Learning Skills and Becoming More

We had a great response to yesterday’s post where I asked if you were using excuses to validate your lack of success.   Because it’s easy for all of us to fall prey to that.  But that won’t take you where you want to go.

The fact is, if some people in your company are selling your products successfully, others can.  If some people are succeeding with your compensation plan, others can.  If other people are succeeding in a small town/big city, you can too.

We can validate our lack of progress and blame it on outside factors.  But that can only lead to victim-hood.  If you’re looking for the “lucky” person that succeeded in MLM because they didn’t face any challenges, you’ll be looking forever.

Those of us that have achieved the most success also overcame the most challenges.  But we didn’t use them for excuses; we used them as stepping-stones to learn new skills and develop stronger character.

Don’t look for less challenges.  Don’t look for things to get easier.  Look to get better and become more.

Are you up for it?

  1. I’m in Randy. To quote the great Jim Rohn “don’t wish it were easier, wish you were better.”

  2. Yes, I am “up for it!”

The mentors I respect the most in MLM ARE the ones who have encountered many challenges (and boosted themselves out of victim-hood)… they are more patient and give more realistic advice!

  3. Yes Randy I’m up to it.

The more challenging it seems to me, the easier it is to go forward. I now get excited to call prospects, get excited to generate more leads, and I know I’m getting better each day. And the more fun this business get, because now I know my prospects are expecting my call and it makes the rapport building easier.

The phone used to weigh a ton to me. I overcame that challenge with action repeated action. Got better and continue to learn and get better. That’s how I
teach my team is to continue to challenge themselves, learn and get better.

  4. Hi Randy, I’m up to it
I am new in MLM , for the first time in a great company. Every day is a challenge and for sure not easy.I love it and my mind is running faster, my actions are faster , I don’t care of rejections…..I ‘m doing it no matter how!

  5. It is so easy to allow yourself to get overwhelmed in this business. There is an enormus amount of competition not only from other companies in a market but from the distributors in your company. However, if you look at how many people are doing this business poorly, it only stands to reason that the people that take the time to make themselves the best will pass above all competition and enjoy financial and personal success. 6. I’ve found learning the skills needed online to let the world know you even have a product challenging, fortunately I got lucky there and found a lot of help and value!
There is a good mentor as well for the offline side of my opportunity in the health market… So things are looking up!

  7. “There are risks and costs to a program of action – but they are far less than the long-range risks and costs of comfortable inaction.” John F. Kennedy

I have been in relationship marketing for over 15 years yet I still have so much to learn. Everytime I get discouraged I shift my point of view by taking action.

  8. Yes I am up for getting better and developing a stronger character.

  9. So true…My biggest downfall in validating myself for not doing what is necessary is that i use negative words like Try, Perhaps, instead of I can , I will.. So negative words follow on to negative results…I MUST change that and I WILL…

  10. This reminds me of the story of the donkey that falls down the well. The farmer has no way to get him out so decides to fill up the well. As the dirt is shovelled into the well the donkey keeps stepping up and when the well has been filled the donkey is now at the top of the well. I guess if he just stood there being a victim he’d be one dead and buried donkey.

I have found that chalklenges are stepping stones to a better future.
    Thanks Randy

  11. Hey Randy Gage,

Look to get better and become more.Ther is a saying of a wize man,
    Here it is:”
you can easily see your next step.

You will want more, without needing more.

    What’s the difference?

People with a poverty mindset “need” things.

They need to pay their bills, they need to win the lottery,
they need to just “get by.”

But if you have a success mindset, you understand that it’s
okay to want things, while still appreciating what you have.

And that will automatically lead you to take action.

When you are in a state of “need” you are paralyzed.

You’re so busy worrying about what you don’t have that you
    end up stuck and desperate.

And you think, “If I can just make X amount of money, I’ll
    be happy.”

But guess what? As soon as you make X money, you’re not happy.

You’re looking for the next thing you “need.”

    So what’s the answer?

    Just be happy now!

There is always something to be grateful for, something to
    be happy about.

Focus on it, and you’ll attract more happiness into your life.

Focus on what’s missing, and you’ll just get more of the same.

It all depends on your mindset.

To quote “Dead Poets Society” again:

“Seize the day! Make your lives extraordinary.”

  12. The challenges keep you moving and more focused to reach your goals. The challenges make you more determine to accomplish your dreams. Obstacles be damned. 🙂

  13. Many years ago I was injured in a five car pileup and had to learn how to talk and walk again. Today my brain holds the imprint of that accident and the three that followed in a series of neural networks that mess with walking, breathing, etc.. The challenge is to carry on while in pain 24/7 and with a brain with holes in it. The holes mean I can lose up to 72 hours of memory which has been quite funny at times as I have gotten lost in several cities but always found my way home. I thought that I could succeed with an MLM company and have learned a great deal while being in them. Bravo to those who are succeeding while learning how to make challenges a learning opportunity.
