Getting the Money Thing Out of the Way

So we had some interesting comments on the last post about our own mortality and whether you have been giving things your best.  A lot of you took it as a wake up call.

One of the things we discussed was how what we do is so much more than just about making money.  But please don’t view that discussion as demeaning money.

Money is important because it is how we pay for things we need and desire.  It is the value-for-value exchange mechanism.  And money is a very important ingredient in helping you and others reach independence, provide for loved ones, and give back to others.

Poverty sucks.  Poverty causes people to lie, cheat, steal, and even kill.  There is nothing spiritual about poverty.

Money doesn’t buy happiness, but it can put a down payment on it.  It is the lubrication of life.  It allows you to receive proper medical care, send your kids to good schools, live in a safe neighborhood, get proper nutrition, contribute to society, live a life of dignity, and many, many other things.  Money is important.

So I believe one of the most important goals for your network marketing business is to “get the money thing out of the way.”  Once you do this, it frees you up to move from success – to significance.  Moving from trying to create your own success to helping your team members and contributing in larger ways to the greater good.

And what better way is there to get the money thing out of the way than network marketing!  For most people, it’s the best option they will ever have.  So if you haven’t created wealth yet, get to it!  And don’t feel guilty about it.  Celebrate it!

  1. But is it really the best option looking at real facts on the industry and how much money people really make, just looking at the average?

From what I hear, people sponsor a whopping 1-3 people on average in their entire career. And in general it seems companies haven’t even considered end customers in the first place. Few would buy at those prices, if they were even interested in the product at all. How about doing some marketing research for your products? I know they’re supposed to be special for enlightened people, so put them in a special store for enlightened people and see how they’re doing, at least just for testing it.

So, people in the business are hardly providing for themselves even. And are we really obliged to provide for others? Isn’t it so that we have a system built to provide in plenty for a select few, causing the majority to live a shelf life at best?

If the real facts were out, people would flee network marketing. There is in essence no difference between network marketing and any other business. Facts tell 9 out of 10 businesses fail. I don’t think network marketing is any different.

In fact I think most people lose money in network marketing, so what are you really promoting?

For most people the economy makes it impossible for them to even continue going to events etc. So, the truth seems to be their jobs were actually paying for their business and they were not making any extra cash at all.

Saying that network marketing is the best option for most people is simply not right looking at real facts on the industry. I would say it’s even insulting, as if people wouldn’t have any talents they could live on, at least under normal circumstances.

It sickens me to see people who would be amazing working with their true talents and do their own work trying to recruit people and sell products they wouldn’t even have bought themselves in the first place.

It’s not a leadership factory disguised as a business. It’s the other way around, even though, of course, you always learn something, regardless of what you do.

    1. Network Marketing is a Business that teaches you the original principles of success the way it was written in the bible. Many are called to success but few choose it with their actions. Network Marketing has the same fail to success ratio that every other business has. The problems, obstacles and emotional rollercoaster journey you go on is how champions are sorted from the rest.. Regardless of opinions your success or failure will become your victim story or your championship story, you choose.

    2. Anonymous writes what you don’t want to hear, what I don’t want to hear, but I’ve never read a more intelligent post regarding the facts of MLM. Usually the guy is ranting on about being ripped off, etc.

He or she is only pointing out the facts and I find myself having to agree.

The numbers are wrong. We could only hope that 10 out of 100 people succeed in MLM.

This isn’t meant to be negative but you’ve got to know the facts before jumping into any business venture, right? I was a Headhunter for 25 years and if I tried to recruit people into a company where only 1 in 10 people succeeded I would have died from lack of food years and years ago.

I still hold the dream of Network Marketing but there isn’t a thing in the post I can disagree with.

      1. I believe the “problem” is in the perception. With 25 years of headhunting experience – I’m assuming in corporate America – you’re perceiving Networking as any other business. It isn’t that. I know because I approached my first opportunites the same way and failed gloriously.

Only when I changed how I looked at the industry did I find the mentoring I needed and the company to join. It’s not about the company, the product or the comp plan. It’s about YOU and how you see yourself and how you can help, teach and mentor others. The selling and the money just fall into place then, almost by themselves.

Just get the money thing out of the way and trust it’ll come. (It will!)

      2. I can think of many things in no names’ comments to disagree with.
“From what I hear, people sponsor a whopping 1-3 people on average in their entire career” entire career of what? 3 months? exactly! of course, but what about those who work at network marketing for more than 2 years? the “facts” show most of those people are succeeding and making money.
“the truth seems to be their jobs were actually paying for their business” – Paying for their business? who said running any business was free of costs?
whether it’s a traditional business or network marketing.
Look it all boils down to what Randy has said before: ” Nework marketing is perfect for everyone, but not everyone is perfect for network marketing”
No names’ comments don’t show any intelligence about network marketing rather a disappointment with it based not on facts but a misunderstanding of it and possibly a failed experience with it. In any case network marketing is growing and more and more people are succeeding today more than ever before! If anyone has what it takes to do this business, it can yield them exactly what Randy said it can end of story. Good luck to all who have with it takes!

    3. The Anonymous article is pretty much on the mark, but I don’t understand why he fails to identify himself. It is more important to look at why these numbers are the way the are.

The Network Marketing model is a very viable business. I have practiced it full-time since 1984. The problem arises in the tactics that many MLM’ers use or are taught. They over embellish their particular opportunity and the ease at which the money will flow. This is done out of fear of hearing that one little word that everyone hates, No! Most mlm recruiters fail to explain the “work aspect” of the business. The other problem is everyone is told to work the “Warm Natural Market” and prey on those friendships. How about attracting other people who are already looking for an opportunity? Did you do your “due diligence” before you joined your current program. How many recruits does it take to hit x dollars in income? Can I make a living part or full-time just selling? What are the strengths and weaknesses of the compensation plan? Management team, product, etc…? I chose a company that has a higher ticket item so that I can make six figures within a 2-3 year time frame and most of that becomes residual just by my personal efforts. There is nothing wrong with the business model my friends. Do your homework, investigate, interview your upline, then GO TO WORK!

    4. Anonymous, why exactly are you in this forum?

In reading your comment I couldn’t help feeling sad for you. You use terms like “average”, “in general”, “hardly providing”, and your entirely ambiguous “9 out of 10 businesses fail”. Look at your focus, man. It’s mostly negative, and at best “average”. This is Network Marketing Times, not the “I can’t” blog.

Now, here’s the rub. Most of us come here because we believe AND KNOW that Network Marketing works, and it especially works for those who work the business. Now, I will agree with you that most people fail in business, but that’s not because of THE INDUSTRY in which they work. You know the 80/20 rule right? Well guess what? 80% of people are average, and that’s ok. God bless each and every one of them, BUT I am one of the 20% as I suspect that many of the readers of this blog are as well and “We can, and we will”. If you listen carefully you will hear the difference.

So here’s my positive suggestion. Listen more and comment less, but please participate when you have something POSITIVE to add if you really want to make a difference here.

      1. A great response to Anonymous. Most of us who come to network marketing come with an employee mentality – ie We’ve always worked for someone else and now we need to learn how to employ opurselves and go to work. Learn to become an entrepreneur.

In the beginning we often feel we are doing so much and receiving little monetary reward and when we keep going we reach a point where we receive so much for what we do.

This industry is the best University of Life study ever.
Love it with all its lows and highs.

    5. It’s because people don’t take care of their warm market 1st!
Then and only then you will start earning quickly to finance your activities to expand globally….From my studies on the Top Network Marketers of all times like Gage, Worre, Todd Smith, etc each of them say you must care of your home base before expanding to the rest of the world…that was my mistake….I wanted it all and to help one billion people at once and didn’t listen….now..I know why I’m not up to $100,000 per month yet…I didn’t follow the biz plan they have in place already and own my town yet…which I’m doing now after 2 years of wasting my time to go global before owning my warm market….It can’t be done….Go local 1st then you’ll have the funds to go wherever you desire…Hope this helps you! This is the most important thing in Network Marketing! If you do this you’ll succeed 100% of the time!
      Tony Beach

    6. It is the only opportunity that people are on equal footing and the money comes in based on how many lives they touch. When you say the economy this and the economy that, it is playing the blame game. It would be good to step up to the plate and take personal responsibility for the way life is treating you and go out and create what you deserve. I went to a Klemmer training this past weekend and it is all about recognizing the victim mentality and living with intention.

    7. I think someone doesnt understand what networkmarkiting is about, when you make referance to a regular business you lost it because you need mega cash to start any regular venture in networking it takes very little cash. as for loosing money I have never lost money but have made a good living, why some people dont win in our business is the same reason they are not winning in life they quit doing anything. If watching people try to improve thier life sickens you take a pill , or do some real research, not all companies are the same, it takes effort you can read all the books go to all the meetings but if you dont do what it takes it wont work. Of all the peple that have started in our company every one that followed our simple system has made money. To write a comment and then coward out by staying anonymous is a bit like hidding behind mommies skirt. If you can write it be big enough to defend it. If you start thinking it wont work it wont when those of the Networking proffesion live debt free and own thier own lives it hard to say ti doesnt work. In fact the numbers are very much slanted in vavour of Networking as opposed to a regular job, proffesion. or business.

    8. Some will, some won’t, so what !
There are those kind of people out there and they are the ones who will make comments like that and not sign their name.. I think they are afraid they may be convinced differntly some time and then have to eat their words.
      Naomi

    9. I’d like to make a point that most of you seem to have missed, when you get involved with a Network Marketing Company, (I don’t like to say join, it’s not a club it’s a busuinees), you purchase the products, the business is for free.

In my 10 years of being involved with the industry, giving seminars and trainings what I’ve seen is that people will go to college or university for 4 years or more and don’t earn 10% of what is possible with a NM company attend a one hour presentation and from that expect to become rich and successful, how they work that one out I’ll never know.

That fact is it’s a business, you have to learn about it, read about it, study it and do it, if you don’t and you quit, you only have your-self to blame, if it was the industry then everyone would fail, they don’t, if your not winning look at your actions because they dictate the results.

      Mike.

    10. To Anonymous,

I have been in NWM for 9 years now. Corporate would never have given me the opportunity to grow beyond ‘their’ limiting beliefs they put upon me. Because of NMW and Randy Gage, I chose to also become a Prosperity Coach.

You aren’t really angry at the industry, you’re angry at your self and projecting your ‘so-called financial failure in NWM’ on to everyone else.

Yes – I’ve been cheated by people in NWM — and I’ve also made $10,000 per month in NWM. It really is about growing people out of ‘lack consciousness’ .I’m conscious enough to know that those people who cheat are ‘too fearful and too small inside’ to reveal who they truly are –magnificent beings with limitless potential – to create successful lives – financially and spiritually fulfilling lives. They don’t trust themselves to be successful.

I chose to be ‘successful’ and that includes experiencing the ‘ups & downs’ of the industry. It is entirely due to NWM industry and Randy Gage that I continue to be successful — I also provide Prosperity Coaching services as well to help ‘awaken’ everyone out of ‘lack consciousness’.

We have been ‘domesticated’ by Corporate for far too long. Your resentment towards NWM — it’s your own projection — stop ‘blaming’ and start ‘learning’ so you can finally become that important fully-awakened individual that the world needs.

Give your self permission to grow into ‘greatness’ — the only person responsible for creating your life – is you.

When you release all your anger, fear, hate, and judgment — on the other side is peace, happiness, love and prosperity. This is one of the Universal of Polarity.

I highly recommend you get the cd pack by Michael Bernard Beckwith : “Your Soul’s Evolution, Practices for Catalyzing your Spiritual Awakening.

  2. Anonymous… I have some questions for you:
Have you ever been in a Network Marketing Business?
If yes, For how long? Did you do everything by the book?

I understand what you are saying, but I do not agree. My husband and I started our FIRT NM business about a year and a half ago, and the things you’re saying are far from truth. I agree that most people don’t make it, but it’s the same in any business… we’re looking for those people whose dreams and ambitions are larger than anything, those people keep on going, and trust me, I’ve seen it. There is no way you don’t make it if you keep going AND LEARNING. You can’t expect different results with the same actions.

I can tell you, when we first started, we sucked at it. But we were coachable, and read books and listened to tapes and we became better and better. You HAVE to learn to do what you are doing… Right now, I know there is still a lot to learn, but this business is soooo noble that still, with my flaws, I have a network of over 500 people and growing.

In every business you need to INVEST, and you won’t get anywhere without it. Here the investments are pretty low compared to any other business (including the events that you are mentioning) But I’ve seen people who are really broke do everything to improve that… and now are living a better life.

I see this business as the chance to give a TRUE OPPORTUNITY to those who otherwise won’t have it… perhaps because their studies… or even their current life with no time for anything else… Once you understand that, it’s magical. How many people have thanked you for what you do right now? I’ve had several thank you notes, emails and hugs… and TRUST ME, it’s PRICELESS. I am in fact changing people’s lives.

It’s too bad you are so negative about our profession, because for me it’s the best profession ever.

  3. Randy:
Over the years I’ve developed a respect for your books and marketing.
Today’s economic climate for big ticket sign on costs and demanding autoships support the Internet Companies needs, but these costs erode the benefits to the marketers.

    1. Interesting comments. What else is as good a s NWM for the average person?

The reasoning that most people fail is no reason Not To Try.

Most people fail at almost Everything.

      Looking forward to your comments.

  4. I love the theory of network marketing. It makes all of the sense in the world, UNTIL you look at the price of the products. I have yet to see a network marketing company whose products were not outrageously overpriced. That’s the reason I will never be a player.

    1. Ted not all products have a heavy front load. When was, the last time you looked at some of the opportunities?

    2. Ted In the UK my product is not overpriced it saves people money quite simple one stop shop for all utilities you should look for the right tool but the business is not about the product that is just the vehicle to get you were you want to be.
      Good Luck JR

    3. Find a different product or change your method. My first attempt at network marketing was a failure for price, convenience, and jokes. My second attempt was a product that nobody wanted and most had never heard of.
I had to find a product that was competitively priced and everybody had to have. Then I had to build a team that wanted to work themselves all the way to the top. The dummies that don’t get it never will, and I won’t waste my time with them. But once I found the product, I have not been able to stop the momentum.

    4. Ted,

Success in NW has nothing to do with the price of the products or indeed the products at all. I was with a product based company for over two years, did everything by the book and yet the business suffered from attrition and left me constantly battling to cover my running costs due to the LOW start up costs and LOW priced products – leaving me with NO profit on my business overheads.

In the end it all comes down to cashflow and unless your business model has the ability to generate cashflow, it will struggle to survive and become, like 95% of MLM businesses, nothing more than an expensive hobby.

    5. Join a company that has products that are in demand by real retail customers!

There are companies in the Network Marketing industry that actually can and do sell their products in retail stores – like Target and Wal-mart.

With over 1500 in our downline, I can tell you that this business does work, but only if you do.

  5. Well here speaks the voice of Authority from Anonymous!! Tried it didn’t like it or “You mean i need to Sell” attitude. Sorry but if you find the right product and follow a mentor then you will Succeed.

I have people in my organisation that live in a “nanny state” they want everything done for them and are not willing to help themselves.

But i also have some very successfull distributors that are changing their lives.

Does Network Marketing Work? YES if you let it!

Does Network Marketing suck? Yes if you let it?

The thing is it is all about choice. You choose which path to take you don’t need people deciding what works and does not it is totaly up to you.
    Happy Networking
    JR

  6. Well, that says to me…. the stats are I will have 10 solid partners out of every hundred who join me, 50 out of every 500, and 100 out of 1000.
If I can get ( and I will) 100 people working with me to succeed I will be an extremely happy & successful network marketer.
Verifies the concept in “Go For No”.
    Gotta love the “nos”

  7. For me money is a vehicle to live a life style of my choosing & to be able to do more good in the world. Negative feelings surrounding money can lead to lack of.

  8. I have to admit that I am one of those many who don’t make the megabucks at network marketing. Over the past 20 years I have joined five different MLM companies and hardly made anything with them at all.
In fact, I was losing money more often than not.
However, I honestly do believe that Network marketing is the one business model that truly empowers everyone. It really is a level playing field and we all have the same chance of succeeding or failing, regardless of race, gender, geography etc.
In the corporate workplace, your boss will view your excellence at your job as a threat to his spot on the ladder. In MLM, your sponsor wins when you win and so is usually more than willing to help you succeed.
In the past I have found every reason under the sun for failing at MLM – the product, the comp plan, the economy, etc.
Over the past year I have realized that it was ME, and only me, all along.
Now I’m learning to be a success, just like one learns to be a carpenter or teacher, and that has made all the difference.
When you focus on success and helping others succeed with you, the Money Thing becomes less of an issue.
I’m not making the megabucks yet – but I know now that it’s not only possible, but Probable.
Thank you, Randy, for being one of my wake-up calls.
    Bliss and blessings,
    Jacqui

  9. Very important..I’m definitely trying to get the money part of it out the way…I can’t stand going week to week worrying about missing sutoship or getting this bad tooth I have out that’s hurting me now….I’m ready and willing to do what it takes to change and that means taking a leadership role and stepping up to the plate and hitting home runs or at least singles, doubles or triples until I can hit the homes runs consistently 24/7…It’s on..Im getting the money part out of the way starting 7/1 at 2:03 pm…great wake up call.
    Thanks Randy Gage

  10. I certainly have my opinion. Network Marketing is the Freedom Store. It’s the way out for so many people who couldn’t have made it otherwise and for people who just want to get out of corporate America.

As a former general contractor, I can attest to the fact that money was lucrative but it came with a price, a huge price. Years ago, my objective of getting into Network Marketing was to alienate myself from the rat race of having to keep up with employees who for the most part didn’t care if I got paid or not. In fact many times after warranty issues, my employees sometimes made more than I did. Now I literally made millions, and I mean millions. However, everytime you get ahead, the economy crashes and takes it back away.

And the general liability insurance, the workman’s compensation insurance, the company vehicles, the health insurance, the clients that sucked you dry. I can assure you that Network Marketing has it’s moments as well. It has it’s questionable characters as well. But so does all other industries.

What makes Network Marketing appealing to me? It’s less headache than any other self-owned business, you have no employees to keep up, and you can do what you want, be wherever you want and enjoy whatever you want. Why? Because you can afford it. Nothing pays better than Network Marketing with so little invested and so little time spent getting it there.

So my comment to the anonymous writer is……”Give it another try”. You owe it to yourself. Especially in this economy. I wouldn’t want to do anything else.

I just got back from Japan. I’ve been in Utah looking at the beautiful mountains. I flew back home to Georgia this week. I’ll be in Budapest in a couple of weeks enjoying life. I go to Romania after that with some friends. What a LIFE! Take a leap into freedom. It’s a life, A LIFE. Not a prison.

Randy, I honor you for your fortitude. Keep doing what you’re doing. You’re needed out there my friend.

    Jef Welch

  11. Serving others before Self!!! Most people will fail in sales… If they don’t believe in the Product. Most people will fail in sales… If they don’t USE the Product. You have to be a consumer of your product so it permeates to everyone you meet. Being and entrepreneur means you think outside the box. We don’t use linear thinking. We are driven people who do not give up because something is difficult or is not working! Look at Edison… He failed at the light bulb 10,000 times, has numerous patents with a Minimal Education. Have a strategy and work your plan… If you have to change it up….. DO IT!!!!

  12. In response to Anonymous on 2009-07-01 11:28:09.
I have been involved with network marketing for 3 years, and although it hasn’t made me rich it has change my for the better. It has allowed me to take my family out of government housing and into private property. It has allowed me to give up my job which i hated, and it has enriched my life tremendously with the friends that i have made through network marketing. and before anyone says well thats because you are helping them make money, (BS) some of my best friends in this industry aren’t even in my line of sponsorship.

This business works for those who work it. If anyone uses the excuse that their sponsor isn’t supporting them properly then that person needs to go find their credible upline that will be able to support them.

Most people aren’t looking to make millions, most are looking for a way to give them a residual income so that they can have some sort of life style. And then there are others that are looking to make just enough to sack the boss. Hey, and why not. While the boss is playing golf the workers are working to keep him/her in that kind of lifestyle. Work for yourself and you own your life. Work for a boss and he/she own’s your life. Dont believe me? Go ask your boss if you can have the next two months off with pay.

To everyone in the Network Marketing industry. Keep your reason why in front you always. Switch off the TV and go build a future for yourself.
    Go for Greatness Everyone.

  13. There is one company that I know of that has an excellent product that works out less expensive then what you would find at the store. Its a great concept that everyone would benefit from. It does exist.

    Regards

    JL

  14. I know this writer is going to get slammed- especially here- but I thought I’d pipe up and say that s/he’s not all wrong.

In fact, s/he probably makes more sense than most of us.

But then again, doing ANY business makes less sense than getting a job if you are looking at it in a certain “practical” way. I mean, anyone opening a restaurant has a greater chance of failure than someone opening an MLM business.

That being said, MLM is predicated on the “anyone can do it” idea, and yet it doesn’t seem to be true.

Yendi- out of your 500, how many are profitable after events, and “tools” and such?

Anonymous speaks truthfully when he says that a great deal of people subsidize their MLM business with their jobs, and that is NOT what is supposed to happen.

So, is Anonymous right? In some ways.

It is my belief that MLM will be going through some EXTREMELY big changes in the next few years, and it won’t resemble ANYTHING like what it is now. I see the companies taking more responsibility, and it being more like “customer rewards programs” than the current “business” that it is now.

WHy on EARTH would you want 90% of your customers leaving your product? Right now, mlm companies accept that. I don’t see that being acceptable in the VERY near future.

  15. Check out Tom Sales Professional Inviter for a great definItion on why many fail. It’s due to lack of training.

Also listen to Dani Johnson’s Live in North Carolina CDs specifically the CD about the Treasure Chest & learn why some make it & some don’t. I have personally followed these teachings & many by Randy & leaders in our company & as a result I have made nearly a million dollars part time while still working a very demanding 6 figure corporate job.

Anyone that makes the decision & does the due diligence that Randy talks about in the new 4th edition of his book will succeed.

  16. So this person still wants to believe that money is the root of all evil and network mkting is another road to failure. So what is his answer to getting the money issue out of the way? We need to look for solutions and stop the complaining. We are given opportunities througout life, sometimes we ignore them not realizing what we have lost. I am taking the MLM opportunity because I’ve tried many other options and none have worked. Guess what? I am succeeding, and I am not the only one! Randy, You showed me that it’s up to me to make my life happen, not anyone else. I need financial freedom, not financial disaster. There is a tale; Flood waters were distroying a community.
and a farmer was on the roof of his house, the river was rising threatning to take the house down river. Some neighbors on trucks came to his rescue but he would not go. I’ll wait for a sign from God, he said, Next fire dept came. No,
I’ll wait for a sign, Now his house starts to float down stream, People in a boat try to help, Again no! I’ll wait for a sign from God, Now he dies. In Heaven he asked God why he never sent help, God answered, I sent you help 3 times!
    Think about it

  17. yo…

i’ve been in network marketing for 37 years… didn’t make a dime during the first 18 years before i discovered two very simple truths…

    (1) YOU’VE GOT TO HAVE A PRODUCT THAT YOU GENUINELY BELIEVE SERVES OTHERS, and (2) IT HELPS IF YOUR PRODUCT IS A MONTHLY CONSUMABLE THAT OFFERS VISIBLE HEALTH BENEFITS…

once i connected with the “right” product i became believable and started making money… serious money… since then i’ve earned more than a million dollars in networking… and i’ve coached many, many folks to financial independence…

  18. MLM is defintely the best business available to most of the people. All other businesses is out of reach. Most people are lazy and stupid – and want to do as little as they can get away with in an ordinary job also.

Go for the top – you CAN!

  19. Yendi – Great comments.

True, there are poor opportunities in the industry with products that don’t stand on their own. I work in the investment business and the same is true in that business, or any business for that matter. Each of us are responsible for doing our homework and choosing the right opportunity for ourselves. I love the company I’m with, I stand by the product, and couldn’t be happier.

True, most don’t people aren’t successful. Most will quit when they don’t achieve immediate results (lottery ticket mentality). Yes, this can be because the person who got them into the business over hyped the ‘quick money’ potential. But mostly, people lack the emotional resiliency to handle rejection, and they lack the self motivation to build a business. This isn’t to be condescending to anyone, it’s just fact. This is why most people are happy being employees. Besides, as mentioned, most business don’t survive the first couple of years with losses much greater than the typical MLM failure would cost.

I applaud you (anonymous) for highlighting some pitfalls in the industry for others to consider.

However, I do caution you against discouraging others from exploring what may be best for them. Especially when you consider the changing landscape of business and the economic uncertainties that lie ahead.

As an Investor Coach, I see too many families under saving for retirement. I counsel business owners who are great people but know they have to lay employees off when the going gets tough. Pensions are no longer being offered in the public sector and the private sector can only print money for so long. In addition, social security and medicare are grossly underfunded and too many people naively expect them to be a part of their retirement plan (Gen X & Y should reconsider). What is your solution for all of this?

The network marketing business offers an opportunity at a cost you simply can’t find elsewhere. It is a ton of fun, provides development training like you wouldn’t believe, and gives me a shot to be as successful as I apply myself to be. It is not a lottery ticket and it does take work. Most people simply prefer what comes easiest. I wish you great success.

  20. You will not find a better opportunity to own your life than in network marketing. Yes, the stats are in favor of failure but that is due to a large part – in my opinion – to one element: People who get into our industry have no clue what they are in for. They think it is going to be easy – and it isn’t. This is a business not a magic pill to success. Do you think Bill Gates had it easy when starting up his software company? How about Walt Disney? How about the rock stars of network marketing like Randy? I know people that have become a success in our industry but it took their sponsor 20, 30 or more phone calls to convince them to try it. AND THEY WORK THEIR A** OFF TO BECOME SUCCESSFUL! Whether it is a thriving economy or the slow one we are currently in, you need to be persistent, treat this like a business and never, never give up!

  21. Remember, what you focus on manifests itself in your world. If you focus on the negative, you will get negative. There are two types of people in the world – Negative people and Positive people. Which one do you choose to be?
If you tell me that Network Marketing is a valid path to financial freedom, however, 9 out of 10 people fail at it. I would say, hmmm, so you are telling me that I have a 10% chance to not have to worry about money anymore? And all I have to do is invest between $300 and $500 and and 2 to 4 hours a week? I am in!

In my 5 years of Network Marketing, I have found that there are four key areas that determine someone’s success or failure with Network Marketing.

    1) Belief in the Company’s Products
    2) Belief in the Company
    3) Belief in Network Marketing
    4) Belief in Yourself

Get in touch with me if you would like my FREE report on this.

  22. Hello Everyone.

It seems to me Anonymus did not get the point in Network Marketing, which is sad. Network Marketing is a profession which offers the POTENTIAL for everyone to build an independent income and establish a desired lifestyle of their choice, including the persuit of one’s true talents and dreams simply for the pleasure of it ( and not as a source of income). It is achieved through a cycle of learning skills and teaching the same skills to others. When it is done right, it is done with integrity and dignity. We must however take the time and make the effort to learn it well…no champions ever became champions overnight.

    So, should we flee?

Well, if you don’t desire your dreams enough to give’em a few tries, then flee.
    I’m not fleeing 🙂

  23. I get it. Sometimes I think alot of people don’t get it. The products I sell are the products I love and use. It’s about my passion. Money is great…..selling something you believe in is incredible. It’s a win win for me.

  24. Your Dreams have to be bigger than your failures. If you don’t dream big you will never win at anything.

Hence why 9 out of 10 people never succeed in their own business.

Their dreams are not big enough.

I’ve seen people come and go in this industry. They start out of the gate with excitement and drive, then that drive and excitement dwindles when they realize that they actually have do do some work. They figure out that it’s not as easy as they thought and they give up.
Like the saying, “they give up 200 feet before the finish line.”

Sometimes I think about feeling sorry for those that came into my business and dropped out for what ever reason, but then if I do that then it will slow me down from finding the ambitious people, the 1 out of 10, like myself, who want to succeed at all costs.

Everyone truly has the opportunity to make it in this industry. Like everyone has the same opportunity to be the next Bill Gates, Warren Buffet or Randy Gage for that matter. You just have to be willing to never quit. AND HAVE FUN

  25. I have been trying to make a profit in networks marketing since 1980. I’ve joined a lot of companies, but never made a profit. We spent a lot on marketing materials and products, and some of the products were excellent, but we never really made a dime.
With some of the companies we worked hard and did what they said to do. With other companies, we were too discouraged to do much of anything.
I’m sorry to be negative, but it seems like to me that the only people in network marketing who make any money are the 10 to 15 distributors who launched the whole thing.
The downlines get the benefit of some great products at a wholesale price, but that’s about it.
Sorry. That’s my view. Maybe I’m way off base. I don’t know. That’s just been my experience.
It seems like a company starts up, then they recruit a few “heavy hitters” who bring in their existing downlines. That excites prospects and makes it sound like everyone in the world is getting in. Then it dies down and goes away.
    Sincerely,
Glen Averill, a discouraged networking wannabe.

    1. Hey Glen, I don’t think your input is negative, its cool. You are in the right place at the right time. Right now you have more successful mentors than you can shake a stick at.

Without knowing you personally, just from what I read on your post, your situation is not all that uncommon, the cool part is you keep trying.

If you don’t mind I will just share my 2 cents with you ok? I will keep it brief since after all this is Randy’s blog and I don’t want to be disrespectful to him. :o)

Normally I would just refer you to Randy’s Tools, but in your case this is a LONG TERM situation and you simply need a slight shift in the way you do things. If you read still yet another book, you will only see what you have been seeing in the other books you’ve read. Kinda like wearing rose colored glasses, everything seems to be tainted in rose color, and you notice all the things that stand out more prominently from the reds and rose colors and the blues and greens have been subdued so much so that you are beginning to not even notice them.

Glen, you are off course slightly, however due to the length of time you have been off course, by now you are probably way off target from your original destination.

From what I read in your post:

You have been working your networking business with your wife, and as much as she loves you and you love her, one more company and another list of failures in network marketing could be the straw that breaks the camel’s back? Its hard to look your wife in the eye and tell her with conviction, this time it will work.

I assume this because you open with, I have been trying to… I’ve joined a lot of companies… We spent… we never really made… we worked hard ….we were too discouraged … I’m sorry to be negative…

I assume you are the one brining the opportunities home, your wife jumps on board with you, and you work together, and it ends up flat. You take responsibility, not shifting the blame that is a very good thing incase you don’t already know that. I shows you are open to coaching and take responsibility for your actions.

My guess is, you are a hard and dedicated worker, if given a project to complete you will complete it and do it well, and take pride in your work.

You can work with limited supervision, at times you like to work alone, but almost always prefer to work in a small group setting, but don’t need to be babysat.

You like to think outside the box, but prefer to think in terms of tangible and tried and true, strategies and techniques. You prefer not to make it up as you go along.

You are the type that prefers to read, and likes to utilize your company’s brochures and literature.

You get frustrated when you don’t meet with incremental successes for you efforts and you see others succeeding with seemingly less effort then you are applying.

I am not simply stating undeniably truthful statements; these are clues from your post.

Glen firstly: please think about this. There is a fly on the windowsill, he is desperately trying to get out and keeps banging into the glass. What is the problem with the fly and his approach?

      1. No matter how hard he tries he will never get through the glass. What he thinks is the best way for success and actually the surest way to fail.

Sure the fly is working hard, and not giving up when met with seemingly insurmountable odds; but he is not quitting.

To all his fly friends he appears to be a hard worker, and dedicated, and willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his dreams. But you and I both know that fly will not make it unless he changes his approach.

      2. The fly is convinced his approach is the best approach. He is not paying attention to the other flies in the room, he is not following a success path, nor is he open to a new idea. The fly seems to be convinced his way is the best way for him and just might die trying to prove his point

      3. The fly seems to think more of the same will get him closer to his goal. The more he tries and the harder he tries, that seems be his plan, right?

Even if you go over and attempt to help the fly out the window by opening it a few inches the fly will still more times that not go back to the glass and avoid the opening. (don’t ask how I know this… :o)

Glen, you have been at it for 29 years, trying to succeed and to turn a profit in MLM since 1980 but some how the success keeps eluding you.

It would be a good idea, if you are still in an MLM now, to start looking at your business a brand new way, and stop doing the busy work of network marketing and start doing the work that produces tangible quantifiable results, results that you can take to the bank.

I am concerned that you are coachable to a degree, you are very willing to be coached by the right person but you have not found the right person to coach you as of yet? That’s ok, you don’t need a coach just yet, what you need is a fresh perspective.

So lets get you that fresh perspective.

What I would recommend to you is that you play along with a little exercise. Imagine you are sitting in your room, and the you from the future comes to visit you. If you need a movie reference for this, Disney’s The Kid with Bruce Willis would be a perfect movie for you to watch.

Ok the you from the future comes to visit you, only with a twist, the you from the future is a monumental success in network marketing, you have a huge downline, and a great organization and you are very successful. Kinda like the man in Fogg’s book, The Greatest Networker in the World.

The future you will share with the you from the present how to become successful, step by step, each and every step over the course of many meetings.

I recommend you do this for at least 10 minutes or more every single morning from now on.

Your meetings at first may be short and quiet, however as you allow your mind to work with the idea you will begin to find that your meetings will become more and more profitable and more and more insightful, never more than 15 to 20 minutes.

There are a few things you need to do to make this work.

      1. Let go of all the things you think you know about success in this business.

      2. When the future you advises you to take action in your business you do it without hesitation. Make a way or find a way, without hesitation.

      3. The future you will at some point in your meetings share your system for success with you, take notes, and follow that system without deviation, no refinements, no changes, no improvements, just do it.

      4. You will begin to notice the future you, acts, walks, talks and dresses differently than you do now, emulate his style, mannerisms, and actions.

      5. Above all else DO NOT DEVIATE FROM THIS PLAN once you start.

The future you will recommend books, CD’s DVD, courses, and mentors and coaches, in time follow that advice, above all else continue to meet with the future you on a daily basis.

If you don’t believe this will work, then don’t even start the process. It is a stretch for most people to start this process, and I am assuming it will be a stretch for you as well, but don’t let that stop you. You must believe this will work, without a doubt.

This is very similar to Napoleon Hill’s Master Mind Alliance, so trust me, it is not some new fangled never before tried or testing freakish theory. It will work, especially in your situation. (and it is a condensed version of my Time Distorted Coaching Theory ™)

I know you are probably wondering why I am not telling you to go do this or that, or some other thing. Quite simply, because you already know what to do, you are just fighting it, and hearing it or reading it from still yet one more person isn’t going to help you. The one person in your life that has never let you down is you, you need to trust you a little more and take your own advice. When the time is right you will have more mentors, till then you are your own mentor and coach.

      Now for the BIG STEPS!

You need to re-create yourself. (I highly recommend you start with your belief yourself.) “Remake yourself into a character of power. Working on yourself like clay should be one of your greatest and most pleasurable life tasks. It makes you in essence and artist – an artist creating yourself.” Richard Greene

A picture I use to motivate me regarding this process is a picture of a famous Sculpture called the Self-Made Man by Bobbie Carlyle. (www.bobbiecarlylesculpture.com or call her in Colorado at (970) 622-0213.)

Next, stand straight, stop slouching, if you are slightly over weight consult your doctor and start a workout program, even if it’s just walking daily.

Stop negative thoughts in their tracks. You find a negative thought creeping into your mind, stop it immediately and replace it with a positive one. Need help with positive thoughts. Randy’s Twitter has his daily affirmations on it, you can also go to http://www.greatday.com and you will find more than you know what to do with.

This is one of the most important, so pay close attention. Start hanging around a new group of people. Find some new hobbies and go to the meetings, go to your local Y and check out some things there, find a local Rich Dad Group, get out and meet NEW people.

You, like everyone else, pride yourself on your uniqueness, the future you and I are about to tell you right now, that is NOT your key to success. Learn to mix well with others.

You do NOT need to read still yet another book right now, what you need is action, new action and LOTS of it. Most importantly the RIGHT action.

Follow these steps for the next two weeks, with an open mind and you will see some cool things taking place.

This is Randy Gage’s blog, and he has more than enough resources for you to utilize when the time is right, for now stay plugged into Randy and his site and follow these steps. I assure you, you will be back on the right course in no time, if you stick to it, 30, 60, 90, days from now, you will be amazed.

Think of this advice as Oprah’s Gratitude Journal example on steroids, the results people normally see in 6 to 9 months you will begin to see in as little as 30 days. If you don’t follow the steps, do not complain to me, or anyone else about it, you will clearly have no one to blame but yourself. OK?

You will soon see that you too can be one of those heavy hitters you have been hearing and reading so much about.

If you are not in an MLM Company right now hold off on signing up for now, when you are ready Follow Randy’s example and his resources, or take a closer look at the resources Tim Berry & Julie Mirr have to offer, I am sure you will be making money in no time. Both have great resources anyone can use to build an organization using the internet, thus taking you completely out of the equation.

      that’s my two cents worth…

      have a happy 4th weekend

  26. There are no guarantees in life. Simply joining a Network Marketing company is not a guarantee or a right to a paycheck. In this business, we are paid on PRODUCTION. So many people come into Network Marketing who are used to receiving an hours pay for an hours work. That isn’t how Network Marketing works. To get a check, you must produce. This is done by selling services and by recruiting and building your own sales team.

My company has a compensation planned that is designed so that anyone, and i do mean anyone, could earn an extra $500-$1000 per month.

Here are the two main reasons i think people fail: #1 Lack of focus and consistent effort in their business and #2 Lack of Skills. Both of these reasons are correctable.

I am committed to helping ANYONE that wants my help. But if someone doesn’t take consistent steps to build their business, and to develop themselves in all areas, then they shouldn’t expect to be successful. Success is hard work…and with God’s help, i am up for the challenge!

  27. The Network Marketing is a BILLION Dollar Industry WORLDWIDE!! Yet the “experts online” (who shall remain anonymous) know more than the RECOGNIZED, INDUSTRY EXPERTS such as Randy Gage, Dani Johnson, Ellie Drake, Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki etc., all of whom have PROVEN TRACK RECORDS OF SUCCESS for helping people reach their own goals! But why listen to them!! What do they know??? It’s amazing and will probably NEVER go away…!!

Y’know I see people “trying to make money” all the time at the casino I work at and they NEVER seem to be without money nor have any type of restraint when it comes to putting down SEVERAL HUNDRED TO THOUSANDS to bet and they aren’t crying about the economy then!! Yet when it comes to TRULY investing in themselves with a legitimate network marketing business for anywhere between $250 – $1000 they somehow “don’t have the money” and will use any excuse to justify why they can’t start a business and will scour the Internet to find excuses as well…!

Network marketing involves WORK and GROWTH and one cannot FEAR SUCCESS and one cannot go into it as a “GET-RICH-QUICK” scheme. As soon as most people HEAR or SMELL WORK they are GONE..!

Speaking of gambling, how about this “investment” $38.6 million and winning only $1 million over a 6 year period! Yep, TRUE STORY..! Now how many people would have even hung around and did their network marketing business consistently for 6 years to get that same $1MILLION…? THAT’s where the failure on THEIR part comes in because THEY gave up NOT their upline nor downline……..!

    “The Big Bad Wolf: “I’ll huff . . . and I’ll puff . . . and I’ll blow your house down!
In the fairy tale, the first two pigs learned their lesson and soon built their own houses of brick, and they all lived happily ever after. But as you know, the Three Little Pigs is just a fairy tale. In real life, people ask the government to rescue them with taxpayer money, and then they rebuild their straw and stick houses all over again. The fairy tale continues, lessons are not learned—and the wolf lurks in the darkness. All over the world, people are asking, “What are our leaders going to do?” I believe a more important question is, “What are you and I going to do?” More specifically, “How can you and I build our own house of bricks?” – From Robert Kiyosaki’s NEW book – Conspiracy Of The Rich, The 8 New Rules Of Money

Yeah, I know what does someone like Robert Kiyosaki know….? Thank goodness for the “online experts”…to help us muddle through with life…!

  28. If you’re one of the 9 people that failed in NWM, you must have QUIT. If you keep on working on yourself through trainings, self development and activities you will get better at it. I’m not sure of too many jobs or careers someone can commitment to and not go to school (college, tech school) or receive training. Especially one that can give you both time and financial freedom.

Unless you are one of the few people in this world that will inherit their family’s wealth (that was earned by someone else), you must commit to something in this life and work hard at it.

Unless you are one of the few people in this world that will inherit their family’s wealth (that was earned by someone else), you must commit to something in this life and work hard at it.

I know of a few people that love to commute to work and clock in and sit in their 6×6 jail cell (I mean cubical) for 8 to 10 hours a day. It is those people I feel for. I would rather find a company that I can pour my heart into and have the belief that they will continue to succeed with or without me. It is that company I want to be a part of (I’m one of the lucky ones that found that company). As I continue to grow as a person so will my income.

My last words on this topic: If you find a company that you hope is the right one for you put your heart into it. Work hard everyday and never, ever quit. At some point you will come across the one person that someone else is a friend of and your team will take off.

  29. Ted
As I accessed your web page I realise that by giving this opinion about NM products price you are just repeating one of your (old?)behaviour’s:
    You stated that:
“…Every week he asked me to go and every week I came up with an excuse. I was getting pretty creative at coming up with excuses…”.

In fact, saying that NM products are “outrageously overpriced” it just an escuse you made to proof to yourseld that you are right about not being able to deliver the job you need to have success.

NM products are state od the art. You would be able to buy these products from a store, if they would have to go through the normal channels, because the price would be too high.

And if you look at some of the products and compare it to what you have available in the conventional business, it is really not expensive. For example: Take
    AGEL an example.

You have one of the products called Exo, which has more than 200 anti-oxidants in a gel.

If you compare to other gel packs available in a sports store, which most of them only have cafein and sugar, eventually carbohidrates, you will see that AGEL gels are less expensive (in Portugal an AGEL pack costs 2.2 Euros against 3 Euros on non-AGEL products)

And notice that these non-AGEL products are based on artificial gels, whereas AGEL gel is extracted from plants, and have no sugar.

But there is more: NM not only provides state of the art products, it also provides a Multi Layer business the common people can embrace to get financial freedom.

If you look at the model of Network Marketing, you will see that the industry is the most just one around: you get a business where you are rewarded by promoting a product you believe in. And you are even better rewarded if you help other people do the same business.

Now, let me give you my opinion on what randy said:

Putting the money away is the logical step you give, once you get the industry! If you really get it, you will see that this industry is not an evolutionary one: is a REVOLUTIONARY one!

You are giving ordinary people the chance to get out of slavery wich is represented by the corporate business.

You see a way to get out of your job, where most of the times it’s not performance that is rewarded, and I am sure you know what I mean…

You give people with litlle education and finantial problems a way to get hope again, on fulfilling their dreams.

You look at people in a more passionate way. You are able to deliver what everyone is looking for: FREEDOM!

From that moment on, my friend, money get’s out of the way, you get relaxed and success starts to show 🙂

    Ted:
Don’t get me wrong: you have the potential to become free as well. Just give it a try :).

    RANDY:
Please use disqus on your blog so people who coment here can have their coments added to their disqus account.
    Give it a look 😉

    Love you all
    Alfredo Rodrigues

    1. I have never heard of disqus, but will check into it. And everyone, p[lease let’s keep the comments generic so we all can benefit from the discussion and leave individual companies out of it.

      Thanks, RG

  30. RG as always you have a point.

Poverty sucks. Poverty causes people to lie, cheat, steal, and even kill is true. However the same goes for people with money, and Agel and MLM is unfortunately not without this people.

The once there do not succeeds are the one there quit

    Lars

  31. As is the case with anything, there are always differing opinions.

    I will simply say…..

One can Achieve anything One has decided to Achieve.

    Network Marketing works.

It takes the right training, application of that training, until what you truly desire is accomplished.

Being an employee is not the path to true FREEDOM.

Never has been Never will be.

It just happens to be a perceived easier road to walk on…

    Be Blessed All,

    Robert Buchholz

  32. I believe most folks would realize that, especially in this day, network marketing is indeed a viable way to make a living. A few grow prosperous! Like Randy once said, network marketing is for everyone – but not everyone is for network marketing.

Just like in the job market, there are good bosses and good companies. AND there are bad bosses and bad companies. Do your homework, choose what you want your vocation to be, and yes, GO TO WORK!

Great article Randy – as usual!

  33. Randy’s right-don’t be afraid of success or the money that comes with it. Isn’t that WHY you started a business to begin with-for the MONEY? You never expected to invest in a business and simply give away product did you? Even with charitable fundraisers there’s a profit for the salesperson isn’t it? Money is NOT the “root of all evil” but the LOVE of it is! The obsession with it is! Money in itself and what it can buy is awesome! Cash obtained through honest business practices like network marketing keeps you out of the slums and keeps you from selling drugs or your body to make a living doesn’t it? You bet it does! So what do you do if your business is not working? Look at others in your company-are THEY making money? If yes-stay and get better training to succeed. Your Sponsor or Upline won’t help you? Get generic training from someone like Randy then. If Reps are leaving in droves, or selling their inventory on Ebay then yes, I would leave and find something else. $$$!

  34. I’ve been marketing products, services, and live events for 23+ years – and I’ve heard that “everything” is a disappointment.

People complain in all different venues that network marketing, internet marketing, home business, direct sales, franchises, distributorships, information marketing, real estate investing, stock investing, and on and on – “just don’t work”.

But, in every one of these fields, you find successful, wealthy, happy people – making money (sometimes millions)… along with the complainers.

Because of this, my belief has become that it’s not the industry, it’s the person who makes the difference.

One person joins a networking company and makes millions. Another person joins the same company – and makes nothing.

Same company. Same products. Same comp plan.

The only difference is the drive, desire, and beliefs of the people getting involved.

I’ve heard negative comments exactly like anonymous’ for years – and we’ll continue to hear these “Debbie Downers” for many more to come.

Personally, I love the network marketing company so much, I bought the company. ;0)

Actually, I started my own. It took 12 months and $300K (and counting), but I’ve found, like many company President’s before me, that it’s truly a vehicle for helping others succeed – if THEY truly want to succeed.

If they don’t, they’ll waste their time posting anonymous negative comments on the blogs of successful people. ;0)

Keep up the great work, Randy!

    Best,
    Jeff Gardner

  35. Well, there seems to be many participants who want to set the record straight after anonymous started this off.
I , too, found his/her comments to be intelligent albeit negative in tone. The likely fact remains that if the purchase price for distribution rights were $50K there would be a higher % of success, no matter the company, product, etc.
There is a good chance Subway owners aren’t even responding to blogs…

  36. It is obvious that anonymous is one of those individuals who thought that he could lay on the couch and watch Opra and have checks sent to him just because he is the best thing since sliced bread.

Like any business if it is to succeed you have to work at it but unlike working for wages, MLM’ers work for profit!

I doubt he has ever had the focus to do anything but lay on the couch and complain that his beer is not cold enough!

I left the corporate world to get away from people like him who can drag a company down faster than the sinking of the Titanic. Building a MLM business make take years but the end result is that you no longer have to have a boss you don’t like or a job that will get you no-where.

Leave the business, are you kidding!

  37. “Poverty sucks. Poverty causes people to lie, cheat, steal, and even kill. There is nothing spiritual about poverty”

This was taken directly from the article, and I’m sure that most, if not all of us will agree with that statement. For as long as I’ve been involved with this industry (going on 14 years), most of my prospects and recruits have joined me in an attempt to escape some form of poverty. Of those, approximately 80% quickly realized that they weren’t willing to “Really” DO ANYTHING to achieve that objective. Be it missing a Sunday football game, reading a book or simply picking up the telephone and calling a perspective business partner.

Is that something that can be blamed on the MLM undustry or perhaps those individuals had developed a “comfort zone” around themselves that overshadowed the realities of the dire situation they may find themselves in?

I’ll never know the answer to that question, however, I do know that the ones (and YES, they were about 20%) who got past those self-imposed hurdles, DID make great strides in their businesses and in their lives through sheer, unwavering perseverance.

    Here’s the question:

Why are we discussing/debating whether we should “walk away” from our business on a blog? By now we should all know what it is we are attempting to do for ourselves and our families, and no blog post should be able to sway us one way or another.

I walk away only from negativity. It’s the only way I build my business.

  38. Randy,

The same people that criticize MLM are the same people that complain in the corporate world.

When I designed software, I earned close to $100K and worked my A** off and was well rewarded with the high salary. One day, one of my co-workers stormed into my cube and yelled at me because I was taking on way more projects than he and the rest of the department and I was “making them look bad.”

“Anonymous” sounds just like this guy. Both of them are afraid of “W-O-R-K.”
    “It’s too hard.”
“You have to work too much.”

When I started my network marketing business it was in the middle of a divorce while my $100K job was being outsourced overseas, while moving out of my former beautiful home with my two little kids.

I worked my A** off on my NM business and used it to payoff my car note, repair my car A/C so my little kids and I could ride around in comfort and pay for many other expenses when I could not get a job because $100K software design jobs are scarce, QUALITY daycare for 2 kids is $1,400 a month and child support is minimal.

The headhunter above failed to see that you can be very talented but you become an expensive target in the middle of outsourcing, lay offs, downsizing, etc..

Talent without employment opportunities does NOT pay the bills or put food on the table. I have headhunter friends too and they would tell me how many hundreds of good quality resumes were competing for a single job posting on Monster.

But I guess all of those TALENTED UNEMPLOYED people were eating well, right?!

My NM business has given me what I have asked of it in return for the effort I put into it.

As far as product pricing, I tried an interesting little experiment. I lowered the prices of my products and offered them to my customer base for much, much lower prices (below my cost) than offered in our product catalogs. I thought I would sell out of my inventory but very, very few people purchased the items at the low price.

You’re going to find that some people will shop only at the dollar stores and complain about even that price.

As far as the price of premium NM wellness products, if you have any contact with anyone who has suffered from high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, etc ask them how much those diseases cost on a monthly basis. The price of a premium wellness product on a monthly basis is still wayyyyy less than bad health.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK RANDY!

You should put a requirement on the blog reply button that if someone is going to serve whine, they should be required to serve cheese and crackers with it.

  39. IMAO – MLM mirrors life… you get out of it exactly what you put into it. I wish everyone here a happy life.
God bless and have a safe 4th.

  40. It’s not whether or not network marketing works…it does. The real question is how to get a new person to work…to achieve their dreams. So many new people want the freedom…the money…and the toys but most will not even take the first step to success. There are no free lunches…success comes at a price and most just aren’t willing to get of their dead asses. They would rather waste their time in front of the TV or play sports or drink beer rather than invest in their families future.

Failure is extremely easy in everything in life; not just network marketing. Success is a journey not a destination and there will be setbacks and disappointments along the way. The weak quit and whine but the strong prevail.

Everyone needs to remember…when you buy someones advise…you buy their lifestyle.

  41. Randy, did you really write me an email asking me for my comment and feed back? hehehe

TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND BREAK OUT THE READING GLASSES…

What HOT a topic, I don’t know which I should comment on, your article or anonymous? LOL….

Ok first things first, your article.

Getting the money thing out of the way, great idea, great concept, great ideology. BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT…

As you very well know most people primarily focus on the MONEY, because money is what they think they need. You hear it all the time about how success is a journey and a journey of a thousand steps begins with the first step. Bla, blab, bla…

Now matter how true those statements are, who cares when the baby needs diapers, and formula, the clunker of a car needs new tires and brakes, and the rent is two months late, the power is about to be disconnected, the bank is sending letters demanding you bring your over drawn account to a positive balance, and … well you get the picture. To most people not just in America that is their reality! (and I DO mean MOST people!)

I agree, the best way to get the money thing out of the way is by earning more money! as you also eluded to with your closing statement: “And what better way is there to get the money thing out of the way than network marketing! For most people, it’s the best option they will ever have. So if you haven’t created wealth yet, get to it! And don’t feel guilty about it. Celebrate it!”

To simply write about getting the money thing out of the way without further explaining how to get the money thing out of the way is not hitting the mark for me. But hey, that’s just my opinion right? LOL…..

About Mr. Anonymous! (will use the name A. Randy to put a name to Mr. Anonymous to give him personality and identity)

Firstly starting off with “real facts” without stating the facts or providing documentation of those facts negates whatever facts A. Randy wishes to bring up. All A. Randy is stating are potentially the facts in his life.

Ok without getting into all the particulars of the comment, the basic underlying theme of the message is that most people DO NOT make money in network marketing; most people that are in network marketing just make it possible for the select few to become wealthy and live a great lifestyle.

I think that sums it up nicely, right?

If MOST PEOPLE don’t make enough money in network marketing I am pretty sure the industry would NOT be around today, and damn sure would NOT be as popular as it is today. Everyone would have heard about how bad it is and would have moved on by now and the industry would have dried up and died long ago.

The reality of the matter is there are many people that turn to network marketing and make their dreams come true when no other option would have provided for that! The average person might WISH for $100,000.00 a month income, but are really happy with a couple thousand or so.

As with every other glumly Gus, A. Randy wants to point out how bad the economy is and how hard it is to afford to go to events, and afford auto ship and bla, bla, bla…. Without taking into consideration during the last great depression of the US how many multi millionaires were created during that same period of time. The industrial revolution created massive wealth on a global scale for people that were willing to do what it took to succeed.

Every person regardless of age, race, and COUNTRY has that same opportunity today via the internet revolution, the Network Marketing Business Model and the Working from Home Trend, either independant of each other or by combining the three.

Here is the situation point blank, straight from the hip, those of you who know me are accustomed to this, and those of you who are new to me, grab a pillow you’re gonna need it to cushion your fall when you fall off your chair! (you’ve been warned)

Many people in general DON’T WANT TO WORK, they are looking for the easy way out. Don’t agree with me?

Ok how many cashiers at your local grocery store that you have met are proficient at the ONLY thing they do all day long? If you say MOST you are a liar and you know it. From the grocery store, to the airlines, cab drivers, computer programmers, some lawyers, some doctors, dishwashers, waiters, waitresses, some college professors, some high school teachers, convenient store workers, the list goes on and on, we can all site examples from our daily lives of how many people in so many professions DON’T WANT TO WORK. And yes I am included in that list!

Even if I had a job digging a ditch, I would be the one working hard during the day, (so i don’t get fired) and every night thinking, writing, trying to invent a better way to do it so I don’t have to work so hard at it.

If given half a chance I would RATHER NOT WORK HARDER, which is why I engage in work that pays me residual and passive income. It doesn’t matter if I am on a plane, on vacation, on my bike riding 40 miles on a training day, or sitting in front of my computer writing, or emailing, or designing and writing code for 18 hours a day, or on stage speaking and training. I am earning residual and passive income that is NOT associated with my hobbies or speaking.

What happens all too commonly in network marketing is people take their defunct work ethic and work habits, ethics and habits that don’t work for them in the corporate world and think some how it will work for them in network marketing.

People are lulled into a false sense of security when it comes to their work, thinking they have been working at the same job for many years therefor they are successful at it, not realizing (for some) the only reason they are still employed there is because the federal government and all wrongful termination lawsuits makes it damn near impossible to fire them. When they join network marketing and it doesn’t workout for them instead of blaming himself he will blame the industry.

Believe me as a traditional business owner if it wasn’t so difficult to FIRE an employee I would have fired MANY more than I have so far! It has been proven to society beyond a shadow of a doubt people will do just enough work NOT to get fired and the company will pay just enough to keep them from quitting.

If companies were free to fire NON PRODUCTIVE employees I am sure there would be even more failure stories from the corporate side of things then there is now. As a matter of fact if every person NOT making at least $25,000.00 a month in their traditional job quit just like they do in network marketing I am sure we’d hear more about how traditional jobs fail the people who work for them. (a story for another time I am sure)

From business failures, and relationship failures, school failures, (don’t even get me started on the fucked up bell curve system) the PROOF is overwhelming, leaders either make it as simple as possible for the A. Randys to succeed or they will FAIL 98% of the time. Einstein knew this fact when he stated: “Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.” Even the copy writing Guru’s instruct us as writers to write as if the reader has a 4th grade reading level. Officially known as the “Flesch-Kincaid Reading Ease Score” and or “Fog Index” (The lower you can keep the reading level without sacrificing meaning and credibility, the better.)

As A. Randy states, “if the real facts were out, people would flee network marketing.”

The actual reality is, if the SEC, FTC, Attorney General, and Congress would allow the REAL FACTS to be OUT, DISTRIBUTED AND ADVERTISED people to run to the industry in mass and corporations and traditional businesses would suffer the most due to the loss of their skilled and under paid work force.

According to industry reports, over 360,000 people a day join network marketing world wide, EVERY SINGLE DAY!

I know of no other business that can allow the non-degreed as well as degreed, non-experienced as well as experienced individual to work part time or full time within in 12 months or 24 month or even 48 months time to create financial abundance on a significant level.

The A. Randy is sickened to see people NOT working in their “TRUE TALENTS” and seemingly forced to work network marketing recruiting people.

Personally speaking, it sickens me how many people like A. Randy just don’t get it!

Imagine creating a life style built around a substantial residual income giving you 120 hours of free time a month, you think you might be able to explore your “true talents” in your free time more effectively?

In closing A. Randy states it is not a leadership factory disguised as a business, sadly that is all too often the case! It should be people creating successes in the people they work with. All too often people see their efforts not getting the results they want or need when working with the average distributor, these would be leaders are not equipped for these set backs and they fall back on what they know to be true for them, they set out looking for other people just like them, people that will on their own find away or make away. Creating success then turns into FINDING success and plugging them into your business model.

That is a lot of writing….

In short if you want a resource that can help ANYONE WHO IS WILLING TO LEARN, AND STRETCH AND WORK achieve success purchase Randy Gage’s Duplication Nation and if you are still failing after that I think your local convenience store has a position available for you, just don’t apply at the one near my place I think I might want to apply there and I don’t want the competition. I might need another source if linear income from the fallout from this comment. LOL

(Disclaimer: This comment reply was not sugar enduced, no Kit-Kats and no soda was consumed by me before, or during the writing of this comment. I am however on my way to fridge now for one of each LOL)

    1. Dude I have been explaining how to get the money thing out of the way for more than 15 years, in books, CDs, DVDs, seminars, free articles and webcasts, etc. So I didn’t just say do that and not explain. You have some good points however and I’m glad you added to the discussion.

      -RG

      1. i know, i’ve been reading all about it from you, and i must say you are doing a GREAT JOB at it, but there are still many people that have never heard of you and never read your books and articles so there is no reference point for them.

not meaning to be critical of you and your writing, you are always on target, and most importantly RIGHT, and i love how you deliver your info straight forward no double talk.

for me and your other loyal followers and readers we know and love your works; however, those people that have not heard of you before might need a slight information boost? Here in Southeast Asia is a prime example. :o)

not at least mentioning a little about it for a reference, for the people i am sending to your blogs would be a little like me telling only the punchlines to my favorite jokes, sure all my friends get the joke and laugh, but all the new people in the coversation are lost.

a perfect example would be, “no, the one wearing the wedding ring, but i like the way you think.” ROLFL see what i mean? i can’t stop laughing now… i have tears rolling down my face…

not meaning to be critical, just pointing still yet another finger at the obvious? i’ll work on my delivery in the future. :o)

        later dude… Luv ya…. i need a tissue now… lol… my house keeper is laughing at me…

  42. all the above confirms one thing NM ROCKS whatever you do in your corporate life NM will always be an viable alternative. Just dont be to agressive (Tony Beach) who even here tries to recruit. This is the type of behaviour which gives NM a bad name.
As always honored to belong to Randy Gages group

  43. Network Marketing has a unique way of bringing out insecurities in the most seemly confident and secure people. The difference between the people I have personally met who have succeeded in this wonderful business, including Randy Gage, versus those who have not, is their ability to push themselves outside of their comfort zone long enough to honestly evaluate themselves and recognize who they have to become as a person before success is attracted to them. Most people I know, once pushed outside of their comfort zone, use any excuse to get back into their comfort zone, saying that they tried everything they could but it just wasn’t meant to be. Then they blame everything but themselves, including blaming the industry.

I have not yet reached the level of success in Network Marketing, but I have no doubt in my mind that I will. It’s one of the few opportunities where an average person can do extraordinary things. Network Marketing is not easy and it’s not a get-rich-quick scheme. But I choose to not stop until I’ve learned the skills I need to learn, and become the person I need to become, in order to create the success I desire in my life, and to assist everyone I meet to see that they can dream again as well.

You are exactly what you think, and you will become exactly what you think is possible. As a Network Marketing professional, it is our job to help those we meet get their dreams back, and the more people we help succeed, the more we succeed. I don’t know another vehicle better suited for that then Network Marketing, but you have to think and believe it’s possible within yourself first.

Thanks for spreading the word of prosperity Randy!

  44. Excuse me while I laugh. LOL “It sickens me to see people who would be amazing working with their true talent & do their own work trying to recruit people & sell products they wouldn’t even have bought themselves in the first place.”

    1) When was the last time corporate america welcomed you in and said “lets find out what your true talent is and then we’ll pay you to work on it” NEVER!

    2) Whose recruiting someone who isn’t a product of the product? (Read Randys book!) LOL..like I ALWAYS ask the car salesperson during the test drive “what kind of car do YOU drive?”

If you stick with networking long enough, you see the real affect on peoples lives.

I built a team where a mere $300 extra monthly income change a familys’ life. And it meant more than just extra money, it meant self-esteem and self-worth at creating something and bringing value to another persons world. It meant I could be a work from home single mom.

Currently I don’t see anything in corporate America but severe fear and lack mode- threats are made to make workers produce more, training programs are cut back, and benefits cut. Those with experience are being traded for those with no experience. There’s no win-win mentality. You work until the life is sucked dry from you and even then you still won’t get a thank you card for showing up day after day. You’re a number- nothing more!

I agree that businesses fail every day! Big businesses like GM & banks are failing as well as small mlm businesses.(As for as product pricing goes, I still won’t give even $10K for an American car, but call me when they go buy-one-get-one-free!) But in the end where is the bigger price paid? Unfortunately all of us will be paying for the bail-out.

This guy needs to get a grip and then hit the “BK Lounge”. I heard they are hiring plus you get a free meal! I think the uniform is free too?? What sickens me is the guy who walks in with an application, no intention of taking the job and asks you for a signature on his unemployment paper (proving he’s really looking for work).

  45. There Must be a Vision of something BIGGER that Today!

    Today is already HERE.

So now YOU need to be Looking to Tomorrow.

If your memories are bigger tham your Dreams – You’re in Trouble.

You live in the Past and the Past NEVER sees the Future.

The Poorest Person in the world is NOT the one without a nickel – it’s the one without a Dream !

    I am constantly Dreaming –

    I am constantly Believing –

Because what you Dream WILL come to Pass !

  46. “Getting the money thing out of the picture” is a great way of thinking about freedom. As a psychologist, I worked with people who were stressed out and anxious about just surviving…paying the bills…or whatever. Money — or the lack of it — can do a number on ones self-esteem and can lead to marital discord and even domestic violence.
My hope is that Network Marketing will enable many to avoid that stress — and could lead to real communication and a greater sense of peace in families around the world. It could be the process through which self-esteem is enhanced…regardless of their monetary gains. Personal Development which is so important in achieving that success should be making NM distributors better people.
In AA they say that you know when people are working the program when they become nicer people. So, too, you know when a NM is doing the business properly when he or she is becoming a better person.

  47. 9 out of 10 businesses fail? That’s probably true! But then, I also read that…

    – 95% of people by age 65 is either DEAD or DEAD BROKE… so, why bother going to work tomorrow? Let’s go jump off a cliff en mass and make history! :o)

    – 50% of marriages today end up in divorce… so, don’t get married? :o)

    – Swine Flu’s killing people all around the world right now… so, don’t travel? Don’t go to school? Don’t leave your home, your room? :o)

    – and the statistics keep on rolling.

The point is, life is TOUGH! The odds are against us.

But the fact that there are people who win in life and win big. E.g. the Randy Gages and Kiyosakis and what have you… AND the fact that they were not highly educated nor terribly good looking :o), GIVE THE REST OF US HOPE.

But of course, we still got to DECIDE for ourselves and put in the WORK THAT IS REQUIRED.

As for me, I ‘m still working 9-5 and also working hard to build my Plan-B in MLM. I still believe in marriage (13 years and still having a blast). And I’ll be flying to Bangkok/Pattaya in 2 weeks to meet with 3,000 people at my MLM company’s convention – for some reason, my MLM company is growing like crazy in Asia right now.

We pray, then we do. And the rest we leave to the Good Lord.

    Take care, everyone!

    1. Exactly! Thank you for pointing this out.

The reality is that network marketing is no different than anything else in life. Network marketing truly has unlimited possibility.

      I don’t speak from theory.

I started my own network marketing business at age 25 (two years ago) with my brother and now make $30,000/month and drive a M3 my company pays for.

I guess I should have listened to the stat, eh? Should have thrown my hands up in the air in unbelief and got myself a REAL job?

      Not a chance.

      Network marketing works. Period.

If you suck at golfing do you make the excuse that most people suck at golfing so that you don’t have to get better?

      No.

You look at the people who have a score that you want and you work to get there.

I look at that post as an excuse. The anonymous dude has probably failed or is too scared to try in case he/she fails.

Thank God for network marketing! It’s the best thing I’ve ever done!

  48. 9 out of 10 businesses fail? That’s true. And since network marketing is a legitimate business, that statistics probably holds true for network marketing too.

    But, I also read that…

    – 95% of people by age 65 is either DEAD or DEAD BROKE… so, why bother going to work tomorrow? Let’s go jump off a cliff en mass and make history! :o)

    – 50% of marriages today end up in divorce… so, don’t get married? :o)

    – Swine Flu’s killing people all around the world right now… so, don’t travel? Don’t go to school? Don’t leave your home, your room? :o)

    – and the statistics keep on rolling.

The point is, life is TOUGH! The odds are against us.
    – many businesses fail… but many succeed too.
    – many marriages fail… but there are many happily married couples too.
    – many illegal pyramid schemes out there… but there are many fine legitimate MLM companies too.

The fact is… despite all odds, there are people who win in life and win big. eg. the Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerbergs Randy Gages and what have you… AND the fact that they were not highly educated nor terribly good looking :o), GIVE THE REST OF US HOPE.

  49. ‘Get the money thing out of the way’. That has to be the best phrase I have heard to describe it. Thanks RG.

Re the negative comments: If you’ve been burnt then you didn’t do your own due diligence thus allowing someone to lead you down the wrong path. I’m getting really sick and tired of whiners who blame their failure in NM on everything and everyone but themselves.
Don’t blame the industry for your own mistakes and for goodness sake, own up to the fact that your decisions are the reasons you succeed or fail are exactly that, YOUR decisions.
There are plenty of very successful people in NM who have never done the biz before so it does work but one’s business grows at the rate that they themselves grow. So grow up!

  50. Randy

I agree with what you have written, I also agree with those who say “If it’s not working try another way. It’s a great business to be in and the key is never to give up, keep going, It’s what you are not doing if it doesn’t work, not the business or the price of the product, or your upline, these are all cop outs the only variable is you.

    Jan

  51. Yes Randy all i want to say is i completely agree with you. Specially when you say Poverty sucks. Poverty causes people to lie, cheat, steal, and even kill. There is nothing spiritual about poverty.

  52. As you well know Randy, There are only two kinds of people in the world! Those who think they can and those who think they can’t and they are both right!

  53. “as a man thinketh, so he is” …….2 months in MLM and on the fast track to Diamond director. I live by Randy’s 15 steps and a healthy dose of balance. Not everyone will succeed in Network Marketing, but the again not everyone will succeed in corporate america either. Does that mean those people get to cry in the corner and whine ” Business doesent work, its too hard…” ?and besides , who would listen? Not leaders. The Positive thinkers are running away listening to the pages of “the secret” play over in their minds. Chances are he either a) was not led properly, or b) was not led properly. For all those who havent had success, who is always at the scene of the crime ( Randys quote) ? YOU are. My first business failed. learned from it & moved on… Second one took a beating, but is still alive. Network marketing ? perfect fit. LOVE IT, never looking back.
“You are, at this moment, standing, right in the middle of your own acres of diamonds.”

  54. I hate to say this but I found myself defending Anonymous in my mind against some of these replies. Some intelligent, some voiced by people with blinders on. Hey it’s OK to be focused straight ahead on your career but if you have to be aware of what’s going on around you.

Just because any facts or opinions voiced by Anonymous fail to correspond with some of our own beliefs does not make him or her a “Negative” responder. Had you heard these responses after giving Anonymous a presentation is that how you would have handled the objections?

I saw a lot of age old cliches in some of these replies and I saw some outstanding comments supporting and refuting Anonymous’ point of view. Folks you can believe all you want to and never make a dime in this or any career. If I clock in at XYZ corporation, sit down at my desk and believe that we have the solutions to our customers needs for 8 hours what have I accomplished. 8 hours of positive reinforcement is wonderful but if I don’t know how to pick up that phone or plant my happy face in front of that customer and show them the option I’ll fail in my business career.

People were so focused on Randy’s question they failed to listen to Anonymous. I mean really listen. He just put a half dozen money objections up there.

Anonymous, are you still out there? Those were some interesting observations. How did you come by them? Personally I don’t believe an accurate ratio can be placed on “Failure” because people enroll in these businesses for a multitude of reasons. Certainly wealth is one of them and yes, a majority of folks who start businesses in the MLM or the traditional business sector will falter.

Those that sit down with plan in hand and a capable adviser stand the greatest chance for success. I do believe that a Network Marketing business provides the “Everyman” not with the greatest chance for success, but the greatest chance to earn a significant income without the encumbering investment of time and capital of starting a business outside this profession.

Allow me to close with a question, Anonymous, and if you are open to exploring these thoughts further we can. Would it be fair to say that if an individual with little or no previous experience operating a business could be taught to and actually succeed in breaking even, that they would then be capable of advancing to greater accomplishments?

    1. Hey great points, it is easy to get trapped into a defensive position with the underdog, in this case, Anonymous and the comments. It is easy to fall victim to the negative outlook demonstrated by Anonymous because we feel sympathy, and in some cases empathy for the outlooks and comments shared by Anonymous.

I would like to take the briefest of moments to promote Randy Gage’s MLM Rock Star Program, and recommend this whole heartedly for everyone who shares this view point regarding Anonymous. Actually I recommend the Program to EVERYONE, in this case even more so to the people that feel for Anonymous.

In my opinion, we as leaders in network marketing it is not our position to save everyone, these people are adults and capable of making their own adult decisions. If we get into all the rebuttals, and objection overcoming techniques, we then cross over into the realm of “Selling and Closing,” and in so doing are off the proven success track of “Sorting.”

Instead of talking about network marketing, lets just talk about basketball for a second or two.

Imagine you are the Owner of a world champion basketball team; your team is the most winningest team in the game. Now that the season is over and you have once again won the championship going into the off season you’ve got to start thinking about next year right?

Along comes the NBA Drafts, you want to pick the best choice for your team, not just the best players, but more importantly the best players that mesh well with your current roster, and can adapt to your teams philosophy, strengths, weaknesses and ideals.

In accessing your choices you might take a look at their history, how well they play the game, but more importantly their attitude and how well they play in the TEAM ENVIRONMENT. Will their attitude be an asset or a liability to your organization?

Not meaning to point any fingers at anyone in particular, but think about Shaq and Kobi for a second. Both great players, for one reason or another it wasn’t working out and the players made a decision NOT to work together. Such a big deal that Phil Jackson even wrote a book, The Last Season: A Team in Search of it’s Soul.

The differences between Shaq and Kobi not only disrupted their organization it effected the people on the team, the media, other teams and the fans. Ultimately Shaq headed East and found himself on a new team.

Take a quick look down memory lane at another controversial player, Denis Rodman, a truly amazing player, but due to his unique flavor he had more than his trials in finding the team that could handle him. Not until he found the right team were his talents fully expressed.

With that fresh in your mind….

Your network marketing organization is not an NBA team, in my personal opinion its more important, but that’s just me. Just like an NBA team I highly recommend you hand pick the people you work with on a personal level. I encourage you to let everyone who wants to play on your team to join and play at whatever level they choose to do so; however, the people you personally work and let into your inner circle should be qualified to work with you.

When I am coaching network marketers and I find they feel the need to work with the Anonymous’ in the world I look more closely at their organization and notice they have many Anonymous’ in their ranks. Ironically enough these leaders are not making as much as their counter parts, they are slow to promote, and their monthly bonus checks are a little unstable to say the least. I have also found they are constantly running around putting out one fire or another and attempting to hold the whole organization together by themselves.

(I am NOT saying this is you, it is just an observation from my coaching)

In my organization while sorting through people on my “list” Mr. Anonymous would be quickly SORTED OUT and off my list, for now that is. Who knows maybe in the future they will come around and fix their thinking, but it is NOT my responsibility to fix their thinking at this point.

If you are interested in fixing their thinking that is great and I highly recommend you NOT spend time with them to do so, you let tools do that for you. Randy has some GREAT tools to assist you in this endeavor. If Anonymous is NOT willing to purchase the tools, read, watch, or listen to them and apply the lessons Randy offers then you as a leader simply need to move on, understanding you have done all you can do.

Does the seed grow in fertile soil or on a rock?

If you knew of a farmer that was planning to grow and harvest corn for the season, he purchases bean seeds, and proceeds to plant beans you immediately know what the outcome is.

You try without success to convince the farmer to stop planting beans if he wants to harvest corn. The farmer simply won’t listen to your attempts to point him in the right direction. Come to find out the farmer has a long history of this behavior and makes no attempts to correct his thinking or his actions.

How long would you continue to try to point out the error of his ways before you move on?

Unless we are a qualified Psychologist or Psychiatrist, I am thinking we might not be qualified to work with and successfully deal with the misaligned inner workings of Anonymous’ mind.

In closing: We should be sorting, and allowing people the freedom to think the way they want, and to live life on their terms, who are we to say one way or another is right for them or anyone else other than for ourselves?

Before they sign up in our organizations they should probably meet certain criteria:

      1. They are Entrepreneurial
      2. They are open to the concept of network marketing
      3. They are coachable and willing to learn
      4. They are willing to follow a proven system for success

From what I have read from Anonymous so far, he/she does not meet even one of the first 4 criteria I listed. If I feel compelled to assist them the one and only thing I will do is to refer them to Randy’s Prosperity Series, and what Anonymous does after that is up to them.
      Just my two cents….

      1. Chip, either you misunderstood me or I, you. I never said I felt sorry for him. I did say I felt like defending him which probably should have read “Anonymous’ points” and not Anonymous personally..

Ultimately my point was that most of the replies made would not have been delivered that way had Anonymous brought them up at the end of a biz-op presentation. Is Anonymous entrepreneurial and open to our business concept? At some point they had to have looked into it to get their information, no matter how right or wrong it is. So a couple extra questions that take less than 5 minutes will let me know what direction to take.

No, Chip, we can’t save the world but we can at least try leave a good impression on it. I’m not looking to enroll projects either, but I’m not opposed to maintaining occasional dialogue if it shows promise. Thanks again for your input.

  55. Well, people nowadays are not so stupid… if they are really using their income to pay for their MLM biz and willing to do so despite not earning anything, my guess is, they must be gaining something from it as well… 🙂

I’ve known a group of people who are like tat.. and they are still willing to do tat because they are into personal development… and the thing is..

In my experience, I have seen pple who persisted, finally get it right and start to earn a 4, 5 and eventually 6 figure income every mth….

I have also seen pple like that who gave up, went into other biz/jobs and did very well there because of all the training they had in MLM 😉

MLM is a volunteer biz.. you can do watever you like and even your upline cannot force you to do anything you do not want to… People, when they fail in MLM thinks it is nice to blame the industry, their uplines… but most people dun realize that they fail because of they choose to do so.

Before you dish this out as an argument used by pple to brainwash their MLM counterparts, think again. This is a universal law tat states… RESULTS equals INTENT. Even THE SECRET agrees that wat you think will create an intention tat will attract that particular result.

No doubt, skills you have, experience will make up for it. But what will really get you there is really what you think. In my experience, a person with zero skills still gets there anyway because he has made a decision to do it and believes he can do it.

I had a biz partner who was earning $3K in her job. She quit her job to go full time into the MLM biz. For the first 6 mths, she was making only $1K a month. Is it MLM’s fault? Let’s explore.

First, she puts in 8 hours a day of work at her job, does she do so in her MLM biz? Nope, she just does her MLM stuff as and when she has got time and as and when she feels like it is important…

2nd, her bosses scolds her for some mistake she makes.. she accepts and goes about her job still as she still has a deadline. She meets some challenges in her MLM biz and she mulls over it for the next 3 weeks (there goes the month) and uses it as an excuse to do does nothing.. (MLM is a volutnary biz, remember??) Hmm…

I could go on.. but the point I want to make is this. If you havent done MLM, havent been a network marketing leader, haven’t seen how pple really make money.. and havent seen how and why pple fail in the biz for wat it is… you havent seen the big picture.. everything that you say is just well, an opinion… and since you dun have prior experience and dun see the full picture, how much would your opinion be worth?

Not at my opinions are worth much anyway 🙂 hehehe.. so let;s just stick with facts.

In singapore, if you earned more than $10K a month, you are considered the top 5% of the top earners in singapore. I don’t know about you, but I must say tat all the pple I know who are earning that sort of money are biz owners.. and a high percentage of them do so because they run an MLM biz. And I must add that they are people who would normally not have a chance to do so.. eg students, chlidcare teachers, housewives.

MLM gives people a chance to DREAM BIG and believe that one day, their dreams will come true. I probably can’t say tat for a job 😉 For me, I would rather going about life with a big dream than to walk around dead like a zombie and having no dreams… cos my dreams make me feel alive 🙂

But whether your dreams will come true? Well, tat is entirely up to you…(NOT MLM, not your LEADER, nope, not whether your pdts are great, Not whether you have the best MLM biz in the world…)

  56. Why do people fail? Because they are quitters. They don’t bother to stay in the industry long enough to learn the business. How many years do people spend in college learning how to go be an employee?

I guess someone has to get the coffee.

The success rate in my group is better than that. I guess some people just choose “which” industry facts to spout. It is crummy to here all the negative nellies and dream stealers out there trying to scare new people out of the industry.

The fact is not everyone is right for this business and thank God we don’t need everyone. In fact I probably would have asked this guy to quit. Who needs a cry baby in your group?

It’s easier to run with 1,000 horses than it is to drag one.

  57. I am new at MLM and like every thing, it is up to me to make it work. If i ‘m negative like “anonymous” about MLM I will find a lot of excuces and drive myself to failure. I have never heard so may people say so many good things about the head of a company like I have here, or have so many people wanting to help me become succesfull, I have top leaders, down to earth people with lots of experience willing to guide me with all the tools I need. My sponsor has been showing me by example, I still have so much to learn. one good thing is that I am seeing results. I am tired of having too much month at the end of the money. this is the best part time job I have ever had. I am possitive about this new way to build a business it is simple but not always easy, I will stick with it for as long as it takes. “anonymous” you should get back to the person who presented this to you and get your QUESTIONS answered. good thing you did’nt use your name (GOOD MOVE)
    good luck
    ruben

  58. It sounds like anonymous is like the 98% that are satisfied to be average and have enough money to buy beer and cigars and pay the mortgage. When you have people like a former President of the U.S. saying Network Marketing will save our economy and stabilize the country, and the top financial people saying the same thing, than I think that’s pretty eye opening. As for me , yeah, i’ve had some nasty experiences with M.L.M., but also some darn good ones. The problem is with people thinking they can sign up and then just sit back and watch the money roll in. I’m sorry, even the bible says you reap what you sow. If you don’t do anything, how can you expect to get something. The only FREE cheese is in the mousetrap. Everything requires work. That’s all i’ve got to say to anonymous other thanI feel sorry for someone that’s afraid to do something out of their comfort zone. Try working an M.L.M. for all it’s worth before you go bad mouthing it. You might actually be surprised what happens when you work it like a business and not a hobby.
By the way Randy, Mastermind over the weekend was fantastic. Thank-you

  59. Anonymous you sound pretty down and desperate. That’s a shame and some of what you say is true. Thing is if you let that be your outcome and dwell on that stuff your future is going to be tough. Most of the successful leaders in the industry lost money the first 5 years inc. Randy.

If it’s not working for you in the way you have been doing it then change it! Find some fresh approaches and find what works for you.

This business is not for the feeble and those unwilling to jump through the hoops but what business is really? Most businesses are like glorified jobs so I for one am willing to do what it takes to achieve my personal freedom. What about you?

Wishing you more success in the future!

  60. I’ve been in network marketing for 2 years and not made one red cent, infact I’ve invested thousands of dollars in business tools and others things required to make myself look professional.
The people I come across day to day couldn’t see an opportunity if slapped them in the face. I’ve had so many say ” it looks good I wish you well with it”. No dummy your supposed to sign up. Or others who say ” Umm you can you really make all this money ?” to which I reply yes, absolutely but it takes hard work and training and I’ll be with you all the way. Then they say ” Umm maybe sometime in the future” No dummy timing is everything.
Having said all that just the prospect of being able to quit my day job and spend more time with my family, work 15 hours a week, travel around the world in first class and many other things keeps me going. I know and believe that when I do get this thing off the ground I will be able to do these things. I always ask myself the same question. ” Is the firm I currently work for going to provide me with enough money to do the things that network marketing can provide?” The answer is :- Hell would freeze over first.

  61. Wow

I have totally enjoyed this post. If you can look at it as a whole you can see where we as an industry need to fix some of the way things have been done. And you can see some of lack and limitation programming (as Randy always says) screws up a lot of people from being successful.

In either way, to all of you on the board open your mind and see what this post is showing us!

Then lets go out and help heal a broken world

    much love

  62. This is an absolutely brilliant article and I’m not surprised the author is Randy.

Focusing only and always on the money is like trying to clench a fistful of water.

Better to gently cup your hands.

  63. Interesting article and interesting comments. I’ve worked for 1,5 years with network marketing and to be honest, this first 1,2 I didn’t earn a cent. To me it was finding the right way or the key to success.

To me that is SEO. I’m not focussing on finding new members for my business, I’m focussing on being found by those who are looking for an opportunity I’m offering. These are the people I want as well.

    Good luck to all
