doesn’t get rich.  But they do use the products every month, and become regular nutrition disciples.  They lose some weight, lower their blood pressure or cholesterol, or prevent diabetes.  They have more energy, can play with their kids, and maybe they live five or even 10 years longer.  Suppose they never earn more than $100 a month in their business, but they get those health benefits.  Isn’t this a good thing?  A very good thing?   (Of course we can make the same argument today with Mona Vie, Vemma, Xango, Agel, and a host of other companies.)

He acknowledged that, and then suggested that the profession was corrupt, because new people were being front loaded to buy $50,000 worth of products when they began.  I thanked him for raising the issue and admitted that this had been a problem in the past.  Then I went on to tell him about the Direct Selling Association (DSA) and their code of ethics.  I explained that any reputable company would be a member of the DSA, and to do so required a one-year probation period, and their compensation plan would have to abide by the DSA code.  And the code required that no one be allowed to purchase more products or services then they could reasonably re-sell with 30-60 days, and that they must offer an inventory buy back policy.  Of course he was unaware of all this, was glad to hear about the DSA, and agreed that this would prevent the front loading.

It went on like this, issue for issue.  Finally by the end of the program he actually came around and agreed that legitimate network marketing – not illegal pyramids and chain letters – was a good viable option for people looking for a better life.  And I believe that is truer today than it has ever been.

And by the way, if anyone is worried about being victimized by a Ponzi scheme, they should be much more worried about their banker, Wall Street broker or their government than a network marketing company!

Regarding some of the other issues raised on the blog…

Personally I don’t find MLM products over priced as a rule.  There are skin care lines that are vastly superior to the gooky junk being sold in department stores at a fraction of the price.  Companies like Shaklee, Amway, and Melaleuca pioneered good value, concentrated cleaners with green packaging many years before it became fashionable.

Other products are certainly not the cheapest, but offer quality and value not available elsewhere.  I’ve been buying Oxyfresh mouthwash and toothpaste (at $9 a tube for years) as a retail customer, because they have a scientifically proven process to prevent halitosis that no store brand can compete with.  As I mentioned in the MLM Manifesto, our profession has brought many helpful products to market that need to be conversationally marketed, and never would have made it in a traditional retail environment.

It is true that some companies in our business have products priced higher than equivalent ones.  But those products eventually die.  The free enterprise system self cleanses anything like that.

As far as the cost of entry, that dog don’t hunt with me.  I have failed in numerous traditional businesses, including two restaurants, a hairstyling salon, and a retail store, because I didn’t have the tens of thousands of dollars necessary to start them up successfully.

My friend has three Burger Kings and he has millions invested, personal guarantees for hundreds of thousands of dollars more.  He has hundreds of employees to worry about who will call in sick, quit without notice, and steal from him.  He’s the guy the police call at 4 am when the alarm goes off.

I have a business I started for about $1,500, I earn $1.5 million a year, and have no employees and can run it from a laptop under a palm tree anywhere.  And I don’t have to wear a paper hat.  Tell me who has a better business!

Especially in difficult economic times like these, the opportunity we have is meaningful to many people.  And becoming helpful to many more by the day.  Let’s not get jaded with all the big numbers.  The truth is, even bonus checks of $400 or $600 a month would help millions of people right now.  And the checks of $1,000 and $3,000 a month are transforming lives.  They pay for better schooling, medical care, car payments, mortgages, charitable donations and much, much more.

The best thing you can do for poor people is not be one of them!  So I’ll go back to what I said in the original post.  Go out and get the money thing out of the way.   And I don’t know a better opportunity for most people than network marketing.

Now if you still think network marketing isn’t for real, feel free to look for something else and we wish you the best of luck.  And if you agree that what we do is important, get out there and spread the word.  Talk to five people about your business today.

Hope you guys in Canada and the US have a safe and fun holiday weekend and celebrate your independence.

  1. Randy ,
Thanks for saying what I was thinking when I read all the post by anonymous. You saved me a great deal of time (that I used for prospecting) and you said it so eloquently!
    Appreciate you,
    Ted Henry

The $1,500 was only for getting a position in your company. You need to call people, send mailers, rent rooms, train new people, fly to different countries all pay by yourself.
Probably, you invested more than $1,500 to get your group starter

    1. >>The $1,500 was only for getting a position in your company. You need to call people, send mailers, rent rooms, train new people, fly to different countries all pay by yourself.

Enrique, If I open a restaurant, what would my cost of getting a position in the industry be? I know it would include building lease, equipment lease, utility deposits, supplies, training materials and office equipment. That’s just to get my spot. If you know of a way to that for under $1500 we should talk.

The meetings, promotional materials and additional trainings are ongoing costs of doing business just like Randy’s so we can call that a wash… except for maybe flying to a meeting. If Restaurant Rob wants to spend a week in Orlando he schedules a vacation (assuming there is someone that can run the store in his absence) and charges up his Mastercard.

A leader of a large organization gets his team together for a seminar and now has a transportation to and from Orlando, a portion of his meals and lodging and transportation covered as deductible business and travel expense.

If I can go on vacation, add to my downline and their production and have Uncle Sam give me credit for that, I don’t see a problem.

  3. Comments about high entry costs and unrealistic auto ships were compared to a Burger King, etc? What does the Million Dollars and overhead of a Burger King have to do to a normal Joe making $45,000? a year desperate for supplemental income? Incidentally Walter B. Orwall my Uncle was one of the original founders in Florida of Burger King and sold out for Millions to Pillsbury in the early 1970’s; poor choice as an analogy Randy, not even remotely relevant.

    1. totally relevant when comparing startup costs of owning your own business. One Burger King is totally out of the reach of the average Joe who could get started in a reputable MLM business with comparably very low start up and with sweat equity build a long term income. Where else could he have this? And what is your solution? getting another part time job? LOL that would certainly fix his problem. Working more hours for less money, GREAT DEAL.

    2. Hi John, what Randy is pertaining to is that the difference in cost of entry between his chosen program and his Burger King friend is that Randy seems to have a lot less worry/stress and a lot less risk.
      Regards, Tony.

  4. Wow! Those are some harsh comments. Probably from people struggling in the business because they may not be in team oriented company with an upline who uses and teaches a proven duplicatable system.

Randy I appreciate your integrity in standing up for this business, and lending your time and talents to training us looking for direction. I sense some hostility in the above comments, perhaps they should reevaluate their belief in the system.

Your response sums up the issue well.

Some years back on another continent where Network Marketing was still in it’s infancy, I left my senior corporate position to start a small food packing and export trading business on a shoestring budget.

Commodity trading requires the closure of big deals at thin margins, with the added risk of currency and interest rate fluctuations. Starting with insufficient capital means you sign personal guarantees and put all your assets on the block. The failure rate is very high and dramatically more serious than failure in Network Marketing.

I had some good years and then came crashing down.

If any one thinks Network Marketing is stressful or risky, try starting any other conventional business on even 50 times the capital required to get started with a serious network Marketing company.

To me, there is no other way for ordinary people with limited resources to build a secure financial future than with the Network Marketing model.

Yes the failure rate is high, the failure rate in any worthwhile endeavour is high, the failure rate in conventional employment is pretty high right now considering today’s job loss report.

  6. My husband & I have owned numerous businesses with huge overdrafts & staff issues. Now I have got involved with MLM for the first time – it cost a little over AUD$2,000 & using our system made AUD$3, 100 in my first month. I have a significant monthly cheque coming into our household & consider that the auto-ship of product (for my family’s wellbeing) is our only overhead. We are ahead every single month with a cheque that grows while the overheads don’t.

Of course, I do put into practice what I have & am learning from my upline & I’m not afraid to go to work. It is after all a business & needs to be treated as such – or Yes you will fail like any business where you fail to take action.

    1. Good point Karen.
While having owned and operated successful small businesses for 16 years the fact that in a properly constructed NM program’s structure the fixed costs remain the same as the business grows exponentially, along with the inherent tax benefits were two key factors that caused me to initially ‘look’ into the profession in the first place. As a good friend of mine once said: “Tony, the network marketing profession is really only reserved for the very select few who are ready to open their eyes and look. Then if they like what they see they ‘get to work’ and make it happen”.

I sincerely encourage everyone reading these posts to take the time to open their eyes just a little bit and really look into the profession, not judging by what they think they know or from someone else’s failures, but from what they actually find when they themselves look at a properly constructed program, because it costs absolutely nothing to look and the rewards, financial or otherwise can be enormous.

But do not waste your time looking if you are not willing to ‘get to work’ and ‘make it happen’.

  7. Folks, Randy has been drinking the ‘MLM coolaide’ awhile-so his pitch always defends his position as a network marketer. But, make no mistake about it – the truth is that he spends ungodly amount of time maintaining his business to be profitable, including mandatory travels to all corners of the earth. Why? The attrition rate in MLM is horrendous and he must keep ‘new blood’ coming in to maintain his income. And where is the ‘freedom’ in that? No, the failiure rate in MLM is not 95%. It’s more like 99%. 99% of ALL mlm’ers make less than $40K/yr GROSS. That IS gross. Compare that to dozen’s of well established franchise where over 80% become successful. Sure, it costs more to start but it’s all about results, isn’t it? MLM is the perfect get-rich vehicle for the chosen few. Namely the owners, home office executive staff, and the few ‘big name’ distributors hired by the owner/s to be used as a ‘booster rocket’ for faster rise to the top. They know how profitable MLM is FOR THEM. Ofcourse, the heavy hitters the owners hire aren’t on the same ‘deal’ as you are. The ‘home office’ understands most will fail and it’s OK with them. They don’t have the integrity to sink funds into creating a marketing support system to help ‘Joe’ distributor make more money – instead it’s the same song and dance they tell at functions – make a list of FFRN (family friends relatives & neighbors) then it’s ‘Go gettim’ Tiger!’. No, sir. For that kind of money, all the staff could be driving a new AMG Mercedes and a 5/3 house with a pool plus a maid! Especially in this economy, MLM is a horrible choice for creating extra income. People today need to make money NOW. Not 5 years from now and not $82 a month either. Do your due diligence and pick a company that has a bullet proof marketing stategy with immediate income built into the system. Make sure you look out for yourself and your family first – not those morons in the home office in Utah.

    1. Bro, are u sure u are awake when u make tis comment? Let me tell u, u know SHIT about MLM. Pls study & update urself before u comment. U make me laugh for 15 minutes. Pls come back to 2009, dont stay in 1970! – Ivan Tan from Agel Malaysia.

  8. I’ve been a full-time networker for 25 years and a national trainer and industry consultant for 20 years. I am proud of my association with Network Marketing and the many thousands of lives I’ve been able to touch during that time.

For decades we gave satisfied product users a chance to share in the profits in exchange for spreading the word. We pioneered Word-of-Mouth Marketing and perfected the communication tools that enable fast growth. We were ahead of our time.

Today it is very interesting and satisfying to see “traditional” companies trying to catch up. TV, radio, and magazine ads are no longer the deciding factor in a person’s buying decisions. Every survey taken today show that the vast majority of people (76% in one popular survey) no longer trust ads and rely on personal recommendations from friends and family. That’s what we teach people to do very effectively.

Word-of-Mouth Marketing is now critical to the success of any company. But I don’t see those companies including their customers in the income stream. It takes a special philosphy to see that customers (distributors) are partners in a company’s success. It takes a special philosophy to embrace those people and and teach and empower them to live a better life. We are very proud of these things.

While those traditional companies scramble to catch up, Network Marketers have the advantage in today’s marketplace. It’s true that any industry that offers fast growth and large profits will spawn unscrupulous and dishonest companies. But today there are many well-respected Network Marketing companies that are changing lives and helping to usher in a new era of personal growth and abundance.

My advice to those who have had bad experiences; see the silver lining, and look ahead. Find a good established company, and share good things with all the people who need it in these tough times. They are literally waiting for someone to bring them good news and you will be rewarded in ways you can’t imagine.

  9. Reading the first couple of responses I guess I am not surprised to find gentle argumentative resistance. Even if MLM were perfect (which it is not) I’m sure many would find something to shoot arrows at.

A point to remember; MLM is not an “American thing” it is a “World thing” and over the past 15 years it has been miraculous to see the Eastern Block countries of Europe flourish with opportunities within the MLM spectrum. Never before has there been such a choice for those held under the communist boot.

South America also has been awash with new money from thousands of distributors joining an MLM programme and earning $250 – $500 per month – in many parts that is wealth! Africa and South East Asia is the same, families saved, lives prolonged.

For the past 14 years I have travelled the world and filled several passports witnessing this business unfold. Does everyone make it, no of course not. Are there families who are desperate for a break in life get what they need, again, of course not. MLM is not the magic cure (I wish it was) it is one possible answer, thats all.

For those of you who have yet to see the life enhancement, life improvement, joy and positiveness from areas around the world where those factors are scarce – I urge you to leave your state of comfort and take a look.

I live in Tokyo and come from London so poverty and lack of fortune, callous Government, Military unrest and a sub-standard life is something I have to get on a plane to find. When an MLM company finds its way into these places and it is embraced and understood you’ll see a fresh spring in the step of many simply because they have something to believe in and something to do.

Our profession is for those who want to do it. Nobody forced me to get involved in the Restaurant and Club business where I easily lost close to $1 Million, nobody was there either to help pick up the pieces.

To the ones with negatives comments and well thought out arguments about ‘why not’ get involved in MLM, I am here to say, even if you are 100% right, I am still going to do it! Seeing the happiness, the prosperity and new found belief in the faces of many is worth more than the few hundred dollars it cost to join.

I have met many people who have been working away in MLM for over a decade and made pennies not fortunes, I used to be baffled why they continued. Then I understood, I got it. They want to belong, they want to take part, they want to be around people they care for. I ask you, do you really want to pick a fight with those people? It is unfair and one sided, I would have to come and rescue you! These long term MLM penny makers have more resolve and fight than you can imagine and they have their part to play.

  10. I would just say this.. I had a friend who had a network marketing biz and she wasn’t doing too badly either.. making a 5 figure income every mth.. then, due to some personal issues, she decided to quit and start her own biz..

When I visited her retail shop some two mths later and asked her how she was, she exclaimed, “Network marketing is the easiest biz to do in the whole world!” And went on to complain about all the things she has to worry about when she started her own retail shop.. eg, who wanted to take leave, who wanted to quit… kind of like wat Randy described….

Comparatively, MLM is really the cheapest way to start a biz.. and really gives everyone a good chance to make good money.. if you dun look at the multimillionaires create.. many forget tat many pple get a better life just earning $500 extra, $1000..

Many enjoy more freedom just because it became a income replacement… And many see their lives as a result of the wonderful pdts and services…

I have since left the MLM industry but if I were given a chance to live my life all over again.. I would still do it again 🙂

  11. The point made was a comparison between a tradition biz and a network marketing biz. He opened his MLM biz and had the ability to make sales and generate revenue for about $1,500 and that figure does actually include the cost of marketing materials and the like. Technically not even that much is needed, the option to start and generate revenue for much less is available in MLM.

But either way, (now pay close attention here Mr. John Meatte) let’s compare the ability to “open the doors” and generate revenue for a startup cost around $1,500 vs. the amount needed to “open the doors” and generate revenue with a Burger King franchise (or some other tradition biz). I’m sure we can agree that the amount of money needed is substantially more and the risk and liability taken on is much greater for the traditional biz, right?

Good for your Uncle who founded and sold Burger King to Pillsbury back in the 70’s but what has that got to do with the average person wanting to go into biz for themselves and take control of their lives.

The ability to open a Burger King restaurant (or found something like that and franchise it out) is simply not an option for the average person just starting out.

    I hope this help.

  12. Great article Randy. I’ve never had outstanding success in MLM but I believe in the concept. I’ve seen corporate cultures where it was all about “me”….and you were in constant competition with the people on your left and right for raises, promotions, and the right to not get laid off.

MLM offers a breathe of fresh air from that environment. The more you help others succeed, the more you succeed. Instead of working hard to beat the next guy, you work hard to help the next guy, and the next guy, and the next guy…

  13. Out of all comments, perhaps Bones Rodriguez got it the most. To most others, just read the post again. Negative etc. are your own conclusions and interpretations, and if negativity is such an issue it might explain why network marketing seems to be just a bit biased and out of balance.

So, how about the employees of your network marketing company? If it’s that good, why aren’t they doing it? And are they also mediocre?

We’re not responsible for the reactions of other people and perhaps you can never really win an argument anyway.

So, for most people it’s all about catching the right network marketing company and the rest will follow with hard work doing it right? Wow, what a perspective of the world…

    Finally:

Regarding skin care, try virgin organic coconut oil and castor oil for perhaps 1/100 of the average MLM skin care price and much better!

To shield against swine flu etc., do a combo of drinking distilled water, taking Dead Sea salt baths and ingest Hyssop herb.

Other products still available in stores that you should get making more for your health than most MLM products out there are Cornsilk, Goldenseal, Red Yeast Rice, Sarsaparilla and Turmeric.

Resveratrol we all know about and I think that’s even included in some MLM products out there and it’s actually more stable as a supplement than in wine.

Some people need to chill with St. John’s Wort and Kava Kava, and fish oil heals your nervous system.

Royal Jelly will keep your hormones in place.

Nature’s most perfect food is raw organic honey.

I could go on and on but I guess it would be too negative for MLM.

And by the way, I’m not making a dime out of those recommendations that do work, even though it seems to be more than what most MLM doctors have a clue about.

    1. I, too, love all the natural, individual foods, herbs, oils and regularly frequent natural stores to get them. I am also a very grateful user of MLM supplements that have given me a whole new level of wellness, giving me results beyond what I had ever gotten from all the natural rememdies combined! I still choose to eat great quality organic foods and supplement those with fantastic results! The value I receive in benefits is priceless to me!

  14. You can’t argue with individuals that don’t get the concept of ” you are what you think” And what is more amusing, well sad … is they prove it over and over to them selfs every day!
“if you think it wont work … well it wont ”
See there right again … it didn’t work for them .

  15. a lot of people just don’t get it no matter how good you are just do like RG says present them the opportunity and move on, let them decide if they decide not to do it well it’s their lost not yours NM is just going to keep growing there is no stopping to it ,it’s the future of doing business no matter what people say it’s just gonna keep getting bigger………….VG

  16. Why would anyone even listen to, let alone comment on the uninformed opinions of someone who doesn’t even have the courage to step out from behind “anonymous” and stand up for their ‘convictions’. If you’ve got something to say, stand up and be counted for goodness sake. Otherwise sit down and keep quiet!

I’ve been in and around this industry for over 20 years and experienced both success and failure – quite often the only difference being poor choices or judgements on my part! What I have always loved about this business (this way of life) is how it rewards effort, commitment and the genuine process of one human being helping another, whether it’s to eleviate poverty or shine a light on a more accessible way out of whatever jam they might find themselves in!

No one is rewarded for long for ‘luck’ or for ‘talking a good talk’ – they just can’t last because they miss the fundamental point of Network Marketing, which is, that to be successful, you have to help others be successful. There’s no choice and no shortcut; that’s just what we do!

I was once told, early on in my career as a Network Marketing professional, that there is the moment when you get into NM and then there is the moment when NM gets into you! It’s when that moment comes that you start to truly understand what we do and begin to recognise the great contribution we, as a profession, have made and will continue to make around the world. Intrapreneurship (entrapreneurship with the risk taken out of the equation) is what is setting the masses free in this new and more creative economy and you can see it happening in every part of the globe. The old order is broken forever; no one trusts it anymore!

At a time in our collective history when we have finally seen the true colours of our financial institutions and our politicians and witnessed the incalculable damage that their recklessness and greed has wreaked upon the world, I’m very happy and proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with the likes of Randy Gage, who shines a beacon for all that is good in NM, and I would ultimately prefer to put my trust in the friend who comes to me and says, “I may have just the product or the opportunity to help with your particular problem or challenge”!

  17. I can tell you from my limited experience as a networker, that there is so much added value I got from this business, that nothing can even remotely express my gratitude to this industry.
I know that I have become a different person due to changes I have brought into my life, that had I not encountered this amazing opportunity, I would have still been stuck in the same place 3 years later.
Self esteem, new skills, new health benefits and new horizons opened up to me, But I had opened up to receive!
When you allow something new to get into your life, many new things find there way into it as well – and that is PRICELESS!
So although I haven’t made my millions YET, I have gained so much more that I have spent.
Thank You Randy for your guidance, leadership and devotion.
    Jody from Israel

  18. Incredible info.
I would not have said it better. You are really what a leader is all about.
Giving this kind of info and studding up against misbelief like you do is what this industry really needs.

    Thanks Randy

Next fiday (July the 10th) I will pay you a coffe for this ;).

    Love you all

  19. What a lively discussion this has been!

It is easy to understand why so many people got agitated about Network Marketing when it first started many decades ago. The world was a very different place then and entrepreneurs of all kinds were looked upon with suspicion. The average guy (and a few gals) made an honest wage and jobs were for life – you would try to recruit them for some newfangled scheme at your peril.

In the current century life is different – in most cases jobs are not for life, and people have more freedom to diversify and choose their own path. So I find it really difficult to understand why the profession of network marketing still divides people so sharply – attracting such scorn and indignation on the one hand and such passionate (but often defensive) support on the other. I can’t think of any other business or profession that generates this much steam! At the simplest level, it really is just another way of doing business and making money. For me the best aspect of it is the kinds of people who are attracted to join – it is so much a people business – they share common personality traits like enthusiasm, integrity, commitment and stick-to-it-iveness.

I have been in network marketing for over 13 years and I was fortunate in finding the company – via their health and nutrition products – that suited me at the first attempt, and a sponsor who understood the way I wished to work. I don’t think I would ever have responded to an advertisement, I hate hype, and the notion of rah-rah events would have scared me off permanently! If the products hadn’t worked so quickly I probably would not have joined the business – and my very sceptical scientist husband would have been able to say “I told you so”! As it is, we have succeeded in building a worldwide team via the Internet which generates a comfortable $5000 per month income – and now, at the age of 70, I know my future is secure. Being a true networker, though, I still plan to double my business over the next two years!

I get emails every day from folks in all corners of the world looking for an opportunity to lift themselves and their families out of poverty or low income, and I know from over a decade of experience that the ones who manage to do this will change the future for themselves, for their children, and for all the generations to follow. This is the most satisfying business for anyone who likes people and gets a kick out of sharing an opportunity with those who truly appreciate what’s on offer. Of course, if the focus is only on making tons of money, then you do have to work pretty hard for some years to make it happen. But for folks who are in work of some kind currently, whose main concerns are fuelled by the current economic woes and their doubtful future, surely they have everything to gain by finding a company and products that suit them and giving it a try? For me it’s a no-brainer!

    1. I just want to say that I personally love the MLM Industry.
Most people are just stuck on stupid not meaning to degrade anyone in particular, But it’s a fact that 97% of people have to take orders from someone they cannot function on there own.

And for the people who have tried MLM and failed granted they may have gottten involved with a company that did not have the distributors best interest in mind and I understand that. Don’t critize a business model that has blessed so many people all over the world find a company with a proven track record that you like and just go for the gusto.

And finally I don’t want to get religious on the negative folks who dispises MLM, But our creator was the greatest network marketer in the world he started the whole business with his 12 disciples.

In Hosea 4-6 he says that my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge, because thou has rejected knowledge I will also reject thee.

So Negative close minded people educate yourself and start thinking about you and your family’s future, because your BOSS and that J.O.B definetly is not trying to secure your future. Word to the wise If you don’t wake up and smell the writing on the wall then think about this, in todays economic climate nothing is guaranteed except taxes and death, So if you think that you are secured then when you turn 65 or 70 Yrs old and wonderd what happen why are you standing at the front entrance of Warl -Mart greeting people with a phony smile on your face mad at the world saying welcome to Wal- Mart just look back and say I should have could have but I dind’t, Because I was to negative.

  20. WOW hearing from anonymous again? YIKES! lol… dude I honestly thought you were fictitious, just a dude playing devil’s advocate. you are real and evidently offended by the replies to your posting? oops….

Have you seen the movie Get Smart with Steve Carell? There is a scene in the movie where agent 99 (Anne Hathaway) and Larabee (David Koechner) have a funny dialog.

Larabee: Let me out there, sir, I have no problem exposing myself.
Agent 99: Do you ever think before you speak?
Larabee: No, I just whip it out there. Seems to work best.

Can I call you Larabee, so I can put a name to your postings, and to give your postings more of a comical and less offending edge to them, since you also seem to just want to whip it out there without thinking first?

Larabee, you gotta see the irony in this, or at least the comical nature of the situation right?

You’re posting a negative outlook on a networking marketing blog started by one of the most famous peopke in the history of the profession. A blog that is visited and read by some of the most influential people in the profession telling them network marketing doesn’t work. I am still waiting for the punch line of the joke…. (like in the movie Finding Nemo, “you know, for a clown fish, he’s really isn’t that funny)

On one hand we have an MLM expert and LIVING LEGEND not only telling us how, but also leading by example proving it can be done. he happens to have trained thousand of distributors to DO THE SAME. On the other hand we’ve got Anonymous, (nickname Larabee) someone without a name and face telling us that MLM is not all it is cracked up to be, and you get offended if we disagree with you?

Let me share a quote with you (because it directly relates to this discussion) from Steven K. Scott’s book The Richest Man Who Ever Lived. Pg 147. in proverbs 10:17 Solomon says that the person who heeds correction or constructive criticism will stay on the path of a fulfilling and productive life, but the person who refuse (ignores or forsakes) reproof will stray off of that path.
Look at the face of any clock or watch and notice eth slight angle between two minutes – for example, between 12:00 and 12:01. That tiny angle is only three degrees. Yet if the space shuttle is launched at the moon and veers off its path by a three degree angle (a fraction of an inch) it will miss the moon by more than 13,000 miles. When we wrongly react to criticism, we will stray off the path to a fulfilling life, according to Solomon. Though it may be only a tiny deviation initially, over a lifetime or career the consequences can be devastating.

Dude I might be so bold as to say, you are off course just a bit…. !

Your advice on skin care and nutrition, thanks for sharing, it demonstrates your willingness to share and contribute, but why close with trying to place your advice over the advice of an mlm doctor?

is an mlm doctor different from a regular doctor?

do youhave any advice on how to best remove plaque from arteries? i think that would be very useful given the most recent events in the media over the past week. I heard Pharmanex has a great product, but not sure of anything else? maybe you know of something?

    gotta run for now

P.S. Purchase Randy’s Prosperity Pack Combo, only about $127.00 read, listen to, study, practice and then give us an update of how your doing in a few weeks. if it doesn’t work for you, you can always put it on your shelf for a few months and give it away as a Christmas present.

remember we’re all on the same team, just playing different positions.

    1. Yes there is a difference between an MLM Dr and a “regular” one…an MLM Dr is NOT paid off by the pharmacuetical companies to keep you sick! (Paul Zane Pilzer)

  21. Funny thing I was using another third party tool just yesterday. Here’s another book I’d recommend everyone buy it’s called: Why You’re DUMB, SICK & BROKE…..
The author’s name escapes me but his last name rhymes with Rage and that’s what this book can do to people. Anyway, I was speaking with a secretary about how many people lead a life of quiet desperation and NWM is a way for the average Joe or Jane to break free of the rat race. Well this secretary takes one look through the book and says ” If I was any happier in my life, I couldn’t stand it!” Not everybody wants to be rich because you have to screw people to get to the top and then everybody wants your money etc.etc.etc.!” Exactly the kind of thought process I’d expect from somebody that’s sick, broke and stupid.

I don’t have much time for “bummers” those people that just want to complain about something. If they did win the million dollar Powerball they’d find something to complain about also. So when somebody like Anonymous writes a flamer I consider the source and move on. You only validate the criticism by attacking the person who suffers from such low self-esteem that they would post a negative comment and not have the balls to own their criticism.

Another lively discussion though and lot’s of insight shed on this blog, thanks Randy. I hope everyone enjoys their 4th of July holiday and if you enjoy your freedom take the time this weekend to thank a veteran.

    Create A Great Day

    1. hey Craig, great advice… i’ve heard of the book also… but the authors name escapes me… i’ll google it and get my copy today.. lol….

      have a great day!

  22. Gee, how sad is this? The email after Randys is from a local retail store saying they are closing next week due to lack of money! They were financed by Bank Of America and now their dreams are up in smoke.

OK..so retail store inventory that needs selling, lose of rent on the commerical property, nevermind lose of revenue that kept 2 entreprenuers off the streets. They don’t get to collect unemployement or medical. No clue what kind of loan will need to be repaid. …. And we haven’t even started to count how many people BOA laid off.

Been there, done that and THANK GOD I now own a NM business!

  23. I love how you sock it to them right between the eyes Randy. I’m also thrilled we don’t need to wear a paper hat! Wouldn’t go well in the rainy UK climate..

  24. I’ve been my own boss full time since 2005 and part time for many years! I can’t even imagine being anybody’s “employee”-I might as well be a slave on a plantation! What’s the difference? There’s no “security” in Corporate America. Do you really want a WATCH after giving a company 25 years of your life? Is that the BEST they can do? (Ha!) Network Marketing IS the way to go! YOU decide: When you work, take vacation, take sick days, go to kids’ functions, travel, anything else you want. The only person’s “permission” you need is guess who? Right-yours! Wooo hooo-you’re the President, CEO, Secy/Treas, receptionist, and the janitor. Want to get a “life”? Start a NWM business today!

  25. It would have been great to hear the dialogue on the radio live. But I have seen and heard RG present this before. It amazes me to here the negative response to MLM or NM in general. Conversly that is what I get out of network marketing – the positive attitude that is reinforced daily! It’s great to be around people who work in the state of mind always. It gives me peace. And I try to share that aspect. It’s a great tool.

    Peace.

  26. I’m reading Randy Gage’s new book called…”How to Build a Multi-Level Money Money Machine….and I quote Randy…

What matters is that you dedicate yourself to always being a little better than you were yesterday”

How can you not achieve SUCCESS?

If you’re showing your business to 2-5 people per day and signing up one Executive or team member per day….each day your goal is to do better but even if you don’t…you’re still doing great! Right?
    Tony

  27. Hey Randy I’m a big fan, if I can add my 2 cents it would be this. In my experience with mlm I’ve found that if you invest too much into a company up front you have little to work with once you’re in. For that reason I found myself an opportunity with 0 start up costs and extra low maintenance and if you’re interested you can learn more at http://powerful5.com/

  28. Hey Randy,

Your blog is very interesting & you make it for people who have little knowledge about MLM very interesting.

I noticed that we are very much into the same interests so I wanted to drop by and say hello. My name is Reginald & I am into this kind of business too. I also work for the Federal Govt but I look forward to retiring really soon.

The economy is really bad these days but unbeknownst to many, they can have financial stability thru MLM. Sadly, a lot of people think most MLMs are scams. If only they they’d open their eyes & try to understand MLM & its concepts better…I’m sure they’ll be on their way to financial freedom.

I hope more people will be educated about MLMs thru your blog.

Please Drop by my site & say hi! http://tinyurl.com/mesvrv

I look forward to connecting with you.

  30. Very interesting posts. I think MLM has its’ virtues and liabilities just like any other business. We, as consumers, entrepreneurs, and opportunity seekers must do our due diligence regarding any home business. Knowledge is power, and there is a lot to learn in this industry.

  31. I believe MLM is the best way to create a residual income that will grow each month, the key to success is having the right mindset with a good solid company, unfortunately there is no overnight success.
