Update from Mastermind
Wow here at the Network Marketing Mastermind Event in Houston and it is simply sublime. The first night I got one hour sleep, because my poor body didn’t know what time zone it was on. So it was all I could do to present my sessions. Then last night we had the “lightning round”…
Each member of the faculty took 20 to 30 minutes and shared how they started in the business, and what their defining moments were. I got to go first, so I could slip out and go to sleep. But the other presenters were so mesmerizing, I simply couldn’t leave.
I told my story of struggling for the first five years, how I became an “MLM junkie” and the frustration and rejection I felt. Then I discussed my defining moments, as when I developed a duplicable system, and what brought me back into the field.
Donna Johnson went after me, sharing one of the most touching heartfelt stories of what brought her into the business, and the negative programming she had to face. Everyone in the room could feel her heart.
Jordan Adler went next, sharing how he struggled through the first 10 or 11 programs he joined, and revealed the ridicule he faced from his family. Then he read from his vision journal, in a very touching scene.
After that Orrin Woodward regaled the crowd and had them rolling on the floor, talking about how he first got roped into Amway, and how he broke the news to his wife. Totally crushed.
Then came my old protégée, Orjan Saele from Norway. Who only gave the best speech he’s ever given in his life. Very touching as he shared the heartbreaking story of his early days, when his own team asked not to ever speak in front of the group again, the negative publicity he endured, and how he finally broke through with the help of his wife and self-development work.
And finally Ken Dunn wrapped up the evening with his captivating story of what drew him to the business. I just got to really know Ken for the first time this weekend and I was very impressed. He came to the last one of these events as a new distributor, and returned this time as a multi-million-dollar producer and faculty member.
If Art Jonak takes these six stories from the lightning round and makes them into an album, it would likely become the best selling album in network marketing history. And I should know, because I did the current one.
All told, the first day was simply magical. There were individual sessions and a panel discussion on culture that was worth the whole price of the event. There is nothing so powerful as real people sharing their best practices, strategies and why they do what they do.
The whole vision for the event was to continue the revolution started on January 1rst, when I released the MLM Manifesto. So we all locked arms and are working together to raise the standards of the profession. It was amazing start.
I haven’t had a decent night’s sleep in a week, yet I still woke up at 6 am today, looking forward to day two. So I’m heading downstairs soon. I’ll try and check in later with more details on the weekend.

Man I SO wished I was at this event. thanks so much for giving these updates!
This was our first Mastermind event. We all need to let Art know, five years is much to long to wait. Paul and I will be attending all future events as this one surpassed all our expectations! Networking with the leaders this past weekend was priceless. The REVOLUTION has begun and we must spread the word to everyone in our down lines. Network marketing is a PROFESSION and we must work together as a community creating a strong culture. Personal development, fiscal responsibilty respect for each other and paying it forward are our keys to success. Everyone left that room with a HUNGER to grow and change for the better. Thank you Randy for that priceless lesson on Saturday. I will be “Saving To Create Wealth” not spend, spend, spend to create an illusion of Wealth. It was a privilege to meet you….Your friends Anne and Paul Sorgi
Perfect Summary of that night. The whole weekend was amazing but that last 3 hours of Friday night was magical. Great stuff!
Thank you
I contemplated not going as I was fighting the flu but am so glad I did. This was my first event and I must say that it by far has been one of the best self development events I have been to in my life. Randy, your summary is right on point and I am sure we could all write a novel about what we learned from the faculty, Art, the other speakers and the new found friends sitting in the seats next to me.
I am honored to be apart of this amazing industry and to build history with all of you!
I wish you much continued success and thank you for taking your time to share with us.
