No is the New Yes
Okay I admit it. I hate all the sales types that preach, “I love to hear a ‘no’ because after another nine no’s I know I’ll get a yes!” So I was a little skeptical when I was approached to appear in the “Go for No” movie…
But I was impressed with Andrea Waltz and she was very persistent about getting me involved. When she agreed that I could do it on my terms, I finally relented. And I’m glad I did.
I don’t buy into all the sales hype and NLP bullshit about manipulating people, and don’t think that has a place in our profession. But I do know that we are out there dealing with a lot of negative people and will certainly face some rejection. So anything that allows us to overcome that rejection and stay in the game is a good thing. And this new movie is that.
I got to see a preview of it at last weekend’s Mastermind event and was really impressed. And there is virtually a “who’s who” of the business on there sharing their insights. There are also some sharp people from outside our business like Larry Winget, Jack Canfield and W Mitchell.
It’s definitely a resource you should get and promote to your team. Find the details here.
Then after you’ve seen it, let me know what you think!

I see one poblem in all types of tools like “Word “No” between you and success”, “Dig out your dream…” and etc. is what all of them are artificial.
I mean if someone really want to go and build his network the only thing he need is his own strond reason to do this. If he/she havn’t it (before he join) then he leave our industry and this is only a matter of time how quickly he do it.
You can spend hourd, days, even YEARS to try to keep him in your network but he leave company anyway. And in this moment his upline will realise how much time they are invest in this person.
The real lesson I receive in my first year in NM industry was:
– you can not successfully motivate anyone and,
– you can not successfully change anyone.
Doing this actions distributor only waste his time. Nothing more. Much better spend this time with family or by reading an interesting book or… after all sponsor another person who are *really* have a dream.
I think our business is only business of statistics, staying power and personal fortitude.
And us you, Randy, told to us years ago: “We are looking for people who are looking”. Can not say better. But sometimes people start “looking for people who we can change and make them a real leaders by motivations and trainigs!”
I think this is biggest error in our industry.
Good point Alexander. It is not about changing people. It definitely is about finding people with vision and a dream. But even they will need some reinforcement now and then.

Hello Randy, If people say no! Ok I do not want them as customers, their reluctance is a barrier to getting familiar with and using the products, for their own benifit and success!
My time is for people who say yes and need some help!
Hi,
Some body said some where, “The only thing to fear is fear it’s self”.
Getting a “no” is not a big deal it’s just part of the job description. Lets face it how many people are out there? If you accept it is perfectly OK and normal, to be apprehensive of talking to people and getting rejected, the real thing is nothing like as bad. Finding the ones that say “tell me about it” make it worth the effort.
I believe the no’s are nothing to do with what you have to offer, but thats another story!

Well, very interesting. I understand this way of thinking. But I think you can not assume everybody is the same and reacts the same way. People’s personality make them act or react different. There is no standard. I think it is wrong to generalize. Okay, don not take it personal, when a prospect says no. Important!
But I just move on to the next.
But thanks for sharing this, Randy.
Kind regards
Stella Webber
Randy,
Thanks for the blog! Our goal is exactly as you said; keep people in the game. Too often I have watched (and myself have done!) people give up too soon and let the “rejection” and the “no’s” influence their goals and dreams. With this movie we wanted to show people – this is part of business and life; so get it, learn it, and keep going! And I am glad that you saw that and of course that you agreed to be involved. 🙂
Andrea and Richard are totally a “first class act” and I think their very authentic, realistic way of looking at the “sales process” and the “no” go a long way in helping someone who is very hesitant about this see it a different way.
And really, success is ALL about changing the way we see/view/rate/judge the whole “process.”
I was on an amazing beach bike ride today with my husband and I was sharing (yelling ahead) my story of when I first approached a neighbor of ours about our business, almost 16 years ago. He had forgotten the story, but let me tell you – I NEVER HAVE!!!
She threw her head back and laughed out loud that “I had gotten involved in one of those.”
The “white hot” feeling of part humiliation and part anger burned in me for YEARS. I turned that negative into a positive form of motivation that STILL inspires me today.
I have to say though, had I listened to “Go For No” before, I might have been better equipped emotionally and then from a business perspective to deal with it!
There is much to be said in a very negative experience driving you forward if you will let it!
EXPECT Success!

well am planning on movin forward, really appreciate u man!!!!
stay blessed!
“No” doesn’t mean “no” to me anymore. It just means “not yet”, or “this isn’t the right time”. I’m just getting started and I am glad I got the DVD at this time instead of later. It really put a damper on my fear of rejection!
