The Power of Consistency
So New Year’s Day, I was the only guy working out in the gym at my condo. I thought, “Well so much for New Year’s resolutions.” Then on January 2, things really picked up. On the 3rd, I even had to wait to get on a machine.
Today, things are back to normal: Me and a couple regular die hards. Which speaks a lot about the herd and human nature. There are a lot of lessons for MLM in this…
The truth is, there’s not much more important in our business than consistency.
I have a couple on my team that are stuck at a middle rank and they can never seem to bust out. They come to an event, get energized, and go crazy for a couple weeks. Then they let life get in the way. They miss the local events, don’t communicate with their people and aren’t on the leadership training sessions.
Then another big event rolls around, and they repeat the process all over again…
Because their people see such mixed messages, many drop out, and the remaining ones lose respect for them. So they remain stuck, doing the cycle over and over. If they would just stay focused and committed, they’d be a lot farther along.
How about you?
How do you do with consistency? I bet you could create a lot more traction in your business with it. The first example that jumps to mind is making exposures for your business.
This is the simple act of offering someone a chance to review your business. It may mean inviting them to a home or hotel meeting. But it can also mean much more simple and easy exposures, such as sending out a first step email, or reviewing a magazine, CD, or DVD.
The most successful people I know in the business do two or three exposures a day, at least five days a week. They keep up a steady drumbeat, so there are always new prospects working their way through the funnel. And the thing is, you can really do this in only 15 or 20 minutes a day!
In some future posts I’ll share some thoughts on other areas where consistency is important. But in the meantime, please share your thoughts below. How do you do with consistency? What are some of the ways you expose your business to candidates and what kind of daily or weekly goals do you have? Let’s start the mastermind going on this.

I agree with just about everything in the Manifesto, but there is just one problem: you are preaching to the choir! My question is, how do we get this information out to those who are NOT in MLM and are not interested in being in MLM because of preconceived, old-school notions?
MLM is one of the most efficient ways of marketing there has ever been, primarily because of the recent gains in technology and the internet. Traditional business people and entrepreneurs are made to order for this, but many won’t even consider it. We need to somehow develop a way to get their ears long enough for them to get the necessary information regarding the business model. But how we do that is the question. Until that is answered, we’ll continue to talk to ourselves.
I think a change of your belief system is first on the list. The energy that we create comes from within – our emotions which are produced by our thoughts and our thoughts from the words we are hearing and saying. You get back what you are putting out there. If negative energy is what you are carrying, it’s also what you are attracting.
As for getting their ears long enough to hear what YOU have to say…how about listening to what THEIR needs are and providing them a solution. Not everyone is going to say yes, so what….some will, just keep believing.

Thank you Randy to taking the time to share this info. It’s always a pleasure to read what you have to say… As you said in the Manifesto: NM is a Profession. I’m New in NM (a couple of months) and yours everyday messages help me a lot to keep me focus on what I dreamed the first time I realize the power of NM ever… so… I share this famous phrase: Dream. Then Do.

Consistency and discipline go hand in hand. But, not always easily done. It really takes effort to keep plugging away and that’s where marching to a solid business plan helps to keep me centered.
It’s easy to get off track.
But having a simple business plan allows me to look back each and gauge my progress against my plan.
It also enables me to make sure I’m focused for the next week.
Great post. Thanks Randy.

Randy, after years of being in the industry along with yourself, I have seen many many things come and go. The one and true thing that beats all the systems and hype and all that rah rah stuff is consistency. That is the absolute key to any system and any business plan. Thanks a ton for being such a leader.
God bless,
Jimmy R. Williams

10 days ago, I wrote you – following the advice of Russel Cooper and Tomoe Warner (Tokyo)- an important email for the translation of your book “How to build a multilevel money machine” in Italian.
It was done through your http://www.randygage.com website, but I didn’t get any answer.
Did they give you my email?
Kind regards,
