The Importance of Events
So talk about perfect timing. I just got an email from one of the guys that dropped out of my business after two months. Why did he quit?
He said he didn’t have money to buy the product even. Now of course he has what most people would consider a real job and earns decent money by conventional standards. It wasn’t that he didn’t have money. It was that it wasn’t a priority to him.
If you asked me the real reason he dropped out, I would say it’s because he never attended a major function.
And we had one his second month in the business. But no matter how hard I pushed, he cried poor and wouldn’t go. And if I’ve learned anything, it is this:
People that don’t attend functions are at serious risk to drop out. It’s just too easy to quit. They desperately need the major events to develop skills, build dreams, create confidence, develop goals, meet successful people, and create game plans. Not to mention another fifty reasons I don’t have time to list now. But anyway he cried poor about paying for a $100 event.
So back to the email…
He was sending it from the Dominican Republic, where he went for a circuit party. Two weeks ago.
Like a lot of people he’ll have a week or two of fun once a year, then scrimp for the other fifty. Don’t get me wrong I hope he has a wonderful time. But it’s too bad that when he gets back tomorrow he’ll have to scrimp for the next year.
To have success in our business you have to attend the major events. And you have to create a culture where your team attends them. Everyone has a story why they can’t attend. But you can’t buy their stories. Or make up one of your own.
So, are you registered for your team’s next major event?

* Self-development materials.
It is absolutely true. If I hadn’t attended so many events over the years I would definitely have quit a long time ago.
Something happens to people when they go to a major event. You can hear it in their voice – and it’s quite different to the high they get from a conference call or online video.
After going to a major event I have found that people feel real confidence and belief in the possibilities – so much so that they start to sign up their closest friends and family members which they were often fearful to do before SEEING the other guys at the event.
After I attended my first major event I came back and told everyone that once you go you will never not go again. And it’s not the excitement, and we know there’s plenty of that, for me at least it’s seeing the big picture for REAL, seeing and meeting those who are and are not successful, seeing the differences in them and being exposed to a whole new ideology.
And then there’s the fact that no matter how good one is, there in absolutely no way anybody can recreate what happens at a major event.
Randy,
How about asking Art Jonak to host a Master Mind 6 event here in South East Asia? That would be great!
Actually we are working on that!

I went to two of my company’s worlwide conventions. I needed more basic training first such as a “prosperity workshop” before I could the Network Marketing.
I hope you can clear 5 hours or so to do a prosperity webcast next year.
I am learning more from you on prosperity than all the skills and techniques on introducing, presenting and building a business.
It seems to me that before we can write in english, we need to learn that the verb to BE is the same as am,are,is which is really confusing for someone who is learning english as a second language.
So,first check if we have limiting beliefs, what are they, change those beliefs and then built the business.
Randy:Did you find that once you started to change your beliefs the business became easier? I got your book. There is still a gap in my mind on how you went from listening to tapes in your car to making $10,000 a month. From the information I have gathered, it seems it took you 5 years or so to make that money.
thanks.
It took five years to go from being broke and selling my furniture to becoming a millionaire. So it was definitely a process, but a process well worth it.

One of the best advice I ever heard in NM industrie is that of Mark Hughes founder and CEO of Herbalife: “Whatever happens, never give up”.
