The Revolution Begins!
What can I say but “WOW!” What a response to the Manifesto. Just the kind of dialogue I was hoping would begin. You guys are doing great work, and I’m proud to lock arms with you.
I’ve read every single posting on the blog so far. And you know what makes me the happiest. Out of more than 80 postings, there were only two morons that still couldn’t resist making a post about their upcoming MLM launch. Did they even read the damn manifesto?
Overall though, the responses were great and show the commitment of so many of you to grow our profession and make it better. Responses came from all over the world, with many of you asking about translating the document into other languages. Fine by me; let’s get the word out everywhere.
I know Jose Lopez and his crack commandos have already started a Spanish group in Facebook: MLM Revolucion and started the translation into Spanish and set up a site here: Carole asked about French, Alexander inquired about Russian and I received some emails about other languages. I’ll be happy to post these on our download site if you get them to me.
Hundreds of people joined the MLM Mastery group on Facebook, with more coming all the time. I’ll get to all of those wall posts next! We really have started something special, and this blog can be our gathering space to connect with each other and get the revolution going!
This manifesto was something I felt moved to do only about ten days ago, so it placed quite a strain on the people at Prime Concepts Group to get the pages done and the blog set up over the holidays. So I want to publicly thank them for the great job they did. Now they’re working on formatting, to make it more like my blog on RandyGage.com, so it will easier for you to read, and you’ll be able to reply to comments from other readers. So in the meantime, here’s my response to some of the questions and comments you guys posted:
Nim asked about circulating the manifesto to a wider audience, not just the top leaders. Now that it’s actually done and we have the final content, I do think it can go to a wider audience. I still probably wouldn’t give it to a prospect or a new distributor that was wavering. But anyone that looks to be a big kid should read it.
Josephine Gross from Networking Times captured the real essence of it, as she is prone to do with many things. Good to see many of the ladies stepping up to the challenge and playing all out. Great insights on this in the post by Donna Valdes.
Phil believes that most people join an MLM business because they want easy money for little or no effort, and wants us to make it clear that this is going to mean HARD work and dedication. I don’t know if “most” people do, but his point is well said.
Rachel asked what we can do about the many online marketers are now using legitimate company names to run negative advertisements and baiting them to sell something else. I see Ann Seig doing crap like this all the time. Not sure what we can do. Any ideas guys?
Michael was worried with my comments about buyers clubs, fearing that it meant people can’t enroll just to buy wholesale. No problem with that, as long as it’s not a closed system with ONLY people doing that.
John Wann wants to know, “Are you making residuals promoting the network marketing magazines?” Fascinating that you asked this. I hope you’re not against affiliate marketing or getting paid for your referrals, because that’s the very essence of what we do in Network Marketing. But no, I don’t get anything from the magazines. I recommend them because they have great content that helps all of us in this profession and can definitely move the revolution along.
And finally Roger, you misunderstood my comments on Twitter. I love it! You guys can follow me here if you like. I was just saying that we have some MLM morons that bludgeon people to death with their crude promos on all of the social networking sites. A little discretion and respect can go a long way.
OK guys, the revolution is officially started! May the Force be with us!

Good Morning Randy,
Just thought I would give you a thumbs up on the content of your manifesto.
I have been in the industry of network marketing since 1996 when I was first introduced.
I am currently with a company and have been since we started the company in 2001.
Much of what you covered is our focus point as we build our company business.
It is refreshing to hear others in this industry such as yourself to bring back the very reason network marketing was created. TO HELP PEOPLE NOT HURT THEM.
I hope you all the best, as you bring to the surface, the crap ( please excuse the reference ) of what is out there, bringing this great industry down.
The positives of this industry still outweigh the negitives and we WILL reach more and make the pie bigger. NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!
Happy New Year,
Robert “Buck” Buchholz
PS: I will look forward to meeting you some day and having a conversation about the industry of network marketing.

I have an organization of several hundred thousand distributors in 78 countries and I must say I was curious to read your manifesto but was sorely disappointed when in the first few pages you used the F*** word. If this is the mentality and limited vocabulary you have I am going to get the word out to my entire organization to avoid your materials. It would be offensive to anyone with any kind of a morality compass.
The manifesto is what it is, and I do stand by it. That is why I wrote the warning advisory in the introduction.
However, I understand that you (or others) may find it offensive and certainly respect your right to not send it to your team. -RG

I hope you didn’t stop there! There are many other words in the manifesto!
There are also worst things than using the F word! A few of those would be some of the practices mentioned in the manifesto, in the part past the F word…

Thanks for the comments, but please keep the Manifesto generic and not be linking it to sites promoting individual companies. R_G

Thanks for both the manifesto and the follow up comments Randy. Have only recently discovered your material after bumming about the industry in the UK for about 20 years and doing little successful with it.
All that changed with Duplication Nation and I love this manifesto.
As for the use of the F word, some people are a little over sensitive. It’s a good job they don’t live in Britain where it is part of everday language for most people.
Well done and look forward to meeting you some day.

Floyd….why put down the dude that has created more millionaires than anyone dead or alive? If you have several hundred thousand people why are you even reading the manifesto….You should be focused on your group and you should be earning $500,000 to $1,000,000 per month by now…..If you’re not doing this……then you’re not in the right company! You should learn from this legend in Network Marketing! I’ve never even heard of YOU! If you want to become a part of the greatest company in the world please feel free to contact me or Randy Gage! I hope you have an awesome day!
God bless you!

Please let’s not attack Floyd or anyone else for their feelings. I’m sure there are others that feel the same way.
One thing I would tell you, Floyd and everyone else, is please don’t feel that you need to defend or be responsible for what I wrote. It was not meant to be a feel-good document that everyone would agree with, just to start the dialogue. Thanks, RG

Just finished the Manifesto and was very impressed with the honesty and straight forwardness (you probably could have substituted for the f-bomb and not taken anything away from the content). Anyway, I was wondering what would be the best way to keep in contact with you and the master-mind group. I have been involved, full-time, in a hi-brid, financial services MLM for almost 9 years now and it is my only source of income. It is a great career however it keeps me extremely busy and I really don’t feel I have time to read another magazine and have never participated in blogs or face-books. I felt compelled to write this response because I believe whole-heartedly in your message and want to do whatever I can to help the industry and the potential clients/recruits that will come into it in the next decades. I want to be involved and stay connected to you and the message, but wanted to know what you feel is the best way to do this.
-please resond,
Jim
I’m not a big poster to forums or other blogs either. But I’m hoping this blog can be a gathering place for the serious professionals in the business. -RG

As I started reading the Manifesto I thought “Well, yeah… but isn’t he preaching to the choir?”… thinking those of us who were ‘waiting’ for the 12:01 release time were the ones who ARE ‘telling the truth’, celebrating and embracing the NWM industry, warts and all.
Then I started reading comments and realized… this is actually ‘new thought’ for many! Guess I’ve been one of the lucky ones, listening to ‘truth-tellers’ like Fogg, Klaver, Jonak, Shreiter, and YOU, who have been willing to tell the truth since my entry into the industry years ago.
So YES! Thank You… your MLM-Manifesto is a welcome voice that I’ll gladly share with any and all… it’s likely to give great relief, especially to those who have been paddling upstream wondering why it’s not working for them. 🙂
BTW… a better link for the Free subscription to The Network Marketing Magazine (Just want folks to know they don’t HAVE to buy the $20.09 special bundle in order to get the magazine free) http://www.thenetworkmarketingmagazine.com/FreeSignUp.asp

I’m glad somebody started “gathering” us for the common good. If there is strength in numbers, I think those numbers have to be focused and united to have any really effective strength. I appreciate all efforts to bring positive recognition to Network Marketing. Smarmy is out, integrity and respectability are in!

It is exciting to create a global community and move with inclusion and cooperation rather than small minded competition! I was pretty glad to have some of the myth’s that I have been handed, and have been touting 🙁 corrected. I’m an old hippy so I didn’t find the F word offensive… Thanks for taking this on Randy.

I am glad to see that things are put into perspective in the manifesto. People take their network marketing as a hobby and when they don’t make the 25K they were promised after 3 months, they give up. I think the profession loses a lot of potentially good people amongst the newbies because they are badly informed by greedy sponsors to begin with. Great advice in the manifesto about how to choose a company and sniff the crooks. Once you know that you are in a REAL company, it is going to take effort, work, learning and persistence. As it is pointed out, some amazing results can be produced very fast, but only by a very small minority of people with a high level of experience. Any business takes time to develop, not just a couple of months. This is about integrity and doing what is right for your future recruits, even if it means they’ll say no. If you don’t live your business like that, there is no hope for success.
I hope that this will definitely attract a group of network marketing professional who live by that principle.

I just finished reading the manifesto. Wow, I have told my team this numerous times. No, you won’t get rich in 2 years–gimme 5 and we can talk.
I have said it all along, “I love Network Marketing! I do I do I do”. I love the industry. I support the industry, I buy my stuff from Network Marketers.
BUT “I Hate The Stink of MLM”! With this report Randy maybe we can put some clorox to that stink and clean up the smell.

What fun reading Randy! I have been a “ranter” now for a number of years about many of the same issues you are in your manifesto-notably the comp plan “sizzle” crap at the top ranks( the dirty little secrets about top people reimbursed to join a different company) and the misleading info on how easy it is to make money in 5 hours or less a week. Thanks to the courage of the publisher of THe Network Marketing Magazine, George Madiou, I have been able to write and report on the good, the bad and the ugly side of our industry for a few years now! You’re right it is a terrific resource and yes it is free to join this month! Having been in the industry since 1994 ( with the same company until a few months ago) I started to despair that our industry would ever get it right so started to leave and build an online information marketing business. There I found many of the same bright, creative and entrepreneurial minds that were originally attracted to our MLM industry. Luckily I found a great new MLM company to join a few months ago full of the best people I worked with years ago AND I get to keep my online business too.A great platform to educate and inform people from. Better yet, I agree with you about the timing being ideal to attract more talented women AND support sharp gifted women to join us to break through the “glass ceiling” mentality re unlimited income opportunities that truly are possible in our industry. What a contribution in these chaotic and uncertain times to give back DREAMS to those who want them back and are prepared to do whatever it takes to make them REAL! Exciting Times are ahead of us.

Randy, What a piece of work, the The Manifesto is awesome and very true. I have known Tom(Big Al) Scheiter and Art Jonak for a number of years. They also have taked about these things. Its nice to know that their are team leaders that are guiding the toops. With the economic challenges in our todys economy we need to get the word out on how Network Marketing can make a difference in peoples lives. And its a crying shame that their are people out there that deface the name of Network Marketing with some of the things that you taked about in the Manifesto. I have not made alot with Networking yet because of some of my own excuses. But now is the time to go out and touch as many lives as possible.
I can’t understand why Networkers just don’t get it. You don’t lead with your agenda, we are out here to help others. If you help enough other people, the things that you want will come to you.
Thanks again Randy for the Manifesto.
Lets rally the troops

Dear Randy,
Thanks for the Manifesto; it’s brutal, blunt and so desperately needed to be said. We’re due a ‘shake up’ and you’ve certainly started the revolution, well done.
Let’s all build upon the legitimacy of what this industry offers; we have the opportunity to help so many people. Thanks for the inspiration Randy. All the best for 2009, John.
No doubt in my mind… this is the beginning of our next wave…
Thank you Randy

Thanks Randy for documenting what I’ve heard you say in many of your presentations – but with “in-your-face” punctuated frequently! This is manifesto a great tool that I’ll be sharing with my prospects, recruits and tribe! Gotta Revolution! Excellent!

Great manifest! This is what networking should really be about. Especially online there are so much scams I might find it sad if it weren’t downright ridiculous. “Network Marketing is best!” Viva la revolucion!

Nice manifesto Randy. It is a shame that most people do not have the attitude of giving away information without expecting anything in return. I learned sometime ago now that to help others (whether they are in your group or program or not) is the best attitude for success in Network Marketing. Too many concentrate on their own wants and not enough about their downline.
I have already recommended your manifesto to all my people and taken your advice on some of the places to subscribe inside it.
If enough of us begin to teach the truth about MLM, I am sure that within a few years from now, it will become a respectable business that people will want and NEED to be a part of to make a real difference in the world.
Thanks again

My mentor John said to read this, if only this. I am completely new to MLM. I was a school librarian for 36 years, working for a paycheck and the good of the kids! I hope I did some good, but the checks were meager.
The world is changing so fast, I’m not sure we can comprehend it all. Stores are closing, newspapers are folding, schools are floundering, communications bears little relationship to what it was twenty years ago…. We truly have to come up with new ways of doing business. You recognized that.
When I first joined an MLM, I was worried about not being a salesperson. You said we are marketers, not salesmen.
I worried about all the slew of people on facebook selling their style of “attraction marketing” and that overwhelmed me. You said this could happen.
I worried about the “pyramid” thing. You explained that.
I still have trouble thinking I might be able to do this thing, but at least I’m more comfortable with the concept and understand it better. You really summed it all up!
(BTW, OT: I love the shirt you are wearing in the video!)
Thanks!

a must reading for the entire group and from next month onwards in our training incorporated for our down line . You are right it takes time and hard work. Now we are in our 2nd year going for Director, plan is to be Corporate Director by the end of this year. I am a hotelier by profession (58) living a rather nice life, but NM got me hooked. So hopefully 2010 will be the year I can retire and can start (full time) to train ,teach ,help and deliver consistency and integrity to our prospects and down line. Cannot see how on earth you cannot get exited about this industry and I believe if there would be more people like you, we don’t really need to be worried about the future of this business.
Randy thanks for your support and hope to see you again in Malaysia.

a must reading for the entire group and from next month onwards in our training incorporated for our down line .

I read your Manifesto the other day and I thought I had left a comment but perhaps it is somewhere in the mysterious world of servers and wans. Alas as I said I enjoyed reading your view points on network marketing. Over the past two days I have given some critical thinking time to your Manifesto and decided to write this comment.
Three years ago I decided to remove all of the “don’ts, should haves, nots etc.” from my writing. It is really hard to find words to express thoughts in our world at this time because so many lives are focused on “negative thinking”. This decision has forever altered my world view for the better.
I know very little about the network marketing business even though I began in the business in 1987 as a buyer of Amway products. They have some exceptional products in the market. I also used Intra a liquid nutrient supplement that gave me great energy at that time thanks to Lifestyles. I then had a fling of clothes as a Weekenders Ladies Wear network marketer and it was great fun. Most recently I tried learning online through network marketers. At this time I take a nutrient supplement that has changed my life for the better and it is only available through network marketing. Up until a few weeks ago I explored healthy chocolate within my family.
The Top Line is this in my opinion. Life on the line is what you make of it. I have had a lot of try outs of products and networks. Two that have caught my attention are webinars that are shared through Twitter and elsewhere. I am learning a great deal from them. The second is from a network marketing business from Australia now for the first time in the USA. In one my love of travel is engaged and in the other my love of music is enriched.
These two network marketing businesses give me a chance to laugh out loud while I learn. Videos capture my senses as there is so much to see, to listen to, to engage all five senses, imagining the tastes of course. Most of my life’s work has been in marketing entertaining educational programs for all audiences, performing in theatres, dancing as a Rosebowl participant and creating in the 1980’s and 1990’s slideshows, campfire stories, films, videos and live shows in two of the hottest(pun intended) destination sites in Canada. The Forks NHS in Winnipeg and the Yukon Quest Events in Whitehorse. Both can reach -40 celsius on the cold days, even -60 if you are lucky…
Your manifesto seems to speak from your heart and your passion for network marketing. The language is perhaps necessary to get your points across, to create passionate dialogue or for what reasons you felt you needed strong words. Critical thinking was one of the most important teachings I learned during a masters degree online because my cohort saw each other for a short time and did online learning together for a long time so being able to read words, critically think about them and respond well were skills that took some time to learn. If I had written your manifesto I may have left out some words and used others. However you are a millionaire thanks to your hard work and talents and so you know more about network marketing than I do. I love network marketing because it reaches the hearts of people. Many an evening is filled with home parties, tastings and fun even at -40.
