Following Your Money
I ran into an umpire last week who I hadn’t seen for a while. Last season he begged me every week to get a ticket to my prosperity weekend. Every time he talked about how little he made, and how committed he was to breaking out of it. So I finally relented and gave him tickets for him and his girlfriend.
Of course he never came.
I don’t know when I will learn that lesson. I can’t tell you how many books and CDs I’ve given away to people who never looked at them again. I gave some others free tickets to that same event. And of course those were the people that came late, left early, or never showed up.
I have learned that people follow their money. The less they invest in something, the less invested they are. And the more they pay for it, the more serious they take it. So now I figure if someone doesn’t think they’re a good investment, it’s probably a bad investment for me too.
What kind of investment do you make in yourself?

I have for years always believed that the best investment I can make is in myself. However, I never thought I’d be in a situation where my back is against the wall and the only way out is from looking within!
As it is always said, follow the money! If one does not invest in themselves, then another person’s investment in them is usually a waste.
I find it interesting from my personal experience that self investment always pays, regardless of how the finances are going.
Randy: As someone who is living financial excellence after having come from humble beginnings, what would be your advice for those of us who have screwed ourselves up with debt and lack and are trying to get to living true prosperity financially? I personally am sick of beating my head against the wall and never getting anywhere but broke. I am certain there are things I and others like me are doing and not doing that are causing failure, but am not certain exactly of what these things are. What is your perspective of the herd’s failings?
