Standardized “Fast Start” Training
Our fifth component for creating duplication is a standardized “fast start” training that all new team members go through right after joining. There may be nothing more important for retention than this step.
I have found that you make or break your new team members in the first two weeks, and the first 48 hours are critical. If you get them into action and they begin getting some results, they are likely to stay around. If they procrastinate and don’t get into immediate action, odds are very strong they will drop out.
So this fast start training should include details on how to place orders, make enrollments, and perform basic business set-up procedures, such as opening a bank account, ordering business cards, having a dedicated phone line, etc. It should also take the new distributor through the process of making a candidate list, explain the sponsoring sequence, and then motivate that person to start contacting his or her first candidates quickly.
The ideal would be for your company to have customized training like this already in place. However if none is provided, I have developed a generic tool that will help you here. It is called the “Fast Track Pack,” and it includes my First Steps booklet and the follow-along audios: What You Need to Know First, Getting Started, and Secrets of a Dynamic Day. It also comes with Check Out the Biz, a generic DVD presentation of an opportunity meeting. You can use these and supplement them with any other materials available from your company. (You can find details on the Pack here.)
On the next post, we’ll look at the final component: your training event structure.
